Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"I didn't know you got along with Vieka, Stephen." Edelweiss commented, sitting on the couch as well while they waited for the masked doctor to return. The kid was quiet for the most part, though he seemed to be clinging quite firmly to the redhead's vest (seeing someone in a scary mask can do that) so she kept the small boy on her lap. "Then again, I didn't know she was fond of Shakespeare's works either. Quite nice to see... and that was a witty quoted comeback, I have to admit."
Even though she didn't know Vieka and Stephen had discussed that particular quote at a time before now, it was still quite fitting for the moment. Vieka had complained but still agreed to help, and with that being so by all means the redhead found fair she could complain, grumble and whine as much as she wants to feel better. Bottling things inside too much left a crushing feeling in the heart indeed. Besides, Edelweiss pondered that amount of honesty was really rare to witness from anyone other than her second-in-command - it was quite refreshing.

Stephen snorted, "I am not entirely sure that 'getting along' would be the best way to describe her and my relationship at the moment." She was right though, that was a well put comeback and he had to admit he was very impressed by it. It did not excuse her rude actions from before but... he could not exactly hold them against her either.
He looked over at Edelweiss and frowned as he noticed the amused smile still playing across her face. She was up to something, he could tell right away. She only got that look when she knew something that he did not, which was always a bit aggravating. "What are you so pleased with," he asked, narrowing his eyes at his best - and probably only - friend.

"She's as honest about her displeasure for things... as you." She told simply, giving him a light pat on the shoulder. "When on a cranky mood, at least. And mind you, that sincerity is one of your best qualities." Never change, Stephen. You're CAEsAL's sweet grumpy cat. And a grumpy cat is not a grumpy cat if stops being grumpy.
And he was making that suspicious squinty face he sometimes pulled when noticed her being amused. The topic was somewhat sad though, if not bitterweet, so the redhead added: "Besides... I think you have more friends than you realise you do."

He gave her a disbelieving look, "So... you find my tactless sincerity to be one of my best quality, do you?" He shook his head and let out a short laugh, pleased by her odd complement none the less. "You think too highly of me sometimes Edelweiss. I am not half the man as you make me out to be"

She chuckled a bit as well. "It's a rare quality, I'll give you that. And I pride myself on being able to pick out lies and cheating from a distance, you know. But while it's true you could use more tact on your words sometimes, the fact that I don't need to analyse everything while around you is quite pleasant and relieving to say the least. You're easy to trust, and should value yourself for that."
She pointed at the general direction where their at the moment out-of-sight stalling doctor went before. "And, that being so, the same thing applies to Ms. Vieka over there. Dry shakespearean bluntness and all."

Alright, she procrastinated enough. Supplies gathered, her tea's brewing, she downed a cup of coffee. Unless she just wanted to stand around and glare at the wall, she supposed she better just suck it up and get it over with. "faster i do the faster their gone." the half breed mutters under her breath as she picks up the bundle of cleaning and healing supplies before stalking outside with purpose before she can change her mind about it all.
"Try not to fidget. I'll be as quick as i can." She murmured to the kid dryly while blanking the other two, her bed side manner extremely lacking, but after she'd pulled off her gloves, her touch was surprisingly delicate and careful. She removed the bandages around his wings, feeling around the injured area with practiced swiftness but deliberate consideration as she worked, trying to get the task done with.

The kid clung to Edelweiss really tight when the masked woman came back, but passed a few moments after Vieka actually started working he slowly relaxed a little more and let go. It didn't hurt too bad. Kinda like being nursed by his mom - if this is what having a mom felt like. And after a while he was curiously glancing over his own shoulder, trying to see what Vieka was doing on his back while trying to not move too much.
Edelweiss had greeted Vieka with a still wave of hand as the medic came back, but otherwise just watched while she worked without making any comments. See, it wasn't too bad now, was it...

