Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Skye took one last breath before boarding the 'Queen's' ship. No one from the brotherhood tried to stop him or bar his entrance. He had been here for weeks learning to walk again. On top of that he still had full permissions to walk among them. He'd been half afraid that she'd revoked them in his absence. After all, it had been two weeks, and a productive two weeks at that.
He'd met with Edel, learned about doughnuts, gotten his bandages removed, purchased some new clothes which included his sporty eye patch, and learned a bit about deception. Yes, it had been productive but he'd done it more to avoid what he knew had to be done. He had to talk to her, and tell her what he couldn't that day back at the top of the tower. He'd just been so angry then. Angry and confused about his course. Why save him and then throw him aside for someone else.
He had to confront her. To know if there was a reason for him to stay, or to say one last goodbye before disappearing into the wind.
Finally tracking her down, he'd found her at the fore of her ship. Looking out from the bow across the vast ocean of sky that lay before them. The sun was just starting to set, casting her in its radiance and making her look almost god like. This was her kingdom. He tried to smile as he approached, but he was afraid. Inside he just wanted to crawl into the warm embrace of a nice bed and stay there until this all went away.
"It's a beautiful sunset," he remarked as he moved to stand beside her and look out over the waves. He wasn't quite ready to get to the point of his return just yet.

Caitlin had been so busy lately she couldn't sleep. Or was it the busy that kept her awake? Yes. Yes of course it was. She stole away for a moment, just the briefest of reprieves to enjoy a glimpse of magic hour before the night set in. When she heard Skye's voice rise up beside her, she jumped a little in her boots, but forcibly relaxed her shoulders and released the tension. She had told him he was welcome back anytime, and he could chose any of her assets to return to. She just hadn't expected him to return here, to the IRONDREAD in particular.
"Yes... it is," She whispered, not turning her head to look at him. She wondered briefly if it were possible, in her sleep depravity that she might have dreamed him up, and put him there - an imaginary friend - a ghost perhaps to all else. She drummed her fingernails on the rail and bit her bottom lip, but her eyes did not stray from the golden cast across the roof of the clouds.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin
She didn't turn around, but it might have been better that way. Looking into her eyes, he didn't know if he'd be able to say what he needed to. Would his strength disappear so easily under the onslaught of her gaze? He took a breath and simply stood, silent, as the sun sank down into the waves. It was a sight to behold, the world changing from gold and orange to dark blues and finally blackness of the long night.
"I just have a few things to say, and then I'll leave again," he said finally, sensing her unease. "When I left before I was...out of sorts, and I shouldn't have left things like that. Being in a hole in the ground, deprived of everything, I needed something to hold onto, and that something became you. I dreamed about you every night and awoke with a renewed vigor that I'd see you again and we could just pick up where we left things. I held on for so long and so hard that when you did finally come it wasn't as I had pictured it. The shattering of a man's very reason for living is a tenuous thing at best, but that's something I need to deal with and reflects not on your actions. You did what anyone would have done and went on living." He paused for a moment, and if she turned to look at him he would hold up a hand. He wasn't finished yet, and if she stopped him, he didn't know if he could finish.
"I've had a few weeks of reflection to look back on those things I experienced, and though my dream of our life was a lie constructed by a feeble and desperate man, I know one thing is for certain. I love you, and I have from the moment we first met. Through everything and because of everything I love you. Ander or Rouge Queen, or whatever else comes between us, I always will."
"I know, I don't have anything to offer other than that. I have no future but one of a man on the run. I can't court you before your father and the other lords. I can't legally marry you. I can't offer you riches or wealth because you can do that for yourself. We would never have a normal life with a house and a picket fence. The only thing I have is myself and my loyalty. No matter what life may throw at us, I would never betray you, never leave you, and never purposely hurt you. My trust, my life, and my love would be yours for as long as you'd have me, and my sword would be yours to command."
"I don't know what Levi offers, and I don't want to put the man down. If you think he can give you all of that and more than he's the better choice. If you love him truly, and he loves you back just the same. I won't stand in the way of that, but I will always feel that way. If that's your decision, I will respect it, but I won't be able to stay here. I can take a lot of pain, but watching you together would be more than I could bear. Don't make a decision now, and don't make one because you think I'll be gone. I'll still be close, just not in this guild. Now I'll give you the same courtesy you gave me, time to think."
He bowed his head, even though he couldn't see her. A negative answer right now would be more than he could bear to the point that thoughts of jumping over the side crossed his mind, but he would never bring himself to do such a thing. He had too much respect for life. He turned on his heel in a very military manner and walked back the way he'd come. If she followed him, he wouldn't stop her from speaking, but he wanted to give her time to weigh her options and consider his proposal.
