Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Edelweiss Fjäril and MI members willing to be magic teachers (a special invite goes out to Tyrell O'Callaghan if interested) CAEsAL had become a close partner to MI in the recent months. Thanks to the actions of the previous leader, inter-guild relations are at an all-time high. Once example of these relations is what Lasair was on his way too right now, a clearing in the forest where a large group of kids were working on magical skills. Some of them were a bit older than the label of “kid” but they were welcome all the same. They were here to practice to magic, or to learn it if they were still new. He was leading the teachings, but there were days where he allowed other guild members to take care of it on their own.
Walking through the last of the trees, he saw the group and a soft smile came to his lips. “Hello everyone,” he called over their chatter. Most of the kids worked on their own, leaving him free to walk through the groups and make suggestions for improvement, but some days a group needed a fresh new lesson instead. He wasn’t sure which day this one would be, but his magic was ready at his fingertips to help them out.

Edelweiss had her gaze aimed at the silvery cold air above the clearing, watching what from that distance seemed to be a cluster of colorful birds. Red wings. Blue. White speckled brown on the tips. Soft yellow. Brown. White again. Pitch black with hints of orange and golden like hot embers in a moonless night. Once in a while the wind brought down hints of laughing or singing voices of the winged children they truly were, mirth of the rare chance of flying free in the open sky and the small chanting in unknown tongues of charms that kept them warm in the wintery weather. That sight was beautiful to the point of being mesmerizing, and the redhead found it was easy to get distracted just watching them whenever there wasn't anything requiring her imediate attention. Herself was currently perched on a branch of a random tree at the edge of the clearing, from where she could watch the younglings flying above while still not losing sight of the ones at ground level. Some others had their way at the borderline trees along her, glowing eyes peeking through the nude branches, legs and arms switching perches from branch to branch and tree to tree. They were mainly there to train magic, but the physical exercise also did them good, and so Edelweiss didn't stop them (as long as they stayed nearby and didn't stray far from the group).
A voice greeted them from below, and Edelweiss jumped down from her perch, greeting the redhead man with a smile of her own as her feet reached firm ground. "Hello Lasair. Nice to see you." Although she's not at all unhappy at his presence and assistance as a teacher, she also couldn't help but notice he seemed to have come alone yet again, which caused her to look behind him for a couple seconds and then unconsciously glance at the package she held in one hand. "Do I take it Danny couldn't come again?"

After the disaster of what occurred in the Hovel leaving it in ruins, Tyrell had secluded himself to the forest and MI headquarters going so far as to avoid the other members. Danny had been right all along and as mortar fire lit up the city on nights he would fly, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt and sadness for all those who suffered--humans and anders alike, but the logic still remained behind their plans and he had slowly come to accepting the reality. Today was such a day he chose to fly without the cover of night and as a result, his raven wings glistened purple and green in the sunlight as he cut through the air and glided with the wind. Sight of other wings caught his attention as he made his way back toward the headquarters and much to his surprise they were other anders--children at that. A giddy joy filled him at the realization others could enjoy what he found so much happiness in and without a thought he flew closer to get a better look. As he drew near, he could see others on the ground--was that Lasair...? He did not know the man well. In fact, they had a rare handful of interactions if they could even be considered a handful. With him was a face he recognized--Edel, wasn't it? He waved to the children in the sky before diving down for the ground with his wings compressed to his body only to flare out and parachute him when he drew too close to the earth, finally touching his feet to the forest floor. Like dust his wings vaporized and blew away as he pushed the bat mask from his face and offered the two a tilt of his head and a timid smile.

Lasair chuckled a little as he spotted a few feline anders jump down from the trees as he approached. The winged ones were already scattered in the sky, and the generals were in areas between the rest of them. His smile grew as he spotted Edelweiss appear, it was always pleasant when he ran into her. “Nice to see you too, Edelweiss. It’s always nice to meet on terms that don’t require me to work in a library,” he paused to laugh at his own joke, but as the laughter ended, he grew somber. “About that. I don’t think Danny will be around anymore...at all. Was that for him?” he pointed at the parcel with her as he asked.
When Tyrell landed near them, Lasair raised his eyebrows in shock. That specific member hadn’t been around much lately. “Hello Tyrell,” he said towards him. “I’m glad you could join us.” The leader of MI had a feeling that Tyrell would make a good teacher for the young ones, and now was as good a time as any to get him involved with that.

