Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Scoffing at the comment about touching goods, the fox finished the inspection and listened to the man’s concise explanation. It at least sounded like he actually wanted to stop the cult, but well, it was hard to be sure. It always was. His opinion of Anders was sound, at the very least. By the way things sounded, it seemed like this cult might have spurred up from remnants of the old Ander-extremist guild, but it could have spurred up all on its own too. Hard to tell these days.
“You, an ander? Prove it.” If someone didn’t immediately look ander, then it was hard to be sure. Best to ask for proof, especially since humans weren’t welcomed in the guild. If he did turn out to be an ander, then perhaps he could be useful. “And what can you offer to a group? Advertise yourself. What can you do that others usually can’t?”
The man paused for a second and nodded. He took a stance as a blue glow surrounded his hands. He pushed them forward as the glow dissipated. He took a deep breath, [Thank you comic strip knowledge] He thought to himself before he smiled, "I don't think a human could do that, could they?" He then continued, "As for what I can offer? Well I have information on the cult that could help you put a stop to it." He said, "Of course if you don't want the information and want to risk sending scouts out or finding the information the hard way be my guest."

Summoning aura would suffice; at least until humans found a way to mimic that with technology. But his next answer wasn’t quite enough for the leader as he shook his head, bringing his hand up to swirl some magic in it. “Sure, that stuff is great while the cult’s around. But what about after it’s gone? Will you still be useful? We’re not exactly looking for temporary members around here.” And that was true. While the man took his time in making an answer, the fox began to conjure up some magic in his hands, thinking of something fun to try on this stranger. Should he pass, then perhaps he’d be worth having around after all.
Cyric screamed internally...there really wasn't much use for him outside the whole cult thing. He'd need to think of a plan and think of it fast...wait...AH HA! PERFECT! Cyric grinned, "You are also fighting against the shadow beasts are you not?" He said with a confident nod, "Once the cult is done I will help you do whatever it takes to fight off the shadow beasts." Yeah! Perfect! Great idea Cyric! Now to see if that idea would work...

“Your best asset is the fact that you can be cannon fodder?” The ander raised an eyebrow, both amused and concerned at the remark given to him. But, it was something to work with, at least. So as Lasair looked into Cyric’s eyes, he cast a bit of Deceit magic, just enough to bring up an illusion. The eyes of a shadow beast appeared to the side, followed by a low growl. “How do you fare when faced with a beast?” It may not be the best test, but it would give viable results either way.

Cyric smiled, "Yep! Number one cannon fodder right here!" It was then he saw the shadow beast and took a deep breath, "YOu mean like that shadow beast over there?" Cyric asked the man, "Give me my bat and I'll show you!" He said confidently. Step one of being cannon fodder, do not be afraid.

The fox man feigned surprise upon seeing Cyric’s reaction to the shadow beast. He stepped to the side and kicked his bat to him, waiting to see how the man would act. As soon as he picked up the bat to swing, the illusion faded and the beast was gone.
“You’re foolish.” His face was flat, the joking smile gone now. “But, perhaps we can work on that. If you’re willing to that is. Are you ready to fight for a cause past the looming cult? Are you ready to, instead, work on building forming quality between anders and humans alike?” The man had potential, that was true. The ward on finding the building would prevent him from finishing the joining procedure if he weren’t meant to join.

Cyric looked at the man and grinned at the word foolish. That was at least a step up from cannon fodder, "Hey if you are willing to work that is a plus," He stated before he gave a firm nod, "Yeah, I can help you work toward the betterment of relationships," He began to say, he wanted to talk more about the cult. However he decided to be quiet, "Alright, so what happens now?" the ander asked.

“Head that way, about fifty feet, take a left and you should see a large building. Find it and wait there. If you can’t see it, I’m afraid you’ll never be one of us.” He chuckled cynically and took a few steps back, disappearing back into the woods.
Cyric sighed, "So if I can't find the place I can't join." He shrugged, "Well that's a lot better than the cult's recruitment," he mused to himself as he began to walk into the woods. 50 feet...he didn't know how to measure 50 feet but he managed to make a left as he came to a large building, "AH HA!" He smirked as looked to the side and noticed a girl next to him, "You wanting to join these guys too?" He asked her.

A stranger came to the building, asking her a question. She eyed him warily. "Yeah," she answered quietly. She should probably introduce herself, but something forced her to stay quiet. She stood, and tried offering a polite smile. She probably seemed very rude, but yet she hoped not. She tried making herself speak. "You were told to find this building too? It's locked, and nobody is here. I've only been waiting here a minutes though, if even that."

Waiting for Cyric to depart, Lasair waved up at the twins as he walked, calling up to the tree “I’m heading back to see if they made it. You can reveal yourselves or continue to watch from the shadows.” He’d leave it up to them. But for now, he walked casually through the trees, thankful to leave the rotting body behind. Not his responsibility; the shadow beasts would swarm to it soon enough.
He did his best to take his time getting to the HQ, since new members had a tendency to take extra time when finding the base. When he did walk through the trees, coming to the clearing, he was pleased to see both of them present there. Hopefully they hadn’t been waiting long.
Walking across the clearing slowly, he waited until he was next to them before pulling his mask down, revealing his bright orange hair and a soft smile. “Congratulations for making it here. My name is Lasair Landevier Lupen, leader of Magicae Incolentium, the guild of Anders.” He took a small bow to them, his smile growing. He always enjoyed introducing the guild to new members, watching their reactions to him. “Come inside, I have a short introduction to give you and I think you’d prefer to hear it away from the cold.” He walked up to the door and pulled it open for them. Apparently the door wasn’t locked for him.

The man in the fox mask appeared as he came from the trees. When he took off the mask, Lillian observed brightly coloured orange hair. He had a smile on his face, a nice one. She felt a little silly for ever thinking he might kill her. He seemed so friendly. As his smile grew, she couldn't help but return one.
The idea of warmth made Lillian nod vigorously. When he pulled the door open, she noticed it hadn't been locked. Baffled, she asked, "How did you get that door open?" She was sure it had been locked when she tried it.
Cyric looked over at the girl and nodded before the fox man came up to them, "Lasair huh, Honestly I was gonna call you Groose...still might." He laughed as he saw the man open the door, "It might be some magic thingy," He said in regards to the girl's comment, "That or he had the keys..." The brown haired man said as he stroked his chin, "Either way, I am totally ready to go inside and not be eviscerated by shadow beasts JUST yet."

To Lillian’s question he raised an eyebrow, confused as to why he would have trouble opening the door. “I pulled the handle. There’s a little lever on the inside that you can faintly hear click when I do so.” He paused, pressing his fingers firmly against the inside door handle so that the click could be heard. Then he shrugged and opened the door for them, following them inside. “And shadow beasts don’t venture close to this building; it’s a safe haven from man and beast alike,” he said to Cyric then.
“Anyway, MI is a place to practice your skills and further your knowledge. We are a secret guild with the goal of promoting equality between anders and humans alike.” Walking forward, he stopped at the wall across from the entryway, pointing to a picture hanging on the wall, the frame a sparkling gold. “Most of what you need to know is outlined on >this<, but there is one bit of information missing.” He pointed to the column of shelves along the wall to the side. “You’ll need to make a mask. Any kind of mask really. So long as you make it. Can’t have a shop owner identifying you as the one who bought one of theirs, now can we?” Continuing to smile, he waited for their reactions (and any potential questions) before continuing.
