Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
"You know, you wouldn't be so tired if you had gone to sleep earlier like I said."
"And like I said, I needed to run a few more tests to make sure you two were in good condition."
"I would interject and say that our condition is predicated on yours."
"She's got a point you know..."
Amon could only stare at his two new companions. One was dressed as a nurse, currently sweeping the floor, and the other was dressed like some sort of paper boy, and was sitting on a barrel near the door, seemingly asleep. To add to the oddity, both were merely three-feet tall, and both had a metalic sheen to their "skin." Irregardless of appearance, they were the culmination of Amon's research and two months of building, though calling them a "success" is a bit of a stretch...
"I wish you had the decency to at least clean up every so often...you'll drive away potential customers if your shop is dusty," said the one dressed as a nurse.
"Speaking of..." said the one on the barrel, opening his eyes.

Stephen opened the door with a yawn. He had stayed out late on a mission last night and it was taking a toll on him today. "Good Day Amon, I have a few questions about one of your...." His sentence dropped off when he noticed the small machines in the room. "... If I am correct, those are clockwork dolls... Why are they midgets though?" he asked with a confused frown. "Where did you get them from?... Wait, did you make these?!" his eyebrows shot up as he frowned at the tiny one that looked like a maid.
"-Would like to officially add 'midget' to the list of insults."
"Hey, don't be rude."
"The brat started it."
"And I'm ending it!" shouted Amon. "Abe, I thought I warned you about your behavior, especially around Stephen," he sighed, rubbing his temples.
"Stephen, I'd like you to meet Abigail, or Abby..."
"Please to meet you," replied the one dressed like a nurse, curtsying.
"...and Abraham, or Abe."
"Whatever," replied the one on the barrel, closing his eyes.
"The short answer is, yes, I built them. To be more precise, they were my only prototype, which leads me to regretfully inform you that progress on your family's doll has hit a slight bump in the road...and thus will be delayed," Amon explained with a yawn.
"...Rough night for you too...?" he inquired, noting Stephen's tired face.

Stephen snorted "You have no idea." He walked over to Abe to get a better look. Eyeing the doll from a safe distance- Abe seemed to be somewhat irritable- he shook his head slightly. "These are just prototypes? You are a spectacular mechanic if that is so. This one could have an attitude check of course. That would irritate quite a few people but I suppose some of those... peculiar nobles just might enjoy his wit" he commented, making a face as he talked about the other nobles. "What can they do?" he asked, curiosity in his face as he turned back to Amon.

The door opened again from the outside.
"-Ok so I went ahead and got some notes from a few of the locals up town, did some favors for a few copies of their "owners manuals" back when clockwork dolls were the norm-ello." He cut off, seeing Stephen in between him and the others. "Amon, you got a customer!" He shouted, in case the man hadn't noticed yet.

Stephen blinked at the interruption, frowning some. "Does he work here?" Stephen asked, eyeing the familiar man. "We have met before but I do recall you forgetting to tell me your name.." he said hesitantly. If the man worked for Amon, he would be polite since Amon was a good acquaintance. If he was nothing to them both, he was an insignificant fellow who he would pay no attention to.
"-Somehow made the two of us after 'fixing' a single doll...a 'great' genius really."
"...I don't know whether to praise you for successfully utilizing sarcasm, or to berate you for continuing to be rude."
"...I have no idea how to 'fix' their attitudes...especially since they 'woke up' like that..." moaned Amon, head on the table. "And yes, I can clearly see that Mulven...though you have my thanks for gathering more notes; I'll compare them to what I have to see if I can make any improvements," he said, raising his head.
"Stephen, Mulven doesn't work here, so to speak, but he is a member of Mingo's and a great help to me in gathering info on the dolls. As to what Abe and Abby can do...not much at the moment, but I hope to teach or have them acquire skills at some point..."
"I just make sure people don't steal things," interjected Abe.
"I can clean and cook," piped Abby.
"...I think Amon will agree with me in that your cooking needs work..."
"Rude."
"...at some point..." moaned Amon, head on the table again.

Mulven stared at the walking talking things, and he grinned, despite that attitudes they seemed to have retained.
"Well done Amon, well done indeed!" He clapped his hands slowly and walked closer to the little animated can of bolts. "How do they stay animated? Do they have a battery? Did you sort out the power issue, I mean clearly, but how?" He asked in wonder, completely forgetting the other man in the room.

Stephen made a face, not happy with being ignored. "I would like to know if you found any information on the power source" he added, turning once more to Amon. Mulven was not worth his time, so he would get no attention from this noble.
"It's really nothing too fancy; I wasn't able to figure out how to make them a battery..."
"Which would have been nice."
"...So I made do with a slightly complex winding system. They need to be rewound every-so-often..."
"A minor annoyance."
"...But hey, it works! By the way, did you need me for something Stephen...?" said Amon, gesturing to Mulven for the notes.

Mulven quickly stepped to and handed off the papers. A few leafs fell out of the binding, many of the manuals well used, and he stooped to collect them and hand them over a second time. Now he remembered the second person in the room and turned to face Stephen right after Amon addressed him. The fancy-pants looked awfully familiar.

Stephen nodded "Indeed I did. I was just curious; I saw this shop down the street- some parts shop. I believe it is owned by a man by the name of... oh, Mr. Lerwick if I'm recalling correctly. I was wondering about his shop. Is he a member of Mingo's as well?" he asked in a bored tone, picking up a toy to examine. "I apologize for coming to you with these questions but I was not entirely sure that her was in at the moment." This was his way of digging up information on Iacomus. Maybe Amon knew of his... peculiar habit of going at late and night and coming back with human items in his possession. Glancing back to them, he caught Mulven giving him an odd look. No doubt the man had forgotten their past meetings. How very typical.
