Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Edelweiss had walked into that cafe in a bit a of whim. She usually could waltz in and out places without anyone noticing her Ander inheritage since black blood wasn't something really detectable unless she was, well, bleeding, but that place in specific wasn't somewhere she had an habit of going to. Had the cafe's owner to blame for that, mostly. The man just never seemed pleasant to see, even though it was just a bit of an instinctive impression of hers with nothing to back it up. But news were the guy would be away for a while, so the redhead ended up wandering in. Why not?
"Good day." She greeted the worker(s) and whoever else might be inside when passing the entrance, a small smile on her face, then took a seat next to the man in black that was already there, the redhead gal couldn't help but briefly glance at his hands. He had nice claws. Pretty short compared to what she had the chance to see before, but well taken care of.
"I'd like a cup of coffee, 5 sugar portions and no cream please. And maybe a muffin." She might be a doughtnut-addict at heart, but who could resist that really delicious smell of fresh muffins...

Reading is a nice pass time, Edgar did quite a bit of that himself. Poetry was a lot of his after all, the way the words interacted on a page and moved together. Taking a bite of the coffee-soaked muffin again, he pondered the thought long enough for someone else to enter the place.
He glanced at the person through the sides of his eyes, tempted to grab his gloves, but deciding against it, and they did choose to sit next to him despite the claws so they must be okay. “A good day to you too,” he greeted them with a slight nod of his head before turning to watch the waitress, Fawn prepare her order.

Turning the waitress saw a redheaded customer walk in. 'It is turning into a rather good day.' The woman thought smiling lightly to herself. The more the merrier. "How are you?" Fawn smiled back in traditional greeting standards as she set to work.
Reaching down she pulled a coffee cup from the area under the bar and twirled it once by the handle on her finger. Setting it down she filled it with the dark beverage and added five sugar cubes. The boss loved sugar cubes and would have it no other way. Allowing that to melt a moment Fawn turned while grabbing a small plate identical to the one Edgar currently had and placed a muffin on it. Warm, fluffy, and delicious. Fawn retrieved the coffee and placed the order in front of the woman.
"Here ya go. Enjoy!" Fawn smiled and turned her back to them to fill salt and pepper shakers lined up on the opposite counter. She had gone around awhile earlier and gathered all the empty or almost empty ones before Edgar had arrived. Two large containers of salt and pepper were at her side. Picking up the first to refill she kept an ear out for the two customers.

"I'm fine, thanks for asking. And you?" The redhead replied, the smile still on her face as Fawna greeted her. Heavens, what a difference the place's owner not being around made! It felt quite pleasant to be in right then.
Repeating a short "Thank you." when the green-haired gal brought her order over, Edelweiss picked up the coffee cup and blew the steam from it slightly before taking a sip and glanced back at Edgar once more. "You have quite nice claws. It's the first time I see someone who trims them, is that look hard to keep?"

As the new customer chatted with the waitress, Edgar took the opportunity to finish his muffin. Who ever mixed the batter certainly knew what they were doing.
Taking another sip of his coffee, he looked up when the red head complimented his claws. That was new, and the fact that she noticed that they were trimmed was something he was unaccustomed too as well. She must work with anders, given that she was familiar with how untreated claws would look; he appreciated the fact that she noticed either way. “Thank you,” he began as he set the cup down. “If you have some experience, no it’s not hard, but starting out it was a bit of a challenge.” He glanced towards the waitress, trying to gauge her reaction to the conversation.

Fawna was enjoying the conversation. It was nice to be able to free speak of such things without greatly offending somebody. The green haired ander did nothing to indicate the conversation meant anything to her. Although it deeply pleased her to hear two people getting along like this. She smiled at the woman's question. She didn't have to keep up with claws, she had wings. Whole different ball game there. Wings required preening, keeping oils and dirt out of the feathers and making sure they were all in order. Fawn brushed off her apron as pepper spilled and coated it on minute black specks.

