Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
"...Well...this is a bit annoying...but I can make do," he muttered, opening up a portal and stepping into it.
"...You know, this is much better! Why didn't I think of this!"
At that moment, zombies in the theater district seemed to get just a tad weaker while zombies elsewhere seemed to get a tad stronger, equalizing across the city.

"This was not exactly my idea of a girl's night out, but so be it..." The redhead sighed. The rooftops granted them a rather narrow, irregular path to follow, but it was also higher ground and would keep them out of range for most of the undead - Winged ones and possible parkour users aside.
"It seems our culprit left the Theater District's premises. The zombies there turned weaker." She informed the rest of the group she was presently with. She might not be in the aforementioned district at the present moment, but her magic reflections were still, and it would be harder to not notice how they were suddenly able to shrink the raising dead hordes with almost double the speed they could a few minutes prior. "Any suggestions where to search first?"

Fawn kept close behind them as they jumped down, her wings giving a soft "sshhhh" sound as they brushed the grass when she landed. She looked off into the sky curiously. There definitely was winged undead flying around whom were a nuisance should you cross one but the rooftops seemed to be a good place to scout from. Her idea extended to the tiny brunette with the wild looking curls as she had just previously scrambled across the rooftops like a squirrel and back in no time. Lost in thought for the moment she blinked out of her haze as Edelweiss spoke. "Perhaps the docks? It seems to be a logical place to hide. But on our move, I can fly ahead and scout for the rising hordes while the young miss there crawls the rooftops above y'all?" She gestured faintly to Elaine.

"Guessing where a necromancer who brought back most of the entire city's dead folk is not really likely to get us where we need to go. However..." Elaine looked the woman over with calculating interest. "Since you already offered to fly as a scout you probably could go above and get a good look at the city to see where the hordes are rising and where they are most powerful. We know at least that they are stronger closer to the source, or that's the best ideology we have at the moment." The feline Ander turned to face the other side of the city and listen momentarily. "Those of us walking could start for the center of the city and make it easier to reach wherever we need to go from a central point. What do you think?" She wasn't directing the question at anyone in particular but just whoever wanted to answer or speak of a better plan. Her green eyes flickering at them as she glanced back to look at the crew of women.

Caitlin managed to catch both winged-ander's offers. "The dead are walking, I think for once, being seen flying over the Human kind is the least of their concerns right now. Would it be alright to ask you both to fly reconnoissance, but in different directions?" Cait pointed at Fawna, "You could try the docks, since it appears your instincts are pulling you there." To Elaine she pointed next, as she didn't remember names at the moment, or if she'd ever acquired them to begin with. "Could you try flying inland, perhaps toward the more rural areas, maybe they're coming from the pastures and the woodlands?" Perhaps, just perhaps, this had something to do with the fell Sveden soldiers that had laid siege to their city out on its borders.
"The rest of us, well... you're right, we'll just have to travel on foot, and hope to catch up with you or you could circle back when you have news." Cait looked to Edel to see if maybe she knew where they should go, given their pedestrian limitations.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. "You all have a point-- Uh, Cait, Elaine is a Feline. She can't fly." But flight ability would sure come to their advantage. And they needed more people so that splitting up wouldn't wear their own numbers too thin, as outnumbered as they already are.
"Let me fix this really quick." She snapped a finger and had another group of cryomancy/projection reflections appear, along a pair of pale dragonfly-esque wings sprouting on their backs as well as her own. And then turned to look at her Second-in-Command and Caitlin. "Do you want a pair (of wings) as well?"
However, currently they were out of the Theater District, so 'out of her domain' so to say, and the redhead didn't fancy having random people (be they alive or undead) see a lot of 'clones' of herself running around, just in case. So instead of all looking like Edelweiss, each of these reflections were shaped as different people. Mostly unknown faces to the others in the group, but Caitlin might be able to recognize two of them, from simpler times prior the Civil War: Freestyle and Clue. Not the real deal, of course; those were just magic vessels bearing resemblance to them and controled by Edelweiss. It was just easier for the redhead to control shapes she already had a solid idea on how to move best in.
She agreed on letting Fawna scout first anyway, since it would do no good for the whole group to head in a single direction and risk to later find out that's the wrong way and having to backtrack. And starting from the center and keeping it in mind to check the docks was as good a plan as any. "We should also check the clocktowers. If anything, they're the higher points of each district, so we'll have a decent view of things around without making effort to stay in the air, and we can regroup in them for a quick hidden shelter if we notice anything or things go south."

