Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

The doorbell chimed when the redhead entered the shop and she glanced around with a look of distracted curiosity. The skills merchant was in town, and it was about time she paid him a visit - discretion being the keyword here as she calmly wandered by shelves and showcases of the whole shop before approaching his balcony. Truth to be told, Edelweiss' mild fascination for the technological tools and geared gadgets was frank and she sincerely found them interesting, even though any use she could make of them (if at all) was oh so limited below their real capacity. And that also meant it was not technology she had been after in that place. "What can I do for you, lad?" She heard the merchant ask, clearly having wanted to finish the sentence with something casually educated but missing her gender like a lot of people did. That made her smile amusedly, and she made a hand gesture towards the spells and skills displayed to indicate what she wanted, but didn't really correct his wrong greeting. "One rank II Skill, and three of rank I please." She pulled out her own money to count in her hands before setting the ammount over the counter: she had brought 40EMP on her, and 32 would be enough for what she had been looking for, but there was enough for an extra. Considering that, she new exactly what she would choose. "Hypnosis II, Unarmed Combat I, Deceit I..." she kept watching the other customers from the corner of her eyes to make sure no one was particularly paying attention to her. "...and Poisons I."
Last Edit: Mar 19, 2014 17:08:51 GMT by Edelweiss Fjäril: got EMP through artwork enough to buy one more Skill (gona be completely broke after though...)

Roan stumbled into the merchant's room and, after stopping, turned to see Adelheid standing behind him, arms crossed. Roan's fellow cadet obviously was not happy with Roan's lack of fighting skill, and took it upon himself to fix that.
"You ain't gonna last in a sparring match with me if ya ain't even trained in a bit o' unarmed combat. Go on, getchu some skills and then come back to the barracks for a couple o' rounds! I'll make a man outta you yet, Ro!"
Roan clenched his messenger bag awkardly and bit his bottom lip before turning to the merchant, and back to Adelheid. "I dunno... I've had some boxing practice back home. I'm not that bad... right?" he asked in earnest. Adelheid let out a bellowing laugh before shaking his head. "Man, my lil' sis could take you out blindfolded! How do you expect to shut Calen up next time he starts pushin' you around? Go on, get!"
Roan sighed and walked over to the counter. He forced a smile before reaching into his messenger bag and removing the necessary Europium. "Oh, neat. A sale. Well... let me get some training in Unarmed Combat 1. UC 1."

Rather then heading for the library or back to her room, Lorraine made her way into the city in search of a particular shop. When she'd come across it, she ushered herself and the fox at her feet in then looked about at the endless display of varying knowledge. Her brows raised with respect at everything that surrounded her and although the books behind the merchant at the desk were unsettling, everything else within the shop was rather interesting. "Excuse me, sir," she called to the man behind the counter then approached him. "I heard you could offer some help with certain skills. Sword Fighting II and Bow I would be what I am seeking," said the woman as she removed a pouch from her side and dumped the necessary coins on the counter.

Stephen opened the doors to the infamous 'Skill's Merchant's' shop. The place was already bustling with people. His father had already told him what to get. Unarmed Combat I (8 points) and Knife Fighting I (8 points). Nothing else. Stephen looked longingly at Robatics I but walked past it. Though it would have been nice to disobey his fathers orders and get Robotics instead he did not want to be beaten to an inch of his life by the bear of a man. He sauntered up to the counter and smacked down the payment "Unarmed Combat I and Knife Fighting I" he grumbled with a scowl.

Danny bounced up to the merchant and rummaged around his person. A coin here, a coin there... eventually he had out thirty-two coins. "Alright! Gimme Haste II an' Sword Fightin' I. Think that'll be everythin' t'day! Might come back again if I get some good sales goin', ya know?" Danny's good mood seemed almost infectious to the other patrons in the shop.

It was time to expand one's horizons beyond simple slicing and cutting and since his induction to CAEsAL, the magician was quite taken with how one of the members came to be known for a tool to ignite fire. Such thoughts had him think of all the possibilities and so he found himself seeking to learn more magics. Having heard the skills merchant would take up shop within Lodan, Addison thought to visit the man and soon was within the building surrounded by all sorts of trades one could imagine. However, none of these things interested him save for the books behind the man at the counter. With a broad grin, he made his way to the counter and set a pouch of coins before him. "I would like Pyromancy I and then I would like Pyromancy II while I am at it. I seem to have some spare change so how about Frostmancy I as well."
He walked into the store and looked around, ignoring everyone else. He wasn't wearing his uniform today, instead donning a heavy brown jacket that left question to his stature and build. He also had a large hat on that cocked down over his face. He approached the Merchant wearily, taking a final look around to make sure no one was watching, "Yes, I seem to have misplaced my Sword Fighting 2 manual, I need another copy, and if you could throw in Armor I as well." He said, sliding the EMP across the desk.
After having been on the receiving end of one too many scraps, the thief girl decided that perhaps it was time for a change in that routine. She went into the merchants shop and saw that there were some new books, thankfully these ones came with pictures on the front to show what they were besides the wording. "Hmm..." she mused to herself as she considered her options before counting her coins. drat it... only eleven... Could save for the bigger spells though... Ikuze considered her options, before heading to the merchant, her thoughts going over the past few weeks and months. "I'll take the Healing I please." she said, sliding the coins over, after making sure nobody in the shop saw her or heard her. Hopefully now with this spell her blood wouldn't be too much of a giveaway. She did eye the tome marked Hypnosis though... already planning on what she was going to get next time around. Now she had a plan of action.

Caitlin wondered into the skills merchants shop and couldn't help but notice all the promotional materials advertising his third line of wares. The Combat Skills list went on and on. Her eyes skimmed through it rapidly, then flew back up to the SF skills. She was a decent swordswoman, but she couldn't help feeling curious what other insights could be gleaned through the knowledgeable skills merchant, a man with unseemly connections to resources that was next to none.
"Hello," she greeted the man behind the counter. "I heard about the sale but not about this," she waved her hands over the new selections. "I'll take SF I and II please."
Gently she placed the 24 pieces of EMP on the counter and provided her name when asked to be penned into his ledger.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin
Though few things genuinely surprised him, Amon couldn't help but be amazed at the Skill Merchant's wares. Mulven's account of the merchant was almost an understatement; the amount of knowledge stored in the room bordered on ungodly. With it, the merchant could almost have anything he wanted. Instead, he was just giving it away...at a price...literally.
"Dunno what he would want with money," thought Amon as he made his way to the merchant, trying to ignore the twitching in him arm. "Maybe he fills up a pool with these coins and attempts to swim in them." Amused by the thought, he scanned the wares until he saw what he was looking for. He reached for his money bag, testing its weight. He had enough for a second skill, and there were so many tempting options available...
"No," he thought, "Better save this for the next time he comes around." He looked once more at the skill he required, then put 16 EMP on the counter.
"Robotics II."
