Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Edelweiss Fjäril (and anyone else needing to hide some Ander heritage) The mandate had cut into Edgar’s business by quite a bit. So much so that he needed to start making daylight appointments for certain clients. It was a double-edged sword though, because now clients were willing to pay even more to pass the tests and receive a permit for being out after dark. So his business pool shifted from being mostly workers who were paid very little to high end anders who were paid a lot. It meant more money for him, but also that he was helping less people overall. Not something he preferred.
The sun was starting to set, which meant closing down his day business in favor of the other now, given that he could no longer do it after sunset. After he swept away the last of the hair, he exited the building and locked the door behind him. It was a short walk around the building, to the back entrance in the alley. Some days he found people waiting there for him, but not all. And he wouldn’t know if this was one of those days until he arrived.

It had not been long after sunset since someone came up to the back entrance of Edgar's business, perhaps ten, fifteen minutes at most since the sun went down. There were two customers for him at this time, a red-haired figure in dark (but quite normal) clothes bringing a much shorter young girl by the hand. The girl had a thick scarf wrapped around her neck and it covered her face since her nose, with a matching beret and hairbangs that covered her eyes away from view, and she was shaking considerably - though that last part could be blamed on the ever-chilling weather outside.

When the knock sounded at the door, Edgar was quick to answer it. He opened the eye level slot and peered through. “Proof of—oh wait. I know you. Come in.” The slot closed again before the pair outside could answer and a few moments later the door swung inward. As soon as the pair entered, it would be swiftly shut behind them.
“It’s nice to see you again, miss. What brings you here to my business?” He walked over to his desk, one of only three pieces of furniture in the room. The other two being a tall dresser and a table that was just the right length for a person to lie across. Edgar's expression was that of calm annoyance, but it softened slightly when his eyes fell on the child with Edelweiss. Only to return to its hardness a moment later. They were here on business after all.

Edelweiss greeted Edgar with a grateful nod when he let the two of them in and shut the door so quickly "It's good to see you as well.", then at the question about what brought them there she turned her focus to the girl that came along her. "Ok Pearl, you can take those off now."
The child finished rubbing her own arms, a little action to send the night's chill away, then quietly moved to remove her own gloves. She took a little while with that, the fabric fibers getting uncomfortably stuck and tugging at the nails below and getting a bit of a frustrated grunt from her, but eventually the gloves slid off to reveal the set of long pale claws growing from her little fingers. Those were obviously very well taken care of, but in opposition to Edgar's neatly trimmed claws, hers had been sharpened, weakly gleaming like small ivory daggers under the place's illumination.
"This young lady is in dire need of new gloves... And I recalled that maybe you could help with this little issue."

The Mingo’s member nodded solemnly as he watched the girl fight with her gloves. He knew that pain himself all too well. Too many days had passed by where the claws would catch and snag on the interior. And the only material they wouldn’t snag on was terribly uncomfortable. At least those were the days before his training.
“Black or brown?” was all he asked as he turned towards the tall dresser. He opened one drawer, rummaged through it, only to close it and open another. He dug around in this one for a few moments before pulling out several pairs of gloves. Turning around, he stepped towards the girl with four pairs of gloves in hand. Two sizes, and one of each color.
He would hand her whatever color she picked and say, “Try each size on, tell me which one fits better. Children’s sizes aren’t in high demand so I’m afraid they might not be tailed to you specifically. Also, if you stretch them your claws might cut through them. Be wary.” He wasn’t about to tell her to trim them down, but if she were going to keep such sharp things, she better be able to handle them.

Black or brown. Pearl tilted her head and looked at Edgar with a mildly confused expression. What? While she was still thinking of what he meant, he came back with four pairs of leather gloves in different sizes. Ugh, leather. Why leather? That stuff was as comfy as a corset for hands! She felt tempted to turn to Edel and tell she'd rather keep fussing with her tiny fabric gloves, but the look the redhead gave her kept her silent. It was one of those 'behave' looks Pearl guessed mothers gave to their kids when they're being too fussy. She wasn't going to dictate it for her, but Pearl should choose something. It's not like they had an unlimited amount of places they could go tailor gloves for her as if she was some human little princess, and with how long her claws were turning out she really needed new ones.
"...Brown." She finally replied, eyeing the leather with a mistrustful pout before receiving the gloves and trying them on. The mention of her claws piercing through if she stretched it made the girl grin though, getting some lighter mood back. "Ah, ok, I'm used to that part already. But they're handy, mainly in the kitchen."

The fellow feline nodded at her comment, smiling slightly himself. “Which pair fits better?” he asked next, turning to toss the black ones back into the drawer.
As for the gloves Pearl held in her hands, both were made of leather, yes, but they had already been crafted to compensate for ander claws. The insides of the gloves were smoother than the outside, leaving nearly nothing for the claws to catch on when put on or taken off. The fingers were also somewhat longer, but not noticeably so. Just enough to leave some room for the claws not to be as squished.
Once the girl answered his question, he’d reach out his hands for both pairs of the gloves. There was one more thing he had to do before he could let her leave with the pair, after all.

