Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Seeing Wern's startled face at her simple statement, and then Lasair's clear amusement at it all, Edelweiss couldn't help but chuckle. "Even if I wanted to go roundabout about it, he'd find out soon or later. What would be the worth then?" It was true. Not like she had much choice. The public side of her job was a VERY public one, and the whole Theater District thrived on publicity in general. And even if Wern somewhat avoided her district for longer as his stay in Lodan progresses, that didn't change the fact if he's one of the members of MM then his boss is also dating her. There's no escaping for her on that matter, so she didn't try to flee from it. If she could, she might have enjoyed the game of subtleties and hints along the gingerbread man.
Their drinks were brought, and the redhead woman held hers while trying to guess what it was for a couple seconds. It was a rich almost opaque red, and there was a little lime slice in it; that was all she could infer at a first glance. Juice? Sip. NOPE not juice, the thing was strong. Probably had vodka in it, mixed with some sort of berry. Not bad though. And alright, it was sweet like she had asked. Sweet is good. The next question wasn't directed at her though, so she just kept sipping on her tasty-yet-unknown drink while waiting for Wern's response.

Noticing Lasair’s glance, Wern lowered his head. He didn’t want to drink. He never drank. But perhaps, that was the problem. He never took a chance. Taking a deep breath, he sheepishly took a sip of the liquid, expecting something bitter, but— it was mild. Something natural, that tasted of open farmland, and a little hay. It reminded him of home. And something else, something close, something. Tensing, Wern blinked. This feeling of being light, of being warmth. It reminded him of Abigial. Oh cogs.
When Lasair and Edel spoke, Wern jumped. “Pardon?” Wern asked. The two had spoken to him, and he had slipped. Had fallen back into that old rut. Shifting, he glanced between them, as if searching for the key, but they were waiting for him to respond. No time to search. But move on, that was good.
“Um. So I know your work and your names. What about likes? Can’t say I know much about city related interests with ,well, being a country boy and all.” Cogs, he seemed to be growing smaller, or maybe, the room bigger? So many bodies…”But I mean, certain interests transcends towns and cities, right?” He winced. Nice going, Goya would probably say. Gears, maybe he should just take the sphere out and be done with it all.

Hmm. Lasair thought about Wern’s question as he sipped his drink a couple times more. Edel’s looked rather good, he found himself glancing at it a few times, but then an answer came to his mind and he spoke up. “I like to roam around more than anything. See the city, meet its people, get involved with the local actions. Learn what I can from the surroundings. You know, that sort of thing.” Resting on a light smile, he looked down at his drink. That answer was a bit more honest than he expected it to be.

"Watching people can be entertaining in its own way, indeed." The redhead agreed, snickering at how Lasair seemed to be oogling her drink as one might look at a beautiful lady, then thinking on how to elaborate that answer more to include her own hobbies. I have multiple 'likes', I guess. It depends on my mood as to what I feel like doing. But I enjoy music - both listening to it or playing, dancing as well. Chatting with friends (like now), taking a walk, just feeling the wind and enjoying the scenery. Watch the crowd, or stay at home and read a book. Sometimes writing too." She shrugged.
"It's true, some things transcend geographic space. Though now I'm curious, what were your hobbies in the countryside, Wern?"

The conversation continued, without a problem, and Wern settled a bit, taking in his own drink. He listened, nodding sweetly at both of their answers. It seemed as though both of them were outgoing, but with a soft side. Edelweiss being more open about it, but that slight smile from the man, it was nice. The loud music seemed to die down a bit, or at least, in Wern’s mind. He looked at his drink and smiled, closing his eyes and thinking back to home. “I mean, hobbies were relative. I tinkered with my father, but, well, I helped tended the fields, and helped the townsfolk— they were more like chores then hobbies but well,” Leaning forward a bit, he rested his elbow on the tabletop, sighing. “They were nice.” Lowering his eyes, he bit his lip. That wasn’t very specific, was it? “But, I uh, like a lot of what you do ma’am. Walking around and, um, writing. And sketching. I do, uh, a lot of that. But for the countryside?” He tilted his head to think of something specific. “Taking care of the livestock and children I guess. Cogs. They were crazy.” He laughed. “I swear, one of the farmers, they had these goats that the children would scream at, and the goats would just stiffen up and.” Taking his hand, he held it stiffly straight, before flopping it down. “They fell right over on their side, shaking nonstop. The kids got a kick out of it, but me, well. It scared me as much as the goats.” Again, he laughed, shaking his head at the memory.

