Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Sadly, that didn't really help much. How much a person believed their dead would suffer or not in the afterlife was in large part based on how fierce one is in the religious beliefs they have coupled with what are those beliefs - and in Edelweiss case the conviction was almost none if any. "I guess... It doesn't help me much, unfortunately. Since I'm alive." No, she agreed with the brunette woman. Litting candles for the dead is fruitless when it ks the living who need light. But she herself was alive too still, and as such mourning the absence of those who are gone felt unavoidable.
As the waitress returned bringing their order, a bit of an indefinite smile grew on the redhead's lips and she picked her doughnut to nibble on. No use in dwelling in empty feelings when they should be busy filling their stomachs. "It's been a long while I'd even heard of you... Were you out of the city, or just too busy at EIRAL?"

The cadet checked her tea pot, noting that it hadn't been brewed for very long and making a rough calculation on when she could pour. Didn't want to over steep it after all. Pulling her plate closer to her, Vieka picked up the fork before eyeing the red head for a moment, noting her own slow eating. It was a strange sight to her. She was used to see Edelweiss swallow sugar like she was swallowing, not picking at it as if she were uninterested in the sugary treat.
"I left the city soon after Castamere." She stated simply before taking a bite of her cake, pondering it thoughtfully before swallowing and continuing. "I did not return for some time after that. When i did however, i then joined EIRaL and have been doing work there. I suppose I've been in the city for a few months now, but i certainly have not rushed to make my presence known."
Letting the information sink in, Vie took a moment to have another bite of her cake, still deciding on if it was any good or not. It tasted alright but it was a little dry for her standards. Still, it was ten times better than anything she would get in the barracks so she supposed she really shouldn't complain.

"I see, it's been quite a while then." A few months... Had the brunette really been stuck solely at the barracks for that long? Then again, things were odd lately, and even if that's the case she'd not be the first person Edelweiss heard of that seeked isolation for months on end.
"May I ask why or how you got into EIRAL, or is that too personal?" As far as she knew of EIRAL wasn't supposed to allow anders enlisted in its ranks - that they'd freely admit, at least - so the position the woman in front of her seemed to be in was intriguing enough to warrant the question. But as with most things the redhead asked out of pure curiosity, she wouldn't press for answers if it really proves to be personal.
"My guild has been surviving better than myself, admitedly. There are losses and inconveniences, there always are, but it's not the first war we faced and we're versatile enough that adapting isn't too hard. The issue is dealing with those losses while still having a heart - certain things hit up close and personal. Sometimes I wish I was a robot... my life would be much more simple then." But then again, it was debateable how 'alive' a robot can be considered.

Of cause, the brunette had not solely been on the barracks. She had been doing other things, but she really wasn’t kidding when she said she hadn’t been in a rush to make her presence known. It wasn’t quite to the degree of wearing a shady hood and skulking about in the shadows like some strange black market dealer, but it probably wasn’t too far off. Vieka shook off the childish urge to ask Edelweiss if she would like to buy a watch. The woman would have no idea what she was going on about anyway.
Shaking her head, Vieka took another small bite of cake. “Not too personal per say. More…” She scrunched her nose up, looking mildly annoyed by the term. “Classified.” She drawled, scoffing. Eugh, it sounded tacky and cliche even to her own ears. The brunette decided the cake was definitely too dry, and finally poured her tea, hoping to quench the dryness on her tongue.
Lifting her tea cup to take a sip, Vieka paused, raising a brow to the redhead. “We don’t know good without the bad, we can only hope that when we reach the end of our days, said good outweighed said bad. Besides, i personally think being a robot would make for a rather dull life.” She snorted quietly before taking a sip. It scolded her tongue, and she promptly put the cup back down again. Oh well, she won't be able to taste the cake at all now.

"I don't see any bad in a dull life either, but oh well..." The redhead shrugged, figuring that was just a matter of diverging personal preferences. While it was true she usually took any adventures as they came, that was often so only because something demanded her to. Some strange force from above or something. But in all honesty, a quiet life where not much is happening was something she found herself dreaming about once in a while. It sure would get rid of the "everyone is dying, everywhere everyone keeps dying all the time" issue her current state of living was permeated by, and along it be rid of 70% of all her stress by the source at once.

Vieka didn’t have much to say to that. A dull life, she supposed she could sort of see the appeal of it but… well, it would just be so boring. As much as the woman loved her naps, she was a busy body at heart and restless at mind. If she wasn’t do something she got twitchy, and if she wasn’t constantly learning or testing herself, she got bored. A dull life to her would be her definition of a nightmare… well, that and anything to do with kids. Dull life + kids, the devil literally torturing her kids. She would make a terrible housewife mother.
“A little. Trying to drink too soon is a habit i never fixed it seems.” She stated airily, glancing down to the woman’s barely eaten donut. After that, the conversation seemed to wither and die, awkwardly training off as Vieka forced herself to take another burning sip.
“So… how’s Amon?” She asked, biting down a wince. Queens she sucked at small talk.

"That you'd have to ask him. I'm not sure what's going on in his head nowadays." She found herself staring rather intently at the hole in the doughnut on her plate, as if somehow all the answers in the universe were hidden in that absent dough space, then sighed. It'd have been nice if they were there, but oh well. At least it still tasted nice.
The waitress passing by and asking if they wanted refills for their drinks was what pulled the redhead back from the weird daydream valley. "No more tea for me, but I'd like an extra-creamy frappuccino, thank you." Then focused her attention back on Vieka. "That's quite a neat design you have on your face. Are those tattoos or removable paint?" Hopefully the flowy patterns of the other woman's forehead and cheeks wouldn't be too 'classified' to chat about.
“Trouble in paradise?” She rose a brow, interest caught, at least for a moment. Those two were usually glued at the hip, or at least they had been rather grossly gooey over each other the last time she saw them. The pair reminded her of a happy puppy and an owner that liked to spoil said puppy silly, although thinking back on it, Vieka had never been personally close to either one of them. She knew Amon to a small degree better, but she wouldn’t call him a friend. Her father was closer to him, the two chattering about mechanic-y things that she would never understand, and holding some strange mechanic only mutual respect for each other like some kind of exclusive club. As for Edelweiss, Vieka’s knowledge on the woman was limited to basically what Stephen told her and what she had managed to figure out. Not an awful lot, all things considered.
Waiting for the waitress to leave again, the brunette turned her attention back to the red head. “It’s henna, a type of non permanent dye used for staining skin.” She explained idly. “A few different cultures use it for various reasons. Personally, i use it because my mother and brother used it.” Might as well throw a bit of context in there. Most people didn’t paint on their faces after all.

"Pardon?" Vieka would have company in the raised eyebrow corner, as the redhead's face was practically a mirror of the brunette's once she heard that first question. Lodan had never been a paradise, and it made no sense to call it such; but Edelweiss had the feeling that's not what the other woman had meant. Which led to her wondering what she had meant in the first place.
But it seemed like their conversation had definitely - if only temporarily - been switched to discuss henna though, so Edelweiss didn't bother to vocalize her confusion for the moment. "That's interesting. I never heard of it before." Non-permanent skin dye, huh... Depending on how it worked, she supposed it might be useful in some areas of entertainer work. "Do you know what it's made of? ...Or better asking first, how do you acquire it?"
