Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Watching those two women flit over the sweets, the noble had a feeling that this little outing might make more of a dent in his wallet than expected. Solanna was practically bouncing around like a child. "You sure know your sweets, Miss Chat. You can get more than one if you like," he responded with a pleasant smile. Next he addressed Mr. Lerwick: "I think I might just take you up on that, Mr. Lerwick. Would you be willing to split the bill; I fear my funds might be depleted otherwise," he let out a bit of a sigh, giving the man an apologetic look. This was all formalities of course.

Charles chuckled but stopped his advance on the girl, leaving her some arm room. Still in good spirits, he turned to Amon with a grin. "I haven't a need for an extra maid so I would prefer that this clockwork doll greet my house guests and maybe provide musical entertainment. I like the idea as having her as a surveillance doll like yours. Would it also be possible for her to keep track of my son's spending and whereabouts?" One more glance at Pearl, his smile widened as he gestured to her, "To be honest Amon, I would rather have my doll look like this fine young lady than what i originally described to you."

'Wow.' Was the first word that crossed the redhead's mind as she watched Solanna appreciating the sweets and pastries. The blindfolded girl seemed to have an even bigger sweettooth than herself. Nothing wrong with that though, it was in fact rather amusing - and watching Stephen lament for his wallet and plead to Iacomus to share the bill made Edelweiss chuckle.
Pearl got some of her personal space back. Alright, she'd be content with that for now. Giving a silent relieved sigh as the broad man turned his attention back to Amon, the girl was starting to turn around to look for somewhere she could sit down and await for her turn to talk better to Amon (Couldn't she just buy everything there? She liked his shop better than the rest of the Merchants District, his things didn't seem keen of exploding on her. The thought of having to wander through different stores in that place made her nervous and she pouted childishly), but then the next things Charles said registered in her mind. Track Stephen down. And a doll like her.
The first wasn't as much her business, although in part it was since information was what he got her income from. But Edelweiss was fond of the humanoid cat friend, and Pearl was fond of Edelweiss, so she might do the lad a favor and tell the lad his father is planning to spy on him for free.
The second sent a shiver down her spine, that ended becoming a churning feeling instead. A doll like her. To please guests. And Pearl slowly turned back to where the two men were talking, her fringe obscuring the look in her eyes from view and her claws twitching within her gloves.
No... no, Anna! Anna no! Don't you dare! came the reproaching voice of her sister inside her head as Stephen uttered those dreadful words, but the sister in control simply ignored her and squealed in delight before turning to the store owners and loudly and proudly declaring, "We'll take them all!" The bakers blinked before trying to address what she meant by all. "All, as in all of them! Lely here and his friend said they were going to pay... soooo... all!" she giggled before Sol mentally slapped her across the head, the real world result being her holding her head as if she was having a headache. "Fiiiine... er... one of each be okay?" she asked, partially to the owners, and partially to her sister. All she heard was a sigh from Sol. Fine... but if I wind up having to be the one to put up with the stomach-ache later, you are going to be in trouble. Solanna's face returned to its usual happy smiling self.
"Ah...well..." Amon started, rubbing the back of his head. "These dolls...how should I put it...these dolls are currently indoors only. Due to them having rather delicate mechanisms, I wouldn't recommend being outside all that much, lest they run into magical entities and break. I will be including something special to prevent that from happening, but I would still be cautious. Only reason why I let mine outside, is cause they are my test subjects; I need them to help me gauge how much outside interaction they can handle," he continued, trying his best to convince Charles. As much as he would like to use Charles and this doll as another set of test subjects, there was no way he was going to let the man keep a short leash on Stephen. As one of his few friends, Amon owed Stephen that much at least.
"So in summary, it will greet guests, provide musical entertainment, and act as surveillance for the house. You can have it help with your's and your son's finances, but I would strongly suggest that it stays close to home. Furthermore, I would strongly recommend you stick with your initial design; I don't think Pearl here would be pleased knowing that there was a programmable double of herself walking around," he said, noticing the girl's growing bloodlust.

