Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"I know you two knew each other beforehand, but thought it was about time you met oficially." Edelweiss added, shifting her weight to lean her back against a tree on the edge of the clearing, gloved hands still resting at her own back after a quick wave to Lasair as she took notice of him looking for her. There was a calm, slightly amused sort of half-smile on her face.

He straightened up as Elaine began speaking, the serious tone infecting Lasair as he put on a more serious face, posture growing to reflect as much. The kids stepped back a bit, understanding that they shouldn’t bother two adults having an adult conversation, even if both adults could play like kids at times.
As Elaine announced her title, Lasair lifted his brows in surprise. So, 2IC huh? He wouldn’t have expected it of the young girl, but it was impressive on its own. She was young, but surely she must be responsible to hold the job. It reminded Lasair of when he had first discovered his place in the guild; surely she had at least some instruction, unlike him. Glancing upwards, he nodded to Edelweiss, ignoring the comment about how he had asked about CAEsAL. It shouldn’t be a secret that he was curious of the guild, especially when…
“Lasair Landevier Lupen, guild leader of the infamous (and secretive) Magicae Incolentium, otherwise known as the guild for Anders, the guild of mages, the masked witches, or simply MI for short.” Taking a short bow, he continued. “It’s a pleasure to meet both the faces of CAEsAL for once, although I’m afraid I’m the only member of my guild that you will formally meet. Unless one of the trainees here decide to move over.” As if on cue the kids started complaining about wanting lessons to start. Lasair lifted a hand to quell them, the conversation with the leaders not quite finished yet. “Practice what you learned last week,” he called to them.
“Anyway,” he continued, realizing he was hogging the conversation a bit. “I don’t know if Edelweiss has told you this already, but if so I’ll reiterate it. MI is a highly secretive guild. Most do not know it even exists, let alone the name or the people in it. So please, only talk of it in rumors and do not associate my name with it. Very few people know of my involvement and I’d like to keep it that way.” For now at least. “We're already wanted by EIRAL based on the limited information they do have, so stressing this secrecy is needed. Thankfully the war with Sveden has been taking up most of their attention lately.”

Elaine scanned his features as she revealed her position. At the time she was growing less worried about what he was thinking. She was more concerned with his eyebrows, hoping they weren't in danger of liftoff from the man's face... But as he began speaking she refocused her attentions. As Lasair told her his place she would have done a double-take had it not been for all the practice she'd had to be more concealed with her expressions. MI certainly did exist, and this gentleman was the leader of it. So, there was so much more to him then she first assumed. She would have to look into that.
As he carried on with more information about MI, more like its rules, he could see her green eyes narrow a bit. She was taking the information he was giving and ripping it apart like a hungry wild animal. Lining up new questions after she linked relative thoughts. At the part about ERIAL Elaine smiled, chuckling softly. "Everyone is wanted by ERIAL for some reason or another. Remember who you are speaking with Lasair!" She teased him, the children looking up at the tone. This was noted and Elaine shifted a bit uncomfortably. Her smile dropping. "We are both secret guilds." Her curls bounced a bit as she nodded to him. "Don't worry though, I have no reason to tell anyone. Your secrets are safe with me." Elaine figured that was all she was going to need to say. Her actions and personality dulling down again. She hadn't meant to sound so open, especially after that.
It shouldn't hurt anything, but regardless. Professionalism eh? Elaine turned on her heel and was walking back towards Edelweiss before she had a chance to say or do anything else. Once she was nearer to the redhead she leaned up against a tree, mimicking the leader's posture with a bit less rigidity. Her shoulders slouching a bit as she crossed her feet and leaned back to watch. A soft huff escaping her lungs.

