Hey all!
To keep the interest high, we hope to have weekly updates, leading up to the grand reopening. There are some things we need to cover this week, so without further ado:
To start, we have The Fortune Teller! Originally mentioned back during the implementation of Stats and Active Skills, we are fully opening this place as a living document for any and all changes to your character (rather than on your profile, which can quickly become busy, cramped, and overall hard to properly edit/navigate). With that said, in an effort to clean up the profiles, please list only your total stats on your profile. Although you can still use your profile as another way to track your skills, the Fortune Teller will be the de facto information source we will use.
Next up, Missions! Although not completely ready to roll out quite yet, here is what we plan to implement:
Missions can be considered a combination of both mini-events and prompts. Missions can be done solo or in a group, though there may be restrictions and conditions, to include minimum/maximum number of participants, page length/word count, etc.
Similar to prompts, a baseline reward will be given with each completed mission, though this baseline will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. This is additive to whichever medium that you complete the mission, which will be scored based on the medium you choose (i.e. comic, written prompt, animation, etc.). Members may choose to collaborate, and although the medium points will be split like other collab works, the baseline score will be awarded to each member. Be aware that the reward may be decreased if you do not follow the restrictions posted.
If members wish to, they may make a thread to more organically RP how they will take down the mission, but unlike event threads, the thread will be scored as if it were a written submission.
* Note: when doing an RP-based mission, please add “mission start” and “mission complete” tags, to annotate when the mission officially starts and ends. Although extra RP’ing is fine, we want to award points on the main focus of the RP (the Mission) and avoid granting excess points on fluff at the beginning/end of the thread.
Members may submit mission targets/suggestions, though there will be a limit as to how many are up at once. Furthermore, it will be first come, first serve; whoever lets an admin know first will get first dibs at the mission. However, missions will cycle, so if you don’t get the chance to get it the first time, it may come back around later. Please note: although we would hesitate to put a time limit on when to complete the mission, take too long, and it will be marked as a failure. If you are not able to complete the mission, you may turn in whatever you have to be scored, and you may get a smaller reward for participation. The failed mission will then be put up for grabs once more. Regardless of success or failure, please refrain from picking the same mission over and over again, to allow other members to try it out for themselves. You can have only one active mission per member (no picking missions for each of your alts, only one mission at a time).
Finally, we will have the end of The Festival of Hearts 2018! Yes, it's been over 2 years, life got in the way of me being able to post/help finish it. We will be posting a wrap-up post summarizing what actually happens at the end (well, one of the planned endings). This is to help segue us into the next chapter of Lodan, as well as officially put an end to an event that is long overdue. We will make an official announcement as to when the final post will be made, so you still have some time to make a cameo post (or two) before we officially wrap it up.
There are also some Skill clarifications and specifications in the works, but nothing too major at the moment. I will make a small announcement in the discord when they happen, so keep an eye out!
That's all for now. Hope to see more of you soon!