Edelweiss nodded at Edgar's answer and was about to say something else, but the sight she caught on the corner of her eyes of their waitress accidentally coating herself in pepper caught her attention for the moment and she turned to look at the green-haired lady once more. "........Are you alright?"

Following the gaze of his newfound companion, Edgar saw her cause of concern. Speckled pepper had coated her apron, it was a wonder that she hadn’t sneezed already. “Need any help?” he asked next, setting down his coffee cup. It seemed that she was suddenly the center of attention in the small building.

Fawn looked over her shoulder at Edelweiss. "Oh no don't worry, I'm fine. Sometimes the containers can get away from you." Fawn smiled dusting off the last few specks. "Rewards of being a waitress." The woman shrugged and closed the canister of black. She felt the pre-sneeze stuffiness and swore to herself not to. After a moment, and by sheer force of will, the feeling went away. "Thanks for the offer though." She added to Edgar. 'Not only a good conversationalist, also polite.' She thought matter-of-factly with a small smirk. Fawn ignored the pressuring feeling of attention and carried on as if nothing had happened. No use in getting all worked up over a bit of spilled pepper, easily cleaned and not life threatening. Unless of course one could sneeze to death. Was that possible? "Do y'all need anything?" She asked turning to check on them.

"Hmmm... No, not for the moment, thank you." The redhead responded at Fawna's question after being sure she was alright, and went back to sipping her coffee again, enjoying it and the muffin at leizure pace and not really caring if any of it was still hot or not. "I came when heard this place's main owner would be away for a while, wanted to check how it would feel like. I must say this is a much lighter environment like this."

She was doing fine; that was good. He tuned his attention away from her and found himself gazing into the depths of his coffee again. “No, thank you,” he answered to her question regarding needing anything. Two cups of coffee was plenty; he didn’t need a third. He took another sip as the one beside him spoke up again.
“I came for a similar reason,” he said to neither of them in specific. “This place is rather nice when it’s not busy.”

"I agree. Though my thoughts are it would still be nice when busy as long as like now there's not anyone mistreating potential customers for not liking their biologic aesthetics." She shrugged. Then took another bite of the muffin; it's delicious indeed.

Fawn nodded at them. "Glad ya think so. These are honestly the only days I enjoy working." The woman rubbed her hands up and down her arms. She wasn't cold, the action only served to help tone down her pride. It was her job to make sure everyone got treated fair and she was doing all she can. Fawna looked up as two workers showed up in stained, dirty clothes on their before work hunt for coffee. They waved at the waitress and she hooked two cups on her fingers and took off with the coffee pot. "Morning boys!" She greeted them with two fresh mugs and a happy smile. They chattered their thanks and such as they downed the liquid black. Most of the workers didn't take the time to bother with sugars and creams. Fawn wandered back to the counter and her first two customers. The collar on her uniform, which was necessary to work here, flipped up and she hurriedly folded it back down. How many habits had this place implanted in her? "The owner is planning on going out once a week starting next month I believe. So work gets more enjoyable for me, and y'all get more coffee and muffins without the aggravation and discrimination. It'll be like having a vacation every week." Fawn said looking off into space thoughtfully. She set the glass pot down and smirked at the inside jokes circling her mind.
Turning to look at the new coming workers, Edgar nodded to them before returning to his fleeting cup of coffee. Glancing to the red head beside him, he decided to keep the conversation going. And what better way to do that than advertise his business? “Anapello; Edgar Anapello. If you ever run into anybody looking to hide their heritage, pass my name along.” He held out a hand to the still nameless-person, holding they wouldn’t mind a handshake, despite the claws.

"Oh, so you're Edgar. I heard of you a couple times before, but it's nice having a face to match the name." She shook his hand, no problems with the claws. It'd not like he would suddenly tear off her glove and skin along it, from her point of view those weren't all that different from having long nails (which was quite common, at least among ladies). "I'm Edelweiss Fjäril. And I hope you won't mind giving a working adress along that name, some of my own workers seem quite fond of the idea of paying a visit."
