Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to my sweet Edelweiss Fjäril and my lovely Lasair Landevier LupenThe day was fair as the feline walked down the cobbled street listening to the din of a normal day in the city. Her mind buzzing with thoughts that she tossed back and forth as Cas trotted dutifully at her heels. He would bump her legs every now and again which would bring her back from her mental wanderings so that she'd adjust where she was walking so that she stayed out of the street. Her little herd dog watching people around her and shaking out his thick fur. Elaine smiled and scratched behind his ears, "Are you excited to go see Edelweiss?" Cas woofed softly as he looked up at her before lolling his tongue out in a happy doggy smile. She laughed knowing her pet absolutely adored the redhead, and at least tolerated another she had come to decide to spend quite a bit of time with. This was the purpose of her trip today, there were conversations to be had and actions to be taken. Elaine did rub at her arm apprehensively knowing the conversation coming wasn't one she'd ever expected to have and not anything she'd had been able to rehearse to get her thoughts in order.
She looked down at the road ahead of her as she chewed her lip gently. Raising her hand to push her curls out of her eyes and attempt to secure them behind her ear so they'd stay that way. Unaware at the moment of what was anywhere but in front of her.

It was already that day, huh? Lasair glanced down at his shoes, wishing he had a pocket watch to fiddle with while he walked. But no, his heritage forbade him from any such luxury. Instead his hand played around with a stone that was in his pocket, rubbing it and turning it over from time to time. It was something, at least. He tried rehearsing what he wanted to say, thinking over various conversation paths in his mind. Ultimately though, they led to dead ends and blank stares. He had tried giving up on the task, but only partially succeeded. It still played in the background of his thoughts, but now he busied himself with trying to find Elaine. They hadn't exactly said where they would find each other today, but Lasair had a hunch.
He followed his intuition to the theater district, keeping a vigilant eye to the crowds as he passed through them. Surely he could spot her among them, if only he looked hard enough. What he ended up spotting was a familiar fluffy tail heading down the street. And next to it was the long brown hair of a girl he recognized. Picking up his pace he walked towards her, catching up quickly enough to tap her shoulder. Falling into old habits, he took a moment to bow when she turned around, smiling as he looked up. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance again, Madam Anncroft."

The large packages held in her hands would need to be properly sorted and placed in the guild's stock, but for now she didn't mind them. It was funny how the paths of balconies and arching roofs could be so much more of a shortcut than the twisting streets in this city, even for the simplest things. Edelweiss let her feet guide her through the district rooftops, and then to the veranda of her office, taking a moment to look back and just breathe before walking inside. The city air was fresher up there, and the breeze gentle. The sight wasn't anything to scoff at either. Elaine had requested to come over and talk, and the redhead had no idea what for, but figured she'd find out soon either way... and look who's down there!
The redhead's face practically lit up as the spotted the pair standing together two floors below, and a (ridiculously short) instant later she was already threading through the street, slipping by one passerby or another to reach Elaine and Lasair. "'Laine, Las! Over here!" Nevermind the grocery bags still hooked to her arm.

Elaine cast her gaze back over her shoulder as someone tapped it and feeling Cas slink around her legs to put himself in between them. The smirk on her face softening into a smile as he addressed her. "Will you ever just call me Elaine when you first see me?" She teased as Cas sniffed at Lasair then snorted hard, his head shaking. He refused to move from his position around Elaine's legs, his guard dog stance absolutely adorable to the feline. Though perhaps not so for Lassy. She pet his head as she struck up conversation, "I wasn't expecting you for another short while. I was just about to see-" Speak of the devil she thought as she grinned and turned to see Edelweiss coming to greet them.
Cas perked his ears and barked at the guild leader before turning an excited circle on the spot. Looking up at his familiar for permission, which was granted with a wave of her hand in Edel's direction, and bounding to meet the redhead. Turning circles around her ankles and looking up with his tongue lolling out of his grin. Elaine stepping up to help take some of the load from Edel's arms. "Are you hibernating in your office now? Is this the final hunt before I never see you outside the office for months?" The feline was joking, though she knew it was a true possibility considering why she came.

As usual, Cas is as adorable as only a dog can be, and Edelweiss crouched down to greet him as he came towards her, gloved hands reaching out to scratch behind his ears. "Hello, Cas. Are you on duty as Elaine's fluffiest guardian today too? Good boy~"
The greeting from the brunette gal got an appreciative smile on her lips, and she stood up to pass over one of the bags to her. "I think you've directed those questions to the wrong ginger." She chuckled, a slightly raised eyebrow and teasing tone as she glanced at the man in question. "Right, Las? I'd heard you'd returned, but didn't even glimpse your shadow till now. What did Elaine do to unearth you from your intellectual burrow?"
Nevertheless, there's a hug incoming. And since Elaine is present and Edelweiss has zero intention of ignoring her, that means the brunette will be included in the middle like the filling of a sandwich. A very tight sandwich. "Welcome back. ...As for the bags, no, just the usual restocking trip. Alma was busy this time so I went on my own." There were two large bags, the one still in her own grip filled with an assortment of medicine, cleaning supplies and miscelaneous items, while the one now in Elaine's hands was filled to the brim with bags of flour, salt and sugar. Despite the description, Elaine would soon be able to verify that despite the size and contents, her bag weighed no more than a soap bubble.
"Shall we head back inside? I bet the kids will want to see you both too. And Cas as well, of course."