A caring smile rested on Lasair’s face as he watched Wern tell the story. He remained motionless, head resting on his hands, and didn’t even reach for his drink as the mechanic told his story. It was nice to hear from someone who hadn’t spent their whole life in the city; something the male ander really appreciated. “Which countryside are you from? South, west, somewhere between them?” he asked as a hand parted from his head to reach for his drink. Taking a short sip of it, he returned his attention to the normal human at the table. Edel was still in the corner of his eye, but he felt that Wern deserved more of his attention right now.

That was something to take note of. Wern was a normal human at the table - and that in turn made him very rare. Normal people, yes, Edelweiss knew quite a few. Humans as well, plenty of them. But normal humans was an unusual combo. He also seemed to have led a common, tranquil life with nothing too stressing other than children who yelled at goats (which made her need to lift a hand to hide a silent snicker once the mechanic reached that part of the story).
As Wern told of his life in the countryside and Lasair made his following question, Edelweiss sat back relaxed on her seat and took another sip of her drink, that hint of a content smile never leaving her lips. She wondered what it would have felt like to have a life like that. Peaceful years that would guide them forward without demanding their soul to age too fast. Well, Wern seemed to have resulted alright from it. He was nice to listen to.

The spotlight seemed to be on him. The conversation had not progressed, instead, it seemed to have regressed, interest, now on him. Flustered, he shuffled a bit. “Well, I’m from the West. No. I mean. North. North West. Both.” Glancing between the two, he took a sip from his drink. It was really starting to grow on him. He pondered why he had been so unwilling to try to drink it before, though he probably new why. His mother had always warned him of it, since his father always enjoyed it too much. Yet, she wasn’t really there right then to scorn him for it. “It’s a town called Bruntin, close to Worshire. Though I’m originally not from there. I’m originally from around Worshire. Well, I think I am. Um, well, I ended up in Worshire. Yeah. Um, let’s go with that.” He stated, coughing awkwardly as he took another sup. "So, um, have you always been in Lodan?"

Edelweiss was sitting back and enjoying the conversation, as well as her drink. That was good, it left him to focus on the new and interesting one at the table. “Always? Oh no. Born here, but when I was young I set out and went traveling. All over the place, all over the world. I finally came back about a year ago now. Don’t think I’ll be moving around a lot anymore. My family’s here.”
Leaning back similar to how Edel was sitting, he reached for his own drink and took a swig from it. He liked the fact that he had a home to come to. In a way he had been scared that it wouldn’t be here when he returned. But it was, and for that he was thankful. Lifting his eyes to the CAEsAL leader, he waited for her answer.

"The 'not always' works for me as well." The redhead woman responded, momentarily setting her glass on the table and tapping it with her fingers in a relaxed manner. "I was born in this city, and have been here most of my life. I did leave for some trips once in a while though, even if they were mostly business-related."

Glancing at Lasair, Wern inspected him a bit. To be honest, he still looked quite young. Though, Wern did envy him a bit. Traveling sounded wonderful, but also, a burden. It seemed like more of the world Wern learned, the harsher it became. Nodding, he looked to Edelweiss, then to his own drink. Again, the conversation drifted, and he searched for words to fill the void forming. “I see. So, anything a newcomer to Lodan should know about? Aside from wandering the streets at night. I’ve heard of curfews for wolves, but goodness.” Taking a sip of own drink, the liquor was indeed tasting better with every sip. “I picked an interest times to move, it seems.”