“We are both secret guilds”
That line made Lasair pause. He was going to counter that EIRAL actually knew of his masked group, had seen them, and thus were after them while on the other hand, the assassins were just whips of rumors on the wind. A different sort of risk, but so be it. Yet before he could say as much, the other phrase hit him. The corner of his mouth twitched upwards in a sly grin; it seemed that he had gotten an answer he wanted after all; namely that Elaine was an assassin. What else would put her a secret guild when CAEsAL was public knowledge, not to mention so well loved?
He kept quiet however and merely wore his smug grin for the moment before turning back to the kids. With a rather cheery tone he called them together and began the demonstration. “Today’s lesson is about Cryomacy, which yes I know we covered that before, but this time we’ll be looking at the water half of it.” From there he went on with the explanation, glancing back at the pair of leaders from time to time. When the kids were ready to move on to practicing on their own, he went back to join them. He tipped his head in greeting, the smug grin gone for a more relaxed one instead. Teaching the kids always put him in a better mood.

"Everyone is wanted by ERIAL for some reason or another. Remember who---"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaAAaaaaAAaaaaaaaAAAAAAaaaaaaHH!" Extreely loud high pitched screech here. and then a little throat-cleaning cough. How did a child manage to be that noisy, only heavens knew. Pearl was seemingly learning some very interesting little skills with Polinya. "---Ahem. Sorry, I thought I saw a bee."
"Don't worry though, I have no reason to tell anyone. Your secrets are safe with me."
It took an immense amount of will power from Edelweiss to not facepalm right then. Elaine, no. Lasair can't remember who he's talking to, exactly because CAEsAL also has a hidden side. 'Professionalism eh' indeed. Should she remember her of what was mentioned right the day prior about MI not having a lot of info on CAEsAL. After Lasair is no longer into view. And Pearl could eat the rest of that doughnut box, she deserved it.

Elaine was standing by her tree biting down hard on her tongue as she reprimanded herself. She knew that grin of Lasairs face. And at the moment she loathed it. He'd gotten something, and judging by Pearl's sudden hellish screech and Edels disapproval, it wasn't good.
She'd been too comfortable, too open. Her friendship with him couldn't get in the way of her duty to her guild. In fact....it wouldn't.
She sighed, if he was looking for assassins, he'd get trouble. Elaine knew that for a fact. She glanced out to him with the kids. If he caught her gaze he'd see deep green eyes that didn't have their usual warm glow. They had a look of dissatisfaction. But at least now....he wasn't the only one with useful information. The feline curled her claws to her palms, one hand resting under her chin as she thought.

That just made it the second time it happened. At least in neither of times it was to a level than endangered CAEsAL as a whole, but Elaine outing herself was no longer unheard of. And twice worse at every turn. Edelweiss wondered what should be done about it, because something should - rules are rules, and those shouldn't become lax while on a leadership role. If anything, the ones sitting higher should set the example for everyone else. Maybe she had been too lenient with Elaine the last time. Once they're back to the guild, it'd be time for a new talk... And maybe calling Stephen again...
Meanwhile that, Lasair's little devilish grin had gotten the attention of some of the kids around as well. Though what each of them interpreted it as varied, and Amber was currently staring at the ginger man with slightly squinty suspicious eyes and lips plucked forward in a duck pout. "...Lassy are you crushing on Elaine? >3>"

As Amber’s question reached him, Lasair couldn’t help but let out a laugh, amused by the girl’s interpretation of the events. “What? Me? Nahhhh,” he said to her in a teasing way, smiling as more kids joined her in watching him with suspicious eyes. “Why are you asking, Amber? Are you jealous that I’m talking to a girl that’s not you? I’m sorry; let’s work on your magic then. See if you can give me a cold. I dare you.” His playful grin was directed at her now and at this moment, he was thankful that this was a spell he knew how to handle at the very least.
For the time being, Elaine and Edelweiss were left to their own devices. But Lasair would always welcome them practicing their magic here. Edelweiss had a few times in the past, when she wasn’t demonstrating for the kids at least. But if the girls were content to stand under that tree, analyzing his every detail while he played worked with the kids, so be it.