As Vieka came back in he watched her work with a cautious curiosity, spinning the Shakespeare book idly in his hands. If she used her magic to heal this child it would be interesting to watch. Magic was fascinating and he almost wish that he had more Ander blood in him so that he could gain magical abilities. Alas, that was foolish thinking; his mixed blood gave him enough trouble even with this minimal amount of Ander in him. With a sigh, he narrowed his eyes at the trio as he leaned back and set the book down next to him.
If they expected her to use magic, they were going to be sorely disappointed. After locating the worst of the damage around the main bones in the childs wings, Vieka felt herself clicking her tongue in distaste. Honestly, to a child no less. She may not like them much, but there were some things even she wouldn't do. Picking up one of the pots she'd brought out with her, she popped the cap and took a generous handful of the goop in her fingers, placing the pot back down before slathering the jagged but clean wounds (Peaches didn't do half bad) with the cooling salve. After making sure the worst of the cuts had gotten their portion of green goop, the doctor cleaned off her fingers with a spare rag and picked up another pot, filled with cream this time around.
"The worst of the cuts should be healed within two days, maybe less. Depends on how well his body takes to natural healing herbs. reapply the salve every four hours and make sure to clean the wounds and re-bandage before he sleeps." She muttered, placing the two pots next to Edel before rummaging around in her coat pockets and pulling out two small, cylinder objects wrapped in blue paper. Crouching back down, she held one up, offering it to the brat while she pushed her mask up slightly and pulled off the wrapper with her teeth with the other, sticking the soft white milk chew in her mouth to show it wasn't poisoned or anything.

The kid flinched at having the green goo slathered on his wounds - it felt weird and chilly - but apparently he was still trying to behave and other than clinging a little tighter to Edelweiss again there were no other visible reactions while Vieka worked. When Vieka offered the little cylindric treat he looked at her again and slowly, hesintantly reached out his little hand and took it. "T-thank ya lady..."
"Alright, thank you." Edelweiss listened to the instructions and nodded when she was finished. It's true she had expected some healing magic from Vieka, but she didn't feel like she had the right to complain. Beggars can't be choosers, and the medic was already doing them a favor. "How much do I owe you?" She asked while reaching out for her wallet. In the redhead's mind, she had made the note that kid was far too small to work in anything CAEsAL dealed with. They couldn't permanently keep him, her guild didn't have the structure needed to keep in people who weren't active workers, so Edelweiss was planning on taking him to an orphanage after leaving - she knew of a nice one that took in Anders and where he'd be treated well. But if he'd just take a couple days to heal, she also didn't mind keeping him until he was healthy. It was a time short enough.

pushing the rest of the sweet treat into her mouth and scrunching up the wrapper, Vie pulled her mask back down and paused while she chewed. Once finished, she shoved the left over trash in her pocket and turned to move away, moving over to her work desk and picking up a small envelope. "You owe me nothing." She stated, her tone clipped and uninviting, showing that this wasn't done as a gesture of kindness. "Just take the kid and get out of my house."
Stalking over to where the feline noble was sitting, Vieka then promptly pushed the envelope into his chest, holding it there for a moment. "That goes for you as well. I want nothing to do with you or your money." She growled lowly, removing her hand and pacing away with the intention of making what was undoubtedly a now over brewed cup of tea. Inside the envelope was two tickets to one of the more grand theatres, brought with the cash he had left on her table during his last visit. With the very sight of him now an eyesore, she didn't feel like she could enjoy the show in good taste.

The noble watched Vieka and Edel's exchange with a frown which only deepened when she turned on him - for good reason too because she promptly shoved a letter against his chest. Reflexively, his other hand shot up to grip her wrist but not tightly as he glowered back at her. Anger flashed across his face but he managed to hold his tongue until she pulled away from him which allowed him to catch the envelope and look inside. Upon sight of the tickets he scoffed and pulled one out to place on the play book still laying next to him on the couch. Fine, if she did not wish to see a play with him she could go on her own - he would not plague her with his company if she despised it so. Standing up quickly he jammed the rest of the parcel into his vest pocket and briskly walked over to the door and yanked it open but paused as he turned back to look at where she had just excited. "Excuse me for trying to extend a kind gesture. Obviously it was unappreciated and unwanted. It will not happen again," he hissed then stalked out, his eyebrow twitching from the frustration and annoyance he felt.

"Alright then," She would see it as owing her a not-monetary favor. Vieka had quite a temper, that was easy to see, and although it wasn't funny nor amusing in the least the redhead still could not forget the doctor had assisted them nonetheless. "Hope to see you in better circunstances the next time." She relented, standing up with the child and getting ready to head for the door. Glancing behind, she still had time to watch Vieka smacking an envelop against Stephen and his subsequent angry remarks. Indeed... "...Waaaay better circunstances."