Edelweiss lifted her gaze back to the sky as the sound of rushing wind and heavier flapping than of a child's wings reached her ears. The tall Winged landed, retracting his own wings and removing his mask. Tyrell. So Tyrell was a 'bat', while Lasair was the 'fox', huh... she would keep that in mind. Either way it was pleasant to see him again, it had been a while since she last saw the man. "Hello Tyrell. What good winds brought you here?" She first nodded in greeting and then asked with a smile, trying to make sure her mouth was clearly visible as she spoke since she remembered Tyrell couldn't hear. It was rare to have a different teacher around for the kids, but not an unpleasant surprise. The younglings around might get some benefit from variety.
That being said, the initial deal had been Danny would be the one watching those kids along the redhead woman in those lessons. Lasair's explanation that the blond leader would be no longer coming raised a series of worrisome questions in the back of her mind. The face he was pulling while at it wasn't cheering either. Something serious must have happened, and/or Danny was no longer in charge of MI. She knew for a fact MI's leadership could vary without requiring the previous lead's death, since she knew Elowyss by name and face although they never were close acquaintances. But Danny had specifically appointed herself for the duty of interguild teacher, and whatever could be said of the blond scarfed gal Edelweiss still knew she usually kept her word, so if she had to bet it would be on something happening that was keeping Danny from being present now. And it sincerely worried her.
"I see..." Her light smile was switched by a more solemn, if a little tense (or sad, it was hard to tell) expression, and when he asked about the wrapped packet she was carrying she just nodded. "Technically it still is..." Or to MI's leader. Which brought over the question of who was in charge of them now. It was Lasair who was constantly coming in Danny's stead those past days, and kept telling those 'library' jokes she could only partially understand, so that in itself was enough to be suspicious of his position. But a supposition was far from being surety. She held the packet a little tighter in her hand. "I guess we'll have to chat of it at some point---" "Laaaaaassyyyyyyyyyyyyyy~~~~" The redhead woman's sentence was cut as Amber practically made a leap-of-faith from the sky over Lasair's head once she spotted them there, flaring her small wings open to parachute her fall in much more playful and less elegant fashion than Tyrell had done. "---Though it's probably a good idea to keep it for after the lessons today." Edelweiss finished with a half-smile.

Tyrell bowed his head at the two and watched Edelweiss first since although he knew her better than Lasair she was not part of the guild. "I saw the kids in the air--I was curious," came his reply before looking to Lasair. "Join...? What are we doing today?" He had missed the entire exchange regarding Danny and so when the package was brought back to attention he was left confused but did not press. After all, from the bits he could gather, it was meant for someone. He never heard the girl's voice over head but the attention that would soon be drawn to her would make him look up and ready to catch her should Lasair not.

Upon hearing Amber’s voice, Lasair grinned and braced himself for impact. That kid was always excited to learn more, and he couldn’t blame her. She had natural talent for the art. “Hello Amber, it’s great to see you again! Are you ready for today’s lesson?”
With Amber having safely landed, Lasair looked to Tyrell and answered him first. “We’re in charge of teaching magic to these kids. I’d like you to help. You could help them with flying too.” He smiled warmly as he finished speaking, sincerely hoping Tyrell would join them. Lasair had a strong feeling that the man would be good with kids, despite the deafness. There was just something about Ty that felt welcoming; like the image of kids crawling on and hanging from him fit perfectly.
Turning back towards Edelweiss, he continued. “I can take it from you, if you’d like. I won’t even open it, just hang onto it so you don’t have to. But you can keep it too if you’d prefer. And yes, we’ll need to have a chat when there’s less kiddies about.” He smiled at the mention of them, looking out at all of them playing here. Some were better at magic than others, but that was how it was with all skills. A lot of the kids would be good mages in MI, if they hadn't found their way under Edelweiss' wing first. But either way, he was happy that he could help them. And even if he couldn't personally perform all the spells they were doing, he at least knew how they worked from all the books he'd read. Sometimes he needed to review before coming to the class, but most days he was ready. It was just a matter of making sure the kids understood everything.

"Always!" Amber was always ready for lessons. Well, sociopolitic lessons were a bore, so better saying, always ready for -these- lessons, because they are about MAGIC! Magic magic magic~ Besides, it was great being somewhere she was able to fly around. She still loved Edel though; and her bed, the dorms, the angel costumes and the way the ceiling was painted to look like the sky for them. She wouldn't want to leave, but could be good at magic while being where she is. Which is why this was so great - and why Lasair was such a nice friend. He was really kind. And didn't mind in the least the fact she kinda fell over his head (and even caught her). Alma was working on her own like always, and Ember was still flying, and Edel actually looked happy... Everyone was having fun.
Edelweiss looked at Lasair for a moment, considering his suggestion of holding onto the packet for her. She didn't think he'd burn it or the likes, and it wasn't anything harmful to him either. It just didn't seem right to hand it away to someone else... Although Danny wasn't here... No. What was wrong here was herself. She didn't know what Danny was up to right then, but her word was being kept, even if by another person. And the redhead woman could only sigh; it was time for her to stop holding onto things that might not mean all that much. They could talk of what truly mattered either. "If it's not a bother..." She relented and reached out the packet for Lasair to hold onto for now. "Thank you."