Lasair didn't let the canine barrier stop him from standing close to Elaine, the dog just had a set distance was all. He hardly batted an eye at Cas as he answered her. "But if I were to do that, then I would lose the dramatic effect miss Elaine!" As if summoned expressly, Edelweiss appeared on the street and came forward to greet them. Lasair was a bit surprised at the sudden meeting, but he didn't let the shock get to him. He took a small step back from Cas and greeted Edelweiss with a smile. "Honestly I ran into her by chance when I first arrived and she started asking me questions. And well, I had to keep running into her to keep answering them." He didn't want to admit that he had been avoiding all his old contacts in the city, or admit that he wasn't sure how many of them were left. But at the very least she seemed happy to see him and that was a good start.
At her question of where to head from here, he glanced at Elaine before nodding. "We can head wherever you like."

Elaine laughed as she was squished so between them, readjusting the bag as they let go. She let it pull her arm down like it had a decent bit of weight. no need to raise any suspicion on the street. Glancing between Lasair and Edelweiss as they spoke. Growing attentive when the conversation was prompted to be moved. "Inside you go, I'll help you put up whatever you need." She whistled at Castiel who came to heel at her feet follow them inside. He sniffed at the bags curiously until Elaine swatted his nose away. "Nothing in there is for you."
Inside the coolness of the building Elaine breathed in deeply and relaxed her shoulders a bit more. Comfortable in the familiar space. "If I may, Edel I'd like to talk in your office when we get finished." The woman kept her tone light and nonchalant to ease any jitters she may have had. Hearing the voices of children drift through the walls, turning her head to attempt to pinpoint the sound. "They probably miss Lassy far more than me, though I'm not as sure about Lasair versus Castiel." Her dog barked which raised the volume of the voices. Elaine laughing as they drew nearer.

It's not like the redhead didn't notice, already past the stage of suspiciousness only, that Lasair had been avoiding her. They did have means of keeping contact that did not require meeting face-to-face, but it would be utterly rude to randomly Gate her way inside his home-guild with no previous warning and he'd either ignored or dismissed her messages, as even that last trip to the crystals harvesting ground had been kept between just the redhead and Elaine instead of extended to him as she'd initially intended. There wasn't much blame to be assigned, though. Edelweiss did realize that, despite their friendship prior his newest venturing outside Lodan, neither of them had been in a good place mentally or emotionally to be truly healthy to each other back then. She needed time, and he needed space. Thankfully the world was kind enough to grant each their due.
"Sure--" Mid replying to Elaine's request of going to her office afterwards, her answer got cut by the sight of a certain pre-teen girl slowly sneaking her way down the hall behind Lasair, a small object in hands being raised towards his head from behind. ".....Amber, no." "Why?" "Just lower that shaker." "But he just left! Without saying anything! He deserves it." "Young lady. Do. Not. Sprinkle salt on Lasair." Edelweiss practically groaned as Amber turned to glance at Elaine with a 'back me up here!' look .

Lasair was left to quietly follow along after them—he didn't exactly remember how to navigate these halls and honestly wasn't sure if he ever had. Still, he was a bit surprised to find out that the person tailing him had an ulterior motive. He couldn't help but smile a bit at the exchange between Amber and Edelweiss, if nothing else smiling relieved the tension. "I did not leave on purpose. Had I know I was going to be whisked away, I certainly would have left a note to prevent this very circumstance from occurring!" And it was true; the first time he disappeared was not because he had planned or wanted to. The second time, well, he wasn't sure if anyone had really even known of his return before he took an intended leave.
He glanced at Elaine, hoping she might have something to say in his aid.