“Steer clear of the guards; that’s my only advice. Unless you’re doing business with them, they tend to be a bit overwhelming.” At least, all the guards the MI member had met were bad news. Lasair really didn’t want to do anything with them again soon.
Around them, the music seemed to swell and someone jumped up on the table, dancing wildly and hollering above the music. A lot of guys cheered for this mystery woman, but Lasair could only shake his head and chuckle a little. “How do you like the atmosphere?” he said to both of them.

"The curfew isn't for wolves, that's for sure. It's just one of the effects of Martial Law. Can be frustrating at times." Edelweiss commented with a shrug and a sigh, then sipped some more of her drink. As for the guards... in her personal opinion it depended on the guard, and in what circunstances she met them, but either way she could understand Lasair's wariness towards them. Oh so very well.
At the sight of a woman climbing and dancing atop of a table, Edelweiss raised an eyebrow - and also her drink back to her own lips for a moment. "Nice to have something this good to sip from while questioning how much someone else drank." She responded, and the manner how the corner of her mouth was arched upwards made her expression look like a smile, but truth be told that was caused much more by surprise than actual amusement. Someone obviously had had a tad to much too drink there; thankfully it wasn't herself, Wern or Lasair still.
Confused, Wern nodded. He would have thought that the guards were the safest people to approach, but, well, Lodan did seem to be a bit different. At the rise in music, Wern wanted to cover his ears, but he found that it wouldn’t matter as an intruder burst into their group, standing on the table, and oh Gears. Lowering his eyes, he tried to avoid the scantly clad woman, but well, her legs were right in front of him, and oh goodness. Red dotted at his cheeks and he tried to make himself smaller, even with Lasair’s inquiry. “Um, it’s very different from the countryside.” He stated, taking glances at the two, but the woman, she continued to dance. And then, oh my. “Aye mates, how you fairing?” Another woman slurred, stepping into the circle, reaching a hand up for her friend but the woman just danced away. So, the woman just tapped her on the leg, smacking her lips as she looked at the group. She gigged as she pointed to Lasair and Edel, trying her best to whistle but it, too, came out slurred. “drat you two are gorgeous. Hey, hey, look at these hotties.” She drunkenly called to her friend, then returned to the group at hand. Scantly clad as well, she decided to sit, on what she may have presumed was a fluffy cushion. But nope. It was Wern. And so, as the woman sat, she jumped, confused as to why the thing she was leaning on was cringing, and also, trying to run away, but also holding onto her? “Ey, Ey. Mate, what’s wrong? We all friend here.” The woman wrapped an arm around Wern shoulder, who at this point, was hyperventilating, trying to look away toward Edel or someone for help. He had been terrified when the woman sat on him, but it felt as though she would slip at any moment. Unsure of whether to support or push, he instead held his hand up in mild fear, which, too went unnoticed by the woman. Instead, her focus was on the drink in his hand. “Hey, mate, why aren’t ya drinking? Something wrong with the brew?” She inquired, leaning forward to take a sip from the drink. Her face contorted a bit, but bliss followed suit as she laughed. “Nah. It’s fine.” Taking the glass, she leaned up a bit to urge the other to drink. “Come on. Drink.” She pointed to the liquid, planting a quick kiss on his forehead before sitting down, and well, Wern followed suit. He drank the whole glass before sitting it down on the table, holding up his other hand to hide his line of sight from the two girls, knowing that Cogs, this was a mistake.

So the dancing lady had a friend. That made Lasair smile anew as he watched them, but he mostly paid mind to Wern and the way he became VERY uncomfortable with the girl so close to him. So he wasn’t a ladies man, that was okay, not everyone is. After the sitting and the peer pressure drinking, Lasair felt like it was time to step in. He thought Wern could handle himself, but that proved to be wrong. “Hey, girlie,” he called in a flirty voice. “Can you move as nice as your friend here?” he asked with the raise of an eyebrow and a point of his finger upward. Then he looked to Edelweiss (mostly to continue to draw attention away from the flustered one) and asked, “How bout you? Can you dance?, do you have the moves?” Again in the flirty tone, again with an eyebrow raise. It was almost as if he was challenging them, trying to see if they could do what one was already doing. He did hope it would help Wern relax, if only a little bit.
