A birthday invite for the lovely Lasair Landevier Lupen
The halls of MI were quiet on this late November afternoon. Silence reigns in most of the alcoves and rooms left absent of a crackling fireplace and a curious soul to research the collection of tomes that the large temple-like structure was known for. However, for one, the lack of distraction was welcome as they painstakingly adjust a piping bag in their hands and squeeze out a colorful sky blue into letters on a bed of simple buttercream frosting. It wasn't her finest work of art but she thinks it's turning out well! As long as her hand isn't cramping up from having to figure out how to coerce this bag of icing to work with her. She only had four more letters to power through...
Once finished she set the icing bag aside and proudly examines her masterpiece for any imperfections that she could tidy up before being soundly satisfied. Crossing the kitchen to a different cabinet she opens the doors above her head to pull down two small plates before setting them on the counter below. Adding forks to the top plate she waltzes around to give a speedy clean to the kitchen before she wanders off to prevent others from coming in to find a mild explosion of flour, sugar, and vanilla. Best to leave it manageable so she could really finish deeply cleaning it later.
Now comes the fun part!
Elaine walks the halls and into the library balancing a small cake in one hand and holding plates and forks in the other. Knowing that the red head of hair hunched over books at one of the tables was exactly what she was looking for as she hums a familiar tune upon entering the room. Approaching him without hesitation the feline set down the most peculiar thing on the table when she finally got to it. It was a little cake frosted by neat buttercream and on the top of it, in between some unlit candles, is written 'Happy Birthday!' in the most cheerful little script. The candles are topped with little flames made of paper that she's glued to the wicks for safety reasons. Generally fire and countless, irreplaceable tomes were not a mix she would like to make. She also had not made the effort to put as many candles as would be mathematically correct for them both because there would be more wax than cake. She smiles so brightly as she lays the plates down beside it and lightly places the forks that clink against the ceramic. As she got it settled she pulls a chair back for herself and sings cheerfully,
"Happy birthday to us,
Happy birthday to us!
It's rather late but,
Happy birthday to us!"
Elaine smiles as she sat down and props her chin up on her hands, "It's well past October but I see no reason we can't have a little celebration amongst ourselves, there's never not a good time for cake. Happy (belated) Birthday Lasair!"