Elaine felt a chill creeping up her back. She bit her knuckle as she thought, glancing up and around the crew. Not that amused with Amber's question. Pushing off the tree she headed over to Edelweiss, holding her head up regardless of how she felt like crawling into a hole and probably not coming back out. Maybe there was a shadow beastie she could move in with. She paused standing next to her guild leader, feeling like a complete idiot. She quietly spoke, "....any idea what my punishment for that utterly stupendous statement is going to be yet? Or am I going to be waiting a bit longer?" She asked lightly, keeping her tone even. Sadly enough, she knew that look on Edel's face. The same one from the first time. Elaine figure why not face the bull and grab it by the horns for once. Maybe she wouldn't get to badly impaled?

"We'll need to have a talk once we're back. Again." The redhead woman responded simply, her tone reflecting a calmness thaat was more calculated than one might first guess. "And the one training you thereafter will be Stephen. In any manner he deems fit." Since apparently her own guidance had been too lax on Elaine, perhaps it'd be good to let her taste some intensive spartan training with a touch of medieval schooling lessons from a teacher who'd feel no need to be gentle about it.
"Nah. You're big. There's enough Lassy for all lassies here." Amber dismissed Lasair's jealousy claims with a hand on her waist and the other hand waving in the air in a pretty autentic diva pose, before her little face darkened some. "But if you make Edel jealous we'll have to hold you responsible. "
Then again, how could she even give him a cold? Toxins of that tier took a couple days to take effect without an Augment (which she didn't have), so he'd have plenty of time to heal himself before they even find out if it worked or not. It wasn't even fair. But then again... maybe a different kind of cold would do. With a rather devilish innocent-looking smile on her face, Amber laced her hands with Cryomancy and clasped her palms against the ginger man's mouth. Totally planning to freeze his saliva and glue his tongue wherever it was in his mouth so he'd babble like a baby when speaking.

Luckily for Lasair, his tongue was resting at the bottom of his mouth when the cold feeling worked its way inside, locking it into place. Surprised coated his face as he pulled away, lifting a hand to touch his face and make sure the sudden cold wasn’t going to damage anything. With that confirmed, he chuckled as best as his throat could mange and shook his head at Amber, already wiggling his tongue out of place as it began to thaw. He wouldn’t try speaking, no, but his facial expression did express his annoyance, with a hint of being impressed at her creativity.
In the mean time, as he struggled to get his tongue back, Lasair whipped up a cast of Aeromancy and blew it towards the girl, probably causing her to fall over between her small size and the addition of wings there to catch more of the gust. He smirked as the cast left his finger tips.

Elaine didn't say anything, Stephen as a mentor? There could possibly be worse things, but Elaine wasn't coming up with any just yet. Overall the girl felt a little relieved it wasn't anything that involved being tailed around like a lost puppy. She'd just have to learn, and if it was the hard way she chose so be it. But she didn't need to do it this often. The feline smirked though as she caught a glimpse of Lasair's speechlessness. Caused by a charm she assumed. Watching as he fired back with a light wind. It gave her a bit of satisfaction to see this, but it also helped ease her. People getting along, whether mentor and student, friend and friend, or husband and wife was always going to be a welcome sight.

Amber was just there, not-so-innocently chuckling at Lasair's antics as the inside of his mouth froze, until a sudden gust of wind made her flop down on her back. Oof. She sat back up and stared back at his smirking face, suspiciousness coating her squinting eyes before it all dissolved into light childishness and showed him her (own and non-frozen) tongue. "You meanie!"
Edelweiss took the following moments to just observe the children and Elaine. Yes, they'd need to have a talk. Mainly about not letting unwanted info slip out while chatting to others, and then afterwards about why the guild's first rule existed - and when or not the younger girl could choose to make exceptions to. There were cases where those could apply indeed... but accidental slipping was still dangerous. To a level is was better not left ignored.

As the velvet man regained his tongue, he went about actually starting the lesson now and instructed the students in their magical arts, taking time to stop and show everyone any examples they needed. At some point, when there was a lull in the teaching, he walked back over to the leading ladies and spoke up to them, “Enjoying the weather?” a light smile was on his lips, lingering from the joy he gained from teaching the young ones. It was took bad that they didn’t decide to join in. Much too bad.