It seemed that Lasair and Edel would get along just fine regardless of the trials of time so the feline in their company felt relaxed and nonchalant in the midst of the reunion. Castiel sitting at her heels as he patiently waited for her approval to go roam the halls. His head tilting at the lurker that had been shadowing the trio through the building. Elaine felt a smirk pull at her lips as she watched Amber sneak closer and halt impatiently at Edelweiss's exasperated orders. She never should've never brought all the foundlings personalized salt shakers. There was so much sweeping that had to be done and the pranks were off the charts.
The brunette glanced between both redheads as the teen begged her for assistance via eye contact. Lasair even looked to be hoping for aid causing the young woman to bite back a snicker. He indeed had done nothing wrong really since he hadn't been at fault, he was honest. And Amber needed to get some saltiness out of her system one way or another...
"One should never be so eager with their salt privileges Amber, it is a precious resource. Lasair is right that is absence was unintentional so you should be a little easier on him..." She then raised her hand and pinched her fingers together as she winked at Amber. "So, just a little salt." Elaine gave an innocent shrug to both her companions and laughed merrily at the looks she got. All of it was in good humor for a little fun, she'd never let any harm come to Lasair and of course none of the kids would drive Edel crazy if she could help it. She'd sweetly dust Lasair off after the fact for retribution... she'd been looking for an excuse to mess with those red locks of his for ages. Besides, he'd have plenty of time to think of ways to get her back later. "I am a fair form of lawful chaos to those in my presence." She added to Edel with a coy little grin.

The redhead woman couldn't help but sigh, then chuckle awkwardly at how the scene developed. And even more so once more of the guild younglings spotted what Amber was doing and to whom, and progressively approached to join her. Apparently there's no way from stopping the kids from turning Lasair as salty as they're currently feeling. Well then...
"Alright... You can leave the bag there. Pearl, take it to the kitchens, please. And Ame can sort out this one." Edelweiss directed, first Elaine towards the coffee table where she could leave the edibles bag, then the children about where to take said bag (as well as the one herself had been holding) from there. "So, coffee and cupcakes? Or should I leave only Lasair to enjoy those while we go to the office?"

Lasair huffed but accepted his salty punishment. It wasn't the end of the world at least and he soon chuckled as the granules tickled his neck. Afterwards, he straightened out his jacket to try and shake some of the salt off, glancing at the kids as he did so. He remembered showing some of them how to refine their magic, and how to safely enhance their spells. They were always so excited when they figured out something new and those excited looks always made him look forward to the meetings. It was a shame that those had stopped. He looked at Edel when her questions came to his ears.
"I believe I'm coming with?" he said and looked to Elaine. She hadn't mentioned needing to talk to Edel alone first, but he didn't see it as being an impossible idea either. Edelweiss seemed to be as poised and collected as ever. She always was the picture of tranquility when she was in the eyes of others. He wondered briefly what she might be feeling underneath that mask; if she were feeling anything at all. He didn't want to assume that this meeting affected her, but also he wouldn't know if it had. That was the trouble with Edelweiss; she always knows how to hold herself and how to spin a situation in her favor. It was a skill that Lasair hoped to master some day.

Elaine steps closer to the coffee table to sit the bag down and smile warmly at Pearl when she took it away as per Edel's instructions. She liked all the kids of CAEsAL and was happy to see them running her dog around and giving him his much needed play time today. That freed up a good portion of her evening since Cas would nap it off and she could get to any business that came up after their discussion. As Edel offers coffee and cupcakes she gives a polite shake of her head, she didn't need caffeine and sugar on top of the modest nervousness she hid well. Glancing sideways at her salted friend with a thoughtful light in her eyes before she grins, "Let me talk to her for just a few minutes. We shouldn't be long and you can probably get back on Amber's good side between now and then. It'll take some work." So, as Edel leads the way and Elaine follows she finds herself a comfortable standing spot leaning on the nearest chair back so she can fold her arms over it once they are in the privacy of the office
Lasair had managed to coax her into joining MI (via promising the bookworm access to an amazing library and honestly who'd turn that down?) but Elaine was determined to ensure the safety of her current guild. She knew quite a bit that would be troublesome if it wound up common knowledge and she'd had planned for this. She knew it was an option to leave, if need be or if one wanted, and that there were stipulations to doing so that she wasn't exactly fully aware of. The only question now was where to even start? Elaine takes a breath and pushes off the back of the chair to walk around it and actually sit down in it. "I'm not going to beat around a bush since I've been debating this for a while." She starts as she tugs at the fingers of her gloves to pull them off. "I want to join MI and I know that there are a lot of issues that come up from that statement that need to be handled. My biggest concern is CAEsAL. Above all else, I know there are things that do not need to be getting out anywhere. Lasair tends to pry..." Elaine's told Edel about such an occasion before where Lassy had questioned about deeper CAEsAL workings and the potential involvement of the green eyed feline. Multiple occasions now and to be honest the woman wasn't looking to have any more. "There is also the fact that I have a lot of responsibility here."

Lasair watched them walk away, his eyes trailing after their feet until they turned a corner and disappeared from view. Which left him alone now with some younger folk. They still didn’t look to him fondly, but the sharpness to their glares had softened so there was some progress. He looked to Amber and offered her a smile. “Have you learned anything new with your magic since the last time we checked in?” he asked. Until the older people returned, he decided he would try to talk magic with the kids. Maybe he could demonstrate a small spell or two, or give them advice for hoe to refine their technique. Anything really, as long as it helped the time pass.
