Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Amon and takes place after the first Sveden war thread It had been a few weeks since the incident by the church. Heading back to the shop, it was extra painful because everything was packed up, locked up, leaving the shelves barren and empty. His parents hadn’t planned on returning to the shop for quite some time, they were fleeing the city after all, but now they wouldn’t be returning at all.
He didn’t need to do much in the shop, but he felt like he was moving through syrup as soon as he passed through the doorway. It’s like there was a pressure on his chest the whole time he were within the building. Every step took effort, every movement was filled with pain. But he moved on anyway.
It took a few days, some alcohol, and multiple trips each day, but he had done it. His possessions were out of the building, a portion of his parents work was removed, and anything else taken care of that needed to be addressed. And with everything taken care of, he didn’t need to suffer through trips into the building any longer.
A message had been sent to Amon a few days prior, asking him to meet Lasair at the shop to discuss what would happen with the residence. The Mingo’s logo could no longer be honestly hung on the windows, at least, not until someone else moved into the building and opened their business.
In the past, Amon would not have cared for any of this; not out of heartlessness, but an honest disconnect, as there were only two people he had cared for prior to becoming head of Mingo's. Since then, he had formed different connections with various people, not only as a requirement as guild leader, but also as genuine relationships, at least to a fair number of people. Tourin's death was a bit of an exception; although they had no interaction, Amon silently mourned, more for the passing of a great mind and a missed opportunity, than anything else. Needless to say, that was nothing compared to the past weeks of funerals and the passing of wills that he had to attend to.
And yet here he was in yet another emotionally draining meeting. He had found out later on that the couple who were crushed to death were none other than Lasair's parents, who were among the hardest workers in the guild. He should be feeling a torrent of emotions; gratitude for Lasair's help against a shadow beast, condolence and sadness at the lost of his parents, and, although he could not blame the lad, anger and disappointment for his involvements in Viktor's death.
Instead, he just felt...drained.
It was times like this that a certain nasty thought kept creeping into the back of his mind...a wish or desire to have never met these people.
He shook his head, clearing his mind of such thoughts as he reached his destination. Upon entering the now empty store, he raised his hand in a meek greeting.
"Hey."

Looking up, Lasair spoke in a quiet voice. “Thanks for coming. I know you’re busy and all that, but this should be quick.” Stepping forward, he came within a few feet of Amon and then stopped, reaching out to hand him a rolled up piece of paper.
“It’s the deed for this place. Building is well maintained, even though it was occupied for about 25 years.” With his other hand, he dug into his pocket and pulled out an old key. The key itself was a dull brass color, the metal being worn down considerably at the handle. But the opposite end was still intact. He handed this to Amon as well. “The safe is in back, under the work bench, disguised to look like a part of the wall. All the jewelry is in there.”
Stepping back now, he took a breath before continuing. “I’m not interested in haggling so I'll take whatever you're willing to give. I can’t stay at this place anymore, the memories, I just, can’t.” He let out a frustrated breath, looking down to the ground. A part of him honestly would not have minded simply giving the shop away, but he knew better than to do that. Money was one of those things that people needed to survive in this city.
Amon blinked. Admittedly, he only had one interaction with the man in the past; that being said, he got the impression that Lasair was carefree individual, the life of a party and (to his ire) a flirt. While understandable, the 180 degree turn in his personality was a bit jarring.
"...I see..." Amon replied taking the items from Lasair. "...Well...in regards to whatever possessions your parents owned...it's up to you to decide what you want to keep or give away..."
"As for the store..." he continued, looking at the deed and the key. "...You sure you're okay with just, giving it back to Mingo's? I could hold onto it for now, and I can give it back if you ever want to return and live here or take over the shop..."

He shook his head as the initial response. “I took what I wanted from the jewelry; I don’t need a whole store’s worth of the stuff. If you don’t want to keep it or sell it yourself, I’ll load it up and do so for you. And as for the shop, I found some place else to live and I couldn’t run the business by myself. It would be easier if you just took it and did whatever you planned to with it.”
Taking a shaky breath, he looked around the place one last time. The display cases, the counter, the work area in back. Yeah, he was sure. Coming back here wasn’t something he wanted to do.
"...Don't worry...I'll find a good use of the jewelry...and a good owner for this shop," he said, looking around the place.
"You gonna be okay?" Amon asked, turning to face Lasair with a small, sad smile. "You always have the support of your friends and acquaintances...and to be honest, I was sort of hoping that you'd join my guild and follow your parents..." he continued with a small chuckle.

A small smile came to his face as Amon spoke, but it was a bit forced on his part. “If things had gone differently, I might have followed after them. But a different guild swept me up and I can’t leave them now.” Was it bad that he shared the information of his guild membership? Probably not; lots of people were in guilds these days.
“Anyway, yeah, I’m alright. At least, as much as I can be right now. These past few weeks have been rough. Do you need anything else from me?”
"...I see..." Amon replied. He said another guild; there was no way he was a part of EIRAL, and considering that they are mutual friends, he would've dropped Edel's name if he was in CAEsAL. That just leaves the rogues...and...
"Ah, no, that should be all...well..." he paused, then shook his head. "Nah, now is not the right time. I'll ask you about it later..."
"Just get some rest, okay?"

He nodded. “Just send me a message if you change your mind.” Now that Amon held the deed and key, there wasn’t really much else to attend to. Pausing a moment, Lasair held his left arm out to shake Amon’s and say, “I’ll try to rest. And the same to you.”
"Got it," he said with a small smile, shaking Lasair's hand. He was about to turn and go, when he stopped. It was a bit of a gamble, but...
"You know...yeah, I'll ask now: do you know Danny Ravensdale?"

Danny? Why would Amon ask him about that person? “I’ve met the guy but I don’t know him well.” He opted to leave it at that as he began following the Mingo’s leader out of the building. There was more he could say, more he could ask, but what was the point? He had enough grief to deal with right now.
Amon observed the lad for a moment. It had been a gamble...still is in fact...but of the two remaining guilds, Lasair just didn't seem like a member of the Brotherhood of Rogues...though it was nothing more than a gut feeling.
"Oh...I see...well, if you see him, could you give 'him' a message: due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, the conditions of our 'deal' have been changed." Amon gave Lasair one more smile. "Sorry, just a weird hunch is all. Just something to pass along if you happen to see 'him' and remember what I said; I won't blame if you forget...I think there's more than enough we both want to forget...for now at least..."
"Well...don't be a stranger," he said, giving Lasair a final wave as he exited the building.