Wa-- Wings?! Edel could give her: Wings?! What clever use of magic was this, and where could she learn it to do it herself? "Yes!" Caitlin breathed out excitedly as her head bobbled up and down in a yes motion. Today, could be, the Best Day Ever! She thought, then remembered the zombies, and zombie mum and sobered her enthusiasm a little.
Just a little.

Fawn nodded along to the young brunette's ideas but gave her curious glance when Caitlin mention she fly as well. Was she a winged Ander? She didn't quite look like one, she was a wiry little thing. She shuffled her own wings upon her back and considered the young woman briefly until Edelweiss explained that she was not a Winged. She was a feline and that explained a lot about her at face value. Bending her wings upwards and out just a bit in preparation she spoke, "I'll cover as much ground in each district as I can and meet you all at the towers to report." Them all gaining the momentary ability to fly would save a lot of time, in the long run, she agreed silently.
Fawn waited for her answer and then backed up from them a bit to take off. Lifting herself into the air strongly and angling off for the docks to do a quick flyover. The city was a mess and she could see people running in the streets still as she flew a little higher to lessen the chance of her being picked out by unsavory people on the ground. This as going to be a long night...

Elaine? Fly? The Ander gave Caitlin a bit of a confused stare for a moment. She must've assumed Elaine as a winged Ander when she asked the green haired woman about scouting around. In all honesty, Elaine technically could fly, if she used a little magic to shapeshift into a bird that is. Naturally? No, no she could not. She smiled despite the situation and shrugged at Caitlin, "I certainly would if I could." Her attention drawn by Fawna as she gave them her statement. Elaine nodded in agreement before the woman took off, the wind from her exit whipping her curls back away from her face. It made her scrunch her nose up a bit.
However, when Edel conjured up more projections and wings Elaine's expression shifted to look a little miffed. She waved off the offer, "I'll handle my own flying." She'd rather run across the roofs really but that would slow her down. Elaine wasn't afraid of heights but she really wasn't all that fond of being in the air any higher than what she could run or climb on. She would wait on Edelweiss to lead the way for now, or Caitlin, whoever got to it first. They needed to find this necromancer and quickly before the total dead outnumbered the citizens entirely.

"Alright." She nodded to Fawna and sent a couple of the new cryo-projections in different directions from where the naturally-winged Winged girl headed towards. The wider the area they can cover quickly in this search, the better. Another nod was given to Elaine as well, if she prefers to tag along by running on the rooftops instead of in the air that was perfectly fine too in Edelweiss's point of view - if only a bit surprising due to how the brunette commented she'd 'handle her own flight' less than a minute prior. But it was probably just a matter of personal wording choices, so... So be it.
And then the redhead finally could address Caitlin's reply to her earlier offer, and admitedly she couldn't help but chuckle at it, despite the whole situation and their currently ongoing plans. That oh-so-excited expression on the Baroness, just like a little kid in a candyshop, was just so amusing right then. But alright, time to work: she placed a hand on Caitlin's back, palm open and aligned to her spine, and let the magic flow and seep into her friend's body, concentrating on the shoulderblades area. Sensation-wise there would be an odd shiver climbing the spine, followed by a cooling feeling like having menthol ointment applied on the skin. A pair of fairy-like wings soon sprouted from there, much similar to the redhead's own, but with a size and shape better adapted to the blonde's own constitution. "There you go. Sounds like a bad time for complex flight lessons though, so just... flap faster to go higher, slower to go down, and use your limbs as rudders to change direction. That's the basic gist." That being said, despite the apparent similarities, since the start Edelweiss has had no intention to make those as a projection. Her projections were by default linked to herself upon casting, and it sounded safer to give Cait wings that were not going to suddenly disappear mid-flight if something were to happen to the redhead. "Remind me to get rid of those again afterwards."
She'd also have had no issues telling what kind of magic it was and how she used it, but alas, she cannot read thoughts (not while not using Telepathy at least), so she isn't aware of the curious urge to learn the other woman is feeling. Explanations on it will have to wait until a question is asked aloud.

