Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"Same for me, I hope you won't mind that I accept your offer." Edelweiss replied with an amused grin. Never going to refuse free food/drinks - why would she? No good reason to.
"And don't worry about first impressions, it's been a while I've met someone who'd put a smile this big on my face in the first minute." The pair of Wern and Goya was surely unconventional, that was true, but did that need to be seen as a bad thing? Being one who's surrounded by strange types for most of the day in most days, the redhead had nothing against these two - they amused her greatly, in fact. A timid-looking, polite mechanic and his clockwork doll's head who seemed to have a sizzling crush on her wasn't something that she could see everyday. ...As for Lasair, he seemed to just be being himself like always. Edelweiss didn't react any to that other than glance at him and give a bit of an amused half-smile.
With Lasiar’s compliment, Wern tensed up a bit, trying to pass off a smile. “I’m not that good, I assure you, but I appreciate the gesture.”
“I appreciate it profoundly. If, you know, I could comprehend what that meant.” The orb spoke up from the satchel, and again, Wern moved the bag around in an effort to ignore the other. Turning to Edel, he laughed weakly.
“I am glad.” With an effort to adjust, he looked back to Lasair— for only a momen though. He couldn’t help but wonder what sort of character the other was, for him to be so friendly. In truth, both parties were friendly, but something seemed… well, off with the red haired fellow. Though, perhaps it was only a misunderstanding on his part, and so he continued on. “Well then, anywhere particular you would like to go?” In truth he had not been to many bars in the area, and the last time he went to one, well, he had been bombarded with a level of energy he was not able to deal with right then and there, especially with Goya by his side. But if push came to shove, he wouldn’t mind going back. “You are more then welcome to lead the way if you have some place in mind.” Wern stated, pulling down his rolled up pant legs.

“It’s an interesting robot. I’m only giving its creator the compliments he deserves,” Lasair said with a smile towards Wern. Then he turned towards the city, looking towards it in thought. Drinks probably wouldn’t help his headache, but at the same time, the headache was starting to recede. Perhaps it couldn’t hurt. “I am an expert on all the local bars and pubs, if I do say so myself. Just name the type of place you’d like to go to and I’ll lead the way.”
With a gesture of his arm, he motioned for the pair of them to walk forward, away from the water and back to the city. Where they would go next was up to them.

"That he is, trust me. It's not just bragging." Edelweiss comfirmed with a nod and a bit of an amused smile when Lasair proclaimed himself to be an expert on all the local bars and pubs. She could recall the last time he'd taken her for a drink. It had been quite... enlightening, for some things.

Wern didn’t know whether to be amused or concerned. “Um, somewhere fun? Or um, great atmosphere?” He offered, and Goya whistled from the satchel.
“Anywhere is fun were you go hot mother or father. Whatever fun might be. And if your body temperature is warm. And if you have offspring.” Goya spoke up from the satchel, and Wern tensed, blushing frantically as he looked between the bag and the other two.
“I assure you, if I could turn him off, I would.” Inclining his head, he tried to hide the blush from reaching his ears. “To be honest I’m terrified at the implications that may cause though.” Apparently his father had downloaded some very, well, intimate stories and poetry into Goya’s hardware many a year ago. When questioned why, it was to “protect the evidence” from his wife apparently. Regardless, It would have worked. Gone under the radar, quite literally, if it wasn’t for the fact that Wern had brought Goya to the table one night. When turned on, the bot had immediately started spewing some erotic literature in revenge for a previous forced shut down. His father then frantically tried to whisk the orb out of the room, shortly followed by Wern's mother with a frying pan. And from then on, shutting Goya off without their consent was a horrible, horrible idea.
“For the love of my sanity.” He mouthed to Lasair as Goya talked about how “drinks were a fine thing to indulge in” and quite an old fashion way of “wooing” people, "please pick a place that is loud."

When Goya spoke up from the bag again, Lasair found himself giggling. “I know just the place,” he answered as he caught his breath. Turning to walk up the sand, he offered an arm to Edelweiss and then the other to Wern. It was his way of being polite, not the mention the fact that flirting was embedded into his core.
Regardless as to whether or not either took his offered arm, he’d lead them to a busy little place just a short walk through the ports. The bouncer was standing outside the door, but moved aside as soon as Lasair approached. They knew him; of course they knew him. From there, the trio could proceed inside to the loud place. There was a band playing music, people talking, people singing, and drinks all around. It was one of the very lively taverns in town, just as Wern requested.

"I can't hear my own thoughts in here." Edelweiss thought, and judging from Wern's previous request of a noisy place to be able to ignore Goya, this should really be a perfect place. She couldn't help but let out a snicker when the bouncer simply let them pass with no questions asked or second glancing at the mere sight of Lasair. He probably went there a lot.
So," She spoke, raising her voice some to be heard over the overall noise. "where should we sit?"
Lasair offered his arm, and well, Wern stared at it, unsure. Was it really proper to take the man’s arm? He was offering it, after all, but still. Looking away, a blush on his features, Wern took it, and soon was lead to, well, apparently what he had asked for. But he didn’t realize it was going to be so loud, and so, well, official. He had been to taverns, but such ones as this one was past his comprehending. The fact that there was a guard in front, well, that already proved it far out of his league. And so he continued to blush, seeming out of place, especially with, well, so many attractive people around him. When Edelweiss asked him where to sit, he looked for the quietest place in the tavern, almost regretting his decision for the “loudest place possible.” A descent area seemed to be a table far off in the corner.
“That seems like the best option.” Wern shouted, trying to make his voice carry over the music, not a simple task just as a group of drunks erupted into a sailor’s song next to him. Skittishly, Wern led them to it, taking his place in the very crevice of the corner, out of the way, out of place, wondering if maybe he hid himself enough, no one would notice how he probably shouldn’t be there. Once the other two were seated, he called the barmaid over, asking for water for himself, then motioned for his companions to request a drink as well.

