Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
New year in the Theater District was busy. Well, it was busy all year round, but during the winter holidays and end of year's passage that was even more so; Edelweiss was glad she managed to get a couple hours break to enjoy the sights around. The streets were cold, and a soft snowfall had started a short while ago - nothing that turned hard to walk nor that couldn't be warmed but by a good winter coat and scarf, and people walked around happily doing their own thing.
Musicians played around the typical holiday songs, and plenty of street sellers gathered little crowds as they readied fried foods, cottoncandy, popcorn and warm beverages. Overall it was being a rather normal, yet good evening.

With his jacket buttoned, and his hat brim lowered to fend of the crisp wind, and wandering eyes alike, the man trudges through the market place, squeezing past those at shops and food carts, touching only those who looked good enough to be touched....and the food, can't forget to nab a snack! Eventually, he finds himself a decently clean bench as if a couple we're just watching the night on it, and takes a seat. He brings the baked good to his mouth and takes a bite out of it, holding with his fingers on the brim, and the back of his hand laying against his knee as he chews, his free hand dipping into his pocket to pull out a pocket watch. He releases the cover with its built in contraption, and looks at the face of the clock, frozen, from only about twenty minutes ago.

Frolicking down the street's all good, and Edelweiss might get back to that in a bit, but admitedly just walking nonstop tired her legs after a while. There seemed to be a bench with a vacant spot up ahead, so after getting a large cup of hot cocoa from one of the vendors she headed straight up there and sat down, next to a man looking the time in a pocketwatch. A very still pocketwatch, as if frozen in time. Either the owner was an ander pretending to be human, or the little clockwork contraption was in dire need to being winded. Maybe both; who was her to judge anyway.
"Good evening (and holidays)." She greeted, then took a sip of the hot chocolate.

"Herrph." Levi mumbles with a mouth full of delicious bakery treats. He clicks the watch closed and puts it back in his pocket, the gold trim glinting in light of the night. He looks over at her with his blue eyes, gently shimmering in the dark. "That looks good.." He says, pointing to the cup of cocoa, and then dropping his hand palm up in a flourish of fingers. "Ya' look good too." He says, the metal studs in his face contorting, allowing his lips to slither into a smile. "Jus' out'n 'bout?"

Alright, glowy eyes, so this guy was ander (and Feline). Edelweiss just stashed the information in the back of her mind as the reason for the frozen watch, along any other silent musings, while sipping her warm drink.
"It is---" She started replying to his comment about the beverage with a nod, that then became a half-contained snort as he switched the cumpliment to her. Flirt detected, but this one had been at least amusing/creative so it didn't really set her on edge. "Thank you(?)"
"And I suppose so. Just looking around and enjoying the sights." She shrugged and took another sip. "What about you?"

With a soft, one shouldered shrug he responds. "Work. Which, in case ya wan' know, is trippin' kids, eatin' sweets, and enjoying a sugar baked good." He looks to her with a flat smile on his face before leaning back onto the bench. He places his elbows on the top of the bench and lets his hands hang down. "What'cha name, girly?" he asks as he watches a mother and child walk by, taking in there movements within the crowd.

"Sounds like a holiday - though I do realise it is one today, so it fits." She responded with a half-smile, turning for a couple seconds to watch the duo of mother and child passing by as her current bench companion did the same. "But I digress. Enjoyable work is work nonetheless, so, good for you." Be it babysitting or sugar-tasting.
"I'm Edelweiss." She reached out a hand for a handshake, if he feels like taking it. "And yours?"

Levi pauses for a second, "Edelweiss? I know that name from somewhere.." He smiles and takes her hand, offering a quick jaunt of a shake. "Levi." He states, reaching into his jacket pocket with free again hand to pull out tooth pick, picking the sugary remains between his teeth. "Ya'know, normally, I'd tell a girl like'ya to take a ride." He says, muffled from holding the tooth pick in his lips. He turns himself to her with a quick scoot, picking his right leg up to rest his ankle on his left knee, which he stacks his free hand on. He pulls the stick from his mouth, and licks his canines with his tongue. "But, summin' say's na'ta." He grins and rolls his eyes with a soft chuckle.