Amon never really liked crowds; they were either too noisy, too smelly, and upon occasion, too magical. It was a lesson that he had learned well, but recently ignored in favor of seeing his loved one having a good time.
At least, that was the plan, before he got too busy with a recent commission and lost complete track of time.
Also the zombies.
With the wide reaching message, he knew Edel was fine; she could easily take care of himself, leaving him more room to concentrate on survival. It was around this time that a careful observer would start seeing the his sanity begin to fray as his annoyance and frustration reach record highs. Needless to say, when you have access to quite the arsenal and a near endless stream of enemies, you'd take quite the power trip.
Unfortunately, at this point, a careful observer would be startled by the sound of a fairly loud explosion coming from around the storage area of the Merchant's District, followed by a string of swear words and a more fervent effort in attempting to exterminate the undead.
In other words, he'll be fine.

Wern had listened to Edelweiss’ words. Had listened and although crestfallen, he had agreed. He could have been some help, possibly, carrying extra weapons. But, the more likely scenario was that he was going to be a liability rather than a help. Fumbling with his hands, Wern had bowed his head. Taking a deep breath, he remembered, he had to have at least some dignity.
Looking up, Wern spoke, “I’ll just be a hindrance, s-so I’ll stay here. If anyone else comes by who looks like they can fight, I’ll, um, try to send them your way. But, please, be careful! I-I may not fully understand what is going on, but, please. Please come back,” Wern fumbled, unsure of what words he should say, what good wishes he should part with. There hadn’t been much time to ponder them, as shortly after the women left, leaving the house to its occupants and Wern. If anything, maybe he could help fortify the area. That was, if anything, something he knew how to do and was trained in.

Caitlin wasn't sure if she should be repulsed, or Kiss Ede for her absolute brilliance! "Necromancy!" She whispered excitedly, testing out the flap-flap of her borrowed wings, a bit worse for wear admittedly, but functional which was better than no wings at all. "I really should get back into studying this skill," she admitted out loud. She'd only ever begun the art because of Danny Ravensdale but who knew where that little survivor was these days.
Following the very abbreviated instructions, Cait did her best to follow the other airborne members of their little brigade. They had some hunting to do - a an unknown somebody out there to hold accountable.
Assuming they could find said person.
They had better get started on the searching

"Not only necromancy, but yes, it's included." Edelweiss chuckled.
The main component of the specific magic combo she used on Caitlin was shapeshifting afterall, to form the pair of wings in itself, followed by healing to avoid altering anything else in the baroness' physique or messing up her normal constitution. But necromancy was an useful add-on due to it's automatic regenerative feature, even if it gave the wings' overall appearence a bit of an eery look.
It was the same principle used in the making of the redhead'd own current wings, although in her case there was a mix of cryomancy and projection instead of healing - making those have an effect similar to controllable props that could be dismissed at will, rather than a true reestructuring of the body that would require a second spell cast to disappear.

Elaine watched the magic taking place with a look of slight awe and then maybe just a pinch of gross at the necromancy touch though it wasn't like she was perturbed by the works. Magic was magic and it was darn useful. She thought for a moment about what she should do to get around aside from running, which could end badly if anyone on the ground could climb as well as she could. Something that could fly for sure. Aha! Elaine went fairly quiet for a moment.
And then in her place was a barn owl that looked like a fairly toasted marshmallow. Owls were known for their almost silent flying, it may very well come in handy and the less noise anyone made the better. The bird turned her head around a bit and then shuffled itself to prepare for taking off. Pulling its wings up into a pre-flight and taking a few hoppy kind of steps towards Edel with a small hoot. She was ready to go with the red-heads word. Skills used: Shapeshifting II