"Hmmm, this one, I guess." The girl said, glancing at the pair she was currently trying on and flexing her fingers before taking thos off again and handing both pairs back to Edgar. Even the chosen felt a little loose still as it had not been tailored for a child, but, like most things she got to wear, she could grow into them instead of them turning small too quick; sometimes she wished she'd just stop growing, but no worth in dreaming that, someday she would anyway. And considering this was leather, or at least looked like leather, it didn't feel too bad. Just kinda hot - and even that might be handy since it's cold outside.
"How much will it cost?"

Taking the pair of gloves back from the girl, he tossed the rejected ones back into the drawer as well and then laid the chosen ones out on his desk. Raising his right hand over the pair, he closed his eyes and whispered a series of words to them. Even if the pair in the room heard him, they would certainly never be able to correctly repeat the phrases. Not without training of course. As he finished speaking, there was a light glow over the gloves, a glow so faint you wouldn’t see it in the daylight. It faded after a few seconds and with it gone, he picked the gloves back up and handed them to the child with a kind smile. “Charmed for comfort.”
Looking to the other adult in the room now, he rubbed his chin a moment as he thought about it. “I usually don’t charge for children, but given her companion…” he paused, allowing her enough time to think of what would fill the gap, but not actually vocally fill it in. “How about a ticket for the next big show? It has been quite some time since your group performed The Sorrows of Young Werther.”

Edelweiss raised an eyebrow as Edgar mentioned not charging from children but her having came there as Pearl's companion. So he didn't have set prices and adjusted that to the customer... and the redhead was a guild higherup, right... Now this was going to be expensive, wasn't it? She took a deep breath, but figured she could accept it. The mention of free services for kids was a nice touch too, maybe she could send some other little workers of hers there again at a later time (the ones who wouldn't mind going without supervision or company).
"Fair enough..." And then Edgar asked for a thater ticket as payment and Edelweiss first blinked then couldn't help but let out an amused snicker. "Deal, you'll have it. I don't have any tickets on me right now (for obvious reasons), but I can pass by during daylight hours to hand it to you. And maybe bring Pearl back for a haircut too." What with the young girl's hairbangs already covering her eyes of so long they are.

He couldn’t help but smile again as Edelweiss feel into the trap lain by his words. It always amused him to mislead those without telling a lie. Even more amusing when lies were involved, but that’s another matter.
“Come on by, the shop is usually open. I’m trying to keep the door open a bit more often than usual given the restrictions for nighttime happenings. A haircut is no problem, but I will need to charge the standard fee for that, just to warn you.” He shrugged his shoulders. It was one thing to give handouts in the secretive space of the back of his shop, another to do it in broad daylight when other potential customers could be about. “I hope you enjoy the gloves, Pearl,” he said to the girl then, hoping they’d help out with her rather pointy hands.

"Oh not for me, for her." Edelweiss replied with a chuckle at Edgar's mention of her coming for a haircut. Sure, her own hairbangs were kind of long now too, enough to cover her own eyes as well in some stances - but in her case they were kept that way on purpose and she usually just styled them out of the way. It could be handy (and at times amusing) to have something natural to hide your gaze with, and not let others know which way you're facing. If the redhead could have heard Edgar's thoughts on misleading ways she'd have agreed plenty with him.
Pearl, however, really needed that haircut. Good night vision was worth nothing if there was a curtain of platinum-colored strands blocking her sight, and since the girl wasn't planning on growing her hair out it was better to simply cut it off. Edgar wanting to be paid for his daylight hours business was perfectly acceptable "That's understandable. Don't worry, you'll be paid properly." although again, Edelweiss is fully intending to put that bit of information about free services for children on his nighttime workings to use. It was a very appealling policy. He better be prepared to be receiving 'visits' of duos or trios of customer kids at his backdoor everyday for the next couple months.
Talking of the young girl, she wasn't sure how to respond to Edgar's comment. To her, gloves were a necessity, not a commodity. She beared with them out of need (to hide her Ander origins), not out of fondness - like a vaccine - and she pretty much would bless the day when she doesn't have to cover her hands and can bare her claws for the world to see. Still, these new gloves weren't as uncomfortable as she had expected. In fact, they weren't uncomfortable at all now. Still a tad hot, but for cold weather that was a nice touch. "They're better than any of the ones I had before." She finally settled with. "Thanks, Mr. Anapello."

“I know you meant for her, but still, I expect to see you there with her to drop off that ticket.” Another of his awkward smiles came to his face as he noticed her looking to her hair, and it remained as Pearl thanked him for the gloves.
“Is there anything else I can do for you both tonight?”

"Not that I can think of." Edelweiss replied with a smile of her own. At the present moment, Pearl had only needed new gloves and the redhead had no need for red blood in her veins - let it remain black as ink, as it always was. "We'll be taking our leave now." She greeted him goodbye with a polite nod while Pearl moved towards her to take her hand again.
"So, we'll see you tomorrow, Edgar. I hope the remainder of your evening is pleasant." "Good night."