She raised an eye brow, amusedly, both at the given name and the man's following comments. For the briefest of moments the redhead wondered if she should turn her head to let him have some sort of privacy while taking care of his bucal hygiene, but he didn't seem to mind people watching and she figured if he did mind it he'd not be toothpicking at his teeth in a public space.
"That seems to be a sober choice." That half-smile was still glued to her lips, partially due to this little thought that sprouted in the back of her mind and part due to Levi's relaxed antics and chuckle being contagious to a fault. "Do you by chance know someone with the name 'Caitlin'?" Since this Levi did indeed match the descriptions she had like a tailored glove, that didn't seem too far of a stretch to ask. If this wasn't the right person, then just a quick 'you reminded me of someone else' statement should avoid further awkwardness. If this is 'The Levi', though... part of Edelweiss felt amused at the chance meeting, while another part was bewildered they had taken this long to meet in the first place. Lodan sure was a strange city anyways.
Spikes of terror and realization climb his spine, like a frost climbing a flag pole in the winter, ever nerve along his spine firing with fear, hair standing up on the back of his neck, all emotion being shown on his face with a blank stare for a moment, and a paused animation. He blinks and looks at the red head, he rests his arm out-stretched along the back of the bench. "Maybe." He simply says, with images of his brilliantly beautiful, blue-eye'd queen dancing in the back of head. "Woman full of fire, an'a hand to back'it?" He flicks the tooth pick over the bench, "I know'er very well."

Ooooh yes, this man knew Caitlin. She could have known it right then, even without a verbal comfirmation from his part, just with how he instantly tensed up and froze, for a moment as rigid as a clockwork doll who had been bearhugged by an ander. In theory, this wasn't funny; and once again she was torn as half of her did feel bad for having made him uncomfortable with her presence (or just the question) - but the other half of her felt helplessly amused by it, and she couldn't stop the smile in her lips from turning into a full grin.
At least she managed to not laugh. That was something, right?
"Relax, I mean no harm. Cait and I are old friends," She waved a hand in what she hoped was a comforting gesture. "and occasional sparring partners, I guess you could say too. She's talked of you before, though I'm surprised we never bumped into each other prior today. Were you out at sea or something?"

He raises the digits on the idle hand, laying on his ankle. "Nah, ain' afraid of the harm you could bring. You're.." He gestures with his hand, held flat to the side of him, indicating she's short, and not scary. "Cait an' I are sparring partners too, all the time." He smiles, looking off to the side and mumbling something under his breath for returning to face Edel face on. "I go' stuck ou'side durin' the war, got back n'to long ago." He looks Edel up and down again, taking in the more subtle features of the woman. "I'un think she's ever mentioned'ya though.." He places his thumb on the side of his chin, rubbing the flip side with his index finger in thought.

And that comment (or the unspoken part of it) warranted two raised eyebrows. While standing up Levi would be barely two inches taller than her - and with them both sitting down the difference was almost null. Caitlin herself was two inches shorter than Edelweiss - and if the redhead was sure of anything it was that thinking the pirate queen was 'innofensive' because of her height and slim frame would have been a dire mistake. What to make of an assassin queen, then? Not that Levi would know that detail, since (as far as Edelweiss is aware of) Caitlin also didn't know her as any more than the entertainers' leader. But even so...
"I'd have thought your time with Cait would have taught to not judge a book by its cover, no?" Though she couldn't really discern what words he mumbled to himself. "Well, then..."
At the comment that he'd never heard of her, the redhead made a fancy flourish and tip of head in 'royalty just entered the room' style (which was admitedly odd considering she was gesturing at herself and didn't bother to stand up from the bench) and, after making sure there was nobody around that shouldn't hear it added: "Tell the Queen of Rogues the Red Queen sends her regards." A sentence said said with a very straight-laced expression - that then imediately dissolved into a long snicker as soon as it fully left her mouth. "She usually calls me 'Edel' instead, so there's that. Though I'd not be surprised if she really didn't talk of me. I doubt my occupation would be interesting to chat about."

He smiles, and shrugs "Sure, Love, what'eva ya' call yaself. N' don't take it personal, I judge everybody." He gestures with an open palm towards the crowds of people around him. "Jus' look at'em, ain' even know what's goin on. Jus' cattle to the authority." He looks back at the red head with a raised eyebrow. "So what do'ya do then?"

She just looked back at Levi with the blankest expression she could possibly muster. "I am the authority." Though she surely didn't see the people around as just cattle. "CAEsAL guild leader."
As for judging everyone... she could only hope that Levi wouldn't do that to the district's bouncers or some of the other personel who were more prone to try and 'prove themselves'. That might end up ugly if he does.