Stephen about choked when he heard the foreign woman's proclamation. "Well, that settles it, last time I extend a kind gesture to anyone," he groaned, fishing out his wallet already. He almost felt the need to hold a funeral service for the small item. A simple apology would have to suffice: "I am so sorry," he confessed to the small leather item.
~~~
Charles's smile widened a bit, "I see. Well, whether you say that purely on a logical sense or you say if for my son's behalf, it's nice to know he has some decent friends." Though his words were pleasing, the way he said them made one wonder if he we truly sincere. He turned once more to the girl, the smile still present on his face, "I apologize if I have insulted you at my suggestion. You're just such a rare beauty; I meant it as a compliment, dear." Charles chuckled a little to himself then turned once again to Amon, "I appear to have worn out my welcome- which is just as well; These old bones need a nap. I leave the rest of the details to my son. If he feels the need to change the doll's design, so be it. Thank you Amon, I look forward to seeing how this turns out. If this doll is as good as I suspect it will be, I will certainly suggest you services to my other wealthy friends."
"You can be sure that it'll be better than you expect it to be," Amon replied with a smile. However, as soon as Charles left and was out of sight (and earshot) Amon swiftly slammed his head on the table.
"I really, really needed that..." he groaned, lifting his head off the table, rubbing his forehead with his human hand. "Really hoping the apple falls as far as possible from the tree," he continued, making a few more notes before returning his attention to Pearl.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure the Doll won't be able to keep too much track of Stephen...just enough to satisfy Charles but still keep that boy in the clear. Though a fair warning would be nice. Now, can I see that list please?"
Oh the faces Edelweiss would have pulled if she could witness the scenes that just unfolded within Amon's shop, ALL the faces! Fortunately or not though, the redhead was away, blissfully clueless about those events and enjoying the sweet environment of the bakery - and its doughnuts.
Once Charles had already left, Pearl hesitantly walked forward and held out the folded piece of paper with her groceries list for Amon to take. The mechanic tried to reassure her that Stephen would stay in the clear, but as much as that was also appreciated the girl's thoughts at the moment were still focused on another tangent. "Do you think Edel would hate me if I neutered Stephen's father..." Her fingers were still twitching slightly, sharp little claws hidden by the gloves begging to be used and at the same time hoping for being denied. Pearl didn't want to hurt anyone. But at the same time she did want to hurt Charles. What an ironic contradiction.
"I don't think hate is the correct word there," replied Amon as he looked over the list. "You know her better than I do, yet I believe you'd have to do something rather extreme to earn her hate. Though even if you make sure it doesn't break any of your rules and/or actually earn her approval, I wouldn't do it if I were you; something tells me that man wouldn't actually change for the better," he continued, writing down a few notes on Pearl's list.
"Here you go" he said, handing over the list with some addresses written down. "Gabe's place across the street would have the clocks you are looking for. There's another guy down the street who can help you with the frames. The music box I can make for you. The knives on the other hand...well...there's yet another guy for that. If what he has doesn't match what you want, I can make those too," he continued with a small smile and a shrug.
"Anything else I can help you with? Edel, Stephen, and a few other people should be at one of the bakeries around here."
Iacomus smiled bitterly. Of course the noble would pull a stunt. "Please child, I don't think either of us could possibly pay for each and every pastry here." He chuckled. It seemed as if Steven was apologizing to his wallet. Was he really going through with this? If that was the case... "Oh dear, I appear to have left my money at home! I apologize for the inconvenience Mr. Leland, but I must rely on your generosity... Although I do have a friend who frequents this bakery. I might want to bring some back for him as well... One of everything for me as well too, please!"
Wow. Those people were evil. Not even her would manage to be that mean. And Stephen was indeed apologizing to his wallet, the poor thing. "Stephen, just handle Miss Chat's order... I can pay for my own doughnuts this time. "