They were in charge of helping kids with magic and flying...? Tyrell's chest felt tight as a large grin spread over his childish features. If there was something he loves more than anything it was to teach and help. A nod was the answer Lasair got because the large bear was too hapoy for words and once Amber was known to be safe he swept in to hug the smaller man though he was careful not to crush him. Once he pulled away he turned to Edel and bowed his head to her. "I will be good to them. Promise." And then he was running off to join the kids in the sky.

Setting Amber down, he turned his grin to Edel, reaching out to take the package. “May I ask what it holds? Or would it be better if left forgotten in a desk drawer somewhere?” Curiosity got the better of him as he postponed the magic session just a little longer to ask the question. Still, regardless of how she answered, he stuffed the object into his coat pocket and turned to the growing group of kids gathering.
“Right everyone, today’s lesson is a continuation of last week’s,” he began, noticing Tyrell grin before jumping back into the sky. Lasair was happy the winged one had stumbled upon their lesson. “You’re all starting to get the hang of Cryomancy, but I want you to keep trying. Making the air cold is a good start, but you want to do more. Pull more than just drops out of the ground, get a whole handful of water, and then freeze that water into ice. All you have to do is concentrate, feel it getting colder, and then it will.” It took a while for the kids to learn new spells, but he had faith in them. The basics of the spell had been explained last week, so this week would be filled with more of walking from kid to kid and giving personal help on how to improve.

"I believe you will." Edelweiss replied with a chuckle at Tyrell's promise of being good to the children after basically having bearhugged Lasair as if the redhead man was a light little plush toy. It would have been hard to not laugh at that. Though her smile turned a bit melancholic at hearing the questions about her packet.
"Perhaps both." Yes Lasair could ask what it contained, and also yes it might have been better left forgotten in a desk drawer somewhere. As were all things even vaguely related to magic, there were very few places that were a true safe haven for it. "It's a book. I can't mention more than that though."
At the lesson starting for real, the kids were divided into groups. The majority flocked to Lasair, for the instructions and tips and for him to check their progress. Then there was the group still flying above with Tyrell, and a third that wasn't exatly a firm group - younglings who had already mastered that specific spell and/or would rather use their time there to practice other branches and ranks. Edelweiss wandered between the first and third groups (since she couldn't really fly along the second), watching and giving her own tips as well when necessary. Mainly things how to control their 'flarings', feeling how their magic flowed, noticing each other's progress and such.

While the other two tended to the groups that were on the ground, Tyrell enjoyed every moment with the children in the air. It took but a few moments for the small individuals to realize his disability but once it was clear most were relatively good with cooperating. There were few things he really could teach them but they took awhile to grasp the aerodynamics their wings were capable of. Flying in and of itself was rather awkward. At least it had been for Tyrell growing up, but practice made perfect. Some of the things he was in process of teaching the others were tricks of how to keep the wings in tight for smoother dives as he and Amber had done earlier. The second part of that lesson was how to flare the wings for a smoother landing.

He nodded to Edelweiss while he went to work with the kids. Books always had a place in the HQ. But the thoughts of that faded with the three groups separated and at work. Lasair and Tyrell were the primary teachers, but Edelweiss was helping out a lot as well. The leader of the whole thing spent most of his time with the group working on Cryomancy, but he did drift over to Edel’s group to give them pointers when their leader was at a loss for what to do. Overhead he noticed Tyrell helping the winged ones quite a bit with flying; they probably wouldn’t be working on their magic much today.
Unknown to the happy group, a monster had wandered out of the depths of the forest. It smelled the scent of children, inhaling the thick odor for a few moments before turning towards it. So many children, all in one place, that would be an easy meal. The beast licked its jaws in anticipation, stalking through the trees. It seemed that venturing outside of its usual territory had been an excellent choice today. It hung back and watched through the trees, surveying their different activities and planning the best way to strike. A single pair of red eyes could faintly be seen through the trees, but that was only if one looked carefully in their direction.