“Only water??” Lasair asked as he looked at the mechanic. “Surely you mean some kind of stronger drink. I’ll have my usual and bring something good for him too,” he spoke to the maid now, grinning at Wern with his flirty smile. They were here and they simply must have a good time. No debates about it. As for what Edel would order, well the ander knew better than to try and push her to drink.

Edelweiss couldn't help but chuckle as Lasair pretty much decided Wern -must- drink alcohol. Poor guy, but well... that was a legitimate 'welcome to Lodan' there. "Bring me anything sweet. I don't mind if it's strong or weak or whatever it is." She told the maid with a carefree smile. She really didn't mind either way, as a weak drink would just mean a free ticket to watch the show of those two getting a tad less sober than people should be, and a strong drink would just mean getting to enjoy a little trip in that insland of her mind that stripped all the shame off her verbal sass storage. Sitting in that noisy, crowded bar along her ginger friend and a rather timid newcomer (and said newcomer's talkative clockwork ball), either option could be amusing on its own way.

When Lasair changed his drink, Wern was going to protest, but that smile, that grin. It made him cower a bit, and he blushed, looking to the side, rubbing the back of his neck. But it was probably all in his head. Yes. Of course. He was reading into things. Like he always did. Softening a bit, he returned to the problem of drinking. He never drank. Or at least, he had never drank before. And well, he hadn’t ever plan to, to be honest. Yet, that was a bridge to burn once they got there, and their drinks, with this crowd, could take a while, or at least, he hoped.
“So, um. You know what I do. But um, what are your professions?” Wern inquired, drumming his fingers on the tabletop.

“Me?” Lasair asked over the noise of the crowd. He thought for a moment on how to answer that, as his usual answer didn’t feel like the best fit anymore. “I work at a library, but not one around town. I mostly just organize the books and occasionally buy some new ones for the collection.” In his mind he giggled at the way he said that, but it wasn’t untrue. The books he had gotten from Elaine were a great addition to the guild’s collection.
Still grinning from the way Edel phrased her order, he looked to her next to see if she’d be blunt and say the whole ‘I happen to be guild leader’ thing. There was a way to be subtle about those things. Edelweiss did not practice those ways. Maybe it was because of the fact her guild is public knowledge. Well most of it anyway. Lasair didn’t happen to have that luxury.

"Riiight. A library." Edelweiss thought and had to make some effort to not outwardly snort or eyeroll at Lasair's answer at what his profession was. Really, if he wasn't intending to mention anything about his guild affiliation, mentioning he helped at his parent's jewelry shop would have worked already - but she had to admit this answer of his had been much more amusing.
"Ah, I lead the Theater District." If their drinks had been delivered already, she'd be sipping hers now. In a sense, Lasair was right that she wasn't subtle about that - but being subtle was also a luxury she didn't have, because her role was a public one and Wern would find out soon or later anyway by just walking around (or talking to his boss, even) even if she decided to not tell him now. Besides, keeping the public side of her guild public helped to keep its hidden side hidden. Each job had its quirks.

Nodding sheepishly at Lasair’s response, he was a bit saddened. It would have been nice to have visited said library¬—especially since he had yet to find such in the neighborhood.
“That sounds marvelous.” He said to Lasiar, thanking the barmaid as she brought the drinks. Taking his, he glanced at the liqueur. It looked, well, sweet. But not at the same time. It was a deep brown that seemed to cream and froth at the top. For a second, he swore he could smell vanilla, but perhaps, it was just the women who passed by, with towels on their arms and trays in their hands.
As Edel spoke, Wern’s eyes widened, and he held the cup, nodding sheepishly. Oh, wow. Another person of power. This was quite, well, an embarrassing way to introduce himself, especially someone of her status. Perhaps Amon knew her? Or maybe not. Perhaps that would be better, even. He had a feeling that the younger man did not care for him. Or something along those lines. He was unable to read the other. And every time they had interacted thus far, the man generally was either annoyed, indifferent, or angry with him. Yeah. Perhaps it would be better if Edelweiss did not know Amon.
“Congratulations” he stated, raising his glass subconsciously, but realizing the liquid inside, he placed it down. Looking to the side, he wondered what else to say, what else to do. As far as his conversational skills went, normally Goya would speak up for him then. But the bot had gone quiet. Or deaf. He wasn’t certain, nor did he really mind. Being a few minutes without the bot would not hurt. But, that awkward silence though. That may be a problem.

Lasair put his head in his hand as Edel blurted her social status yet again while in his presense. But under the hand he was smiling. “Always direct about youself, hm?” He asked her, not expecting an answer though as the drinks arrived. He picked his up and took a drink from it right away, keeping an eye on Wern to see if he’d drink his.
“Well now that we have our drinks, what would you like to talk about next?” he asked to Wern, leaning towards the man, still smiling his signature smile. Lasair wasn’t one to allow silence to surround a group.
