Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

“A wise move, not drinking the stock.” He set the glass down and returned to cleaning one of the tables.
“My story?” I don’t really have one. Moved out at an early age to apprentice under a barber. Took over his shop, then opened my own through the Mingo’s. Nothing glamorous, but it’s a life.”

Pyre stopped the polishing to look back at the other man, “Ha that sounds almost too normal I almost don't believe that to be factual.”
Pyre returned to giving the bar a polish, “hang on you never did really say why you're helping, you wanted a chat what on earth could that be about?” He scanned the man, “A barber, what could a barber ask a tavern owner?”

The feline Ander chuckled dryly. “The best businesses are illegal, yeah? So to have one of the best businesses, you also need to have a second business. A front. And only those with believable fronts actually succeed in that shady business, correct?”
The tavern owner was figuring it out. He was a smart man, well, smart in business at least. Edgar had caught on to that rather quickly.

Pyre laughed “Oh, I understand perfectly what you mean you think this place pays the bills?” Pyre now had one thought on his mind what was the business behind the barber front? Pie maker? Now that just seems a bit too cliché.

“Hmm,” Edgar mused, continuing with the cleaning work. He poured some more of the liquid onto the rag before continuing. “A very popular tavern could, but I have a feeling this place isn’t the talk of the city.” He looked out to all the other tables covered in filth. No, not the most popular place, but it still had people coming in and out to cause all this gunk.

Pyre worked his was from the bar to the shelves to begin cleaning once more "Well as you can see this place is quite filthy so it has had people in and out, but then again the people who cause this filth are not the most valuable customers." Pyre enjoyed this non direct talking made the job of cleaning oh so much more enjoyable.
"I also imagine that your barbers is not as honest as you let on, you seem to know a lot about the fun side of business and well unless your here to round in a customers and targeted me because of my beautifully messy looks." Pyre grinned looking back at the man awaiting a response, "that and im sure one extra patron wont help the till."

He also enjoyed this non-direct chatting. It was like a game, and he who slipped up first would lose. “The valuable customers do tend to be a bit neater,” he chuckled lightly.
So he decided to make that move, hm? Edgar thought a moment before answering. “I wasn’t lying; I do have a quiet little barbershop.” He paused a moment, gauging the man’s reaction before continuing. “But it’s not my only business. And in the case of my other business, I can’t exactly go shouting on the street to advertise it.” Yes he was here to plant a few rumors, maybe draw in a few customers. That sort of thing. And he’d do the same for this man if that were possible.
“Oh, I know how you feel on that front got to find the correct contacts to keep business afloat its terribly annoying if you find a little bird who sings.” He like the man's honesty on this topic but could how easily he spoke be a hindrance or was he just a good judge of character. “Okay, I am all ears follow me.” Pyre opened the back door and walked down into the stock room. He then slid a rack filled with empty barrels to the side. “Stop cleaning and lets use the nice room.” He hollered up the stairs.

It seemed that this man had a secret shop as well. Dropping the rag on a table, the feline Ander followed behind him, past the rank and down the stairs, encountering a room that seemed much neater than the one above it.
He glanced around, trying to gauge what kind of business he had going here. “I’m going to guess you’re a middle man of sorts. Passing along secret things to secret people. Am I close?” Even if he wasn’t, there weren’t many uses for a secret space like this.

Pyre grinned “I am impressed you are very close to the mark.” He led the man and offered him a seat at the solid wood table in the centre of the room. Pyre opened the draws of small work desk and threw some tools into it, he picked up a pocket watch and threw that in the draw as well at his touch the watch door flew open and the clock stopped ticking instantly. “Dam it, he know to put the repaired goods away.”
Pyre looked back at his guest and shut the door to the room, “So as you can clearly see from that display I am an Ander well, technically.”
He looked the man to gauge a reaction, “If that isn’t a problem, let us talk business.”

Taking a seat at the table, Edgar watched with a curious eye as he picked up the watch, only for it to break in his hands. Yup, definetly an Ander; which didn’t bother Edgar one bit. He chuckled for a moment, a dry chuckle that hardly came with a smile. Bringing his hands onto the table he pulled off his gloves, revealing the glossy black claws beneath them. He clasped his hands on the table, looking to the man with a raised eyebrow.
“I knew you were an ander when I watched you freeze the ice. But yes, down to business. I promise I’ll play nice.” He found amusement in his own rhyme. “Would you like to go first or should I explain my job which is no worse?”

Pyre laughed, "Well my job is no petty crime, but do tell your story if you have time." He was smug that he managed to replied in a rhyme as and it not being half bad.
"On a serious note my 'Side' and front business lends me the aid of a lot of contacts. Mind you not all of them are clean cut and would have my head if they worked out I was a half-breed."
Pyre look at the man's nails and nodded showing he recognised that he was at least part Ander. "But please do tell me of what sort of business you run along the barbers."

The feline smiled his weird mouth-twitch sort of smile. He wouldn’t beat around the bush anymore. “I work in the trade of helping Anders hide their heritage. Not everyone is lucky enough to find a job that doesn’t check their background. I help those sorts of people. For a fee of course.”
He brought his hands apart and drummed the claws of one hand against the countertop as he spoke. The sound they made when tapping things was always pleasing to his ears for some reason. “Would you mind passing on word of my business to your patrons who are Ander and need to pretend not to be? Surely you encounter at least some of them from time to time.”

Pyre looked at him with intrigue, “wo wo wait you mean like the patterns on the backs of the winged Anders?” the business has interested him quite a bit.”What is is specifically, that you can hide.”
Pyre was eager he wanted to know everything, “Oh and yes I'm sure I can find a few people who could use this service, I run a neutral business so Anders know its safe to come in.”

It seemed the man was interested in the feline’s business; that was always a good sign. “My business specialties include turning wings into their tattooed counterparts, covering the tattoos with a very, uh, convincing cover up, gloves with claws that are actually comfortable, as well as boots, goggles and glasses that mask the eye glow, and there is a procedure that’s still relatively experimental, but I can give those blacked blooded ones some red blood for a time.”
The tapping of his claws ceased as he looked up at Pyre with an amused glance. “It’s the art of deception.”
