Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"The city is broken indeed. But broken things can be fixed." She pondered when he turned to look at her. "It won't fix itself, of course. We're the ones who have to work on it - us all, from both races. It'll take time, and be hard, probably painful as well. And we might lose important things on the way, like you already did. But if you look at it with enough attention, there were things that were gained as well. Everyone here has seams and scars, physical or metaphorical, but those also made us stronger... and if I dare say, a little wiser too."
"Lodan is a strange, depressing, cruel place in this matter. Even so, it still has beautiful things, like those children. And it's people like those children who give birth to people like me." Human or Ander? If it matters any, then she'd have no shame on saying 'both', even though her magical inheritage was much stronger than the human side. Being a half-breed did have plenty of harsh, painful moments for her, but it also helped her have a broader view of things in how they worked for both sides. It was a narrow line to walk over, but she wouldn't have it any other way.
So she was a half-breed. There was a time when something like that would have mattered. When he would have gone out of his way to expose her and have the council arrest her control. No Ander should be able to amass such control, or so the thinking went. Apparently no human should be able to amass such control either, in the case of Alistair. He needed to find a way to hurt the man, and soon. First, he needed to get his strength back, and to learn how to fight again. Nothing like a loss of depth perception to screw up one's sword work.
"So where do the rest of the guilds fit into this? What are they planning?" he would have rather gotten this from Caitlin than from someone he'd just met, but at least Edel was someone who'd risked her life to save his. They could have all been killed in that explosion, and then where would they all be. "Most importantly, what's left for me to do? Obviously my goals were true, but my methods ended with a prison cell." He wondered if that was a question he should be asking either. She ran a group of entertainers and artisans. What truth could she reveal?

Edelweiss glanced around. No one there other than the two of them, the children playing and a couple of her own informants - Almandine watching from the third floor's veranda, Jasper leaning his back on the fence across from them partially hidden by the natural shade. Alright then, she could talk relatively openly. "As I mentioned before, we're all stockpilling workers and supplies. But on a more specific level our tasks vary slightly. BoR is currently responsible for gathering said supplies, and are our intel by the sky and sea ports regarding any that happens and what's contained in those areas. MI is in charge of transport and storage. My guild is in charge of guaranteeing transport routes, safeguarding the operations and offering intel of the streets. MM is currently being our eyes inside EIRAL so that we can know their movements to a degree." She listed. "Sorry, I can't tell you more than that, at least not before Cait does since you're not my worker. Each guild has their own details they do not share. So if you want to know more you should talk to them directly; Cait you already know, and I'm sure you know Amon as well. And MI's leader can be a bit of a hothead but the second in command is quite friendly and pleasant, so there's that."
She took a deep breath. "As for what you can do, there's plenty. Think less of 'what's left' and more of 'where do I restart'. For now, focus on healing and strenghtening yourself - you'll get assigned a task to do soon or later, I'm sure."
"All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - John Dalberg-Acton
He didn't like that MI was involved but he kept that to himself. That group was the polar opposite of the EIRAL. They couldn't be in this without some motive or plan to help put Anders above humans. At least that's what he had always been told. As he was finding out, however, much of what he'd been taught was not actually the case. So much fighting had happened over the years, and so much bloodshed. The EIRAL should have long ago been turned towards fighting enemies outside of Lodan instead of constantly looking to police those who did not need policing. Human's could be just as dangerous and just as devious. Sveden would show everyone that once they arrived.
"I have a feeling there's more going on than just stockpiling supplies. There always is, but I suppose that's for another day. I should get back, though I fear my head is no clear than it was when I left. I do thank you for the doughnuts. It was a very eye opening experience." He smiled again, something that had been foreign to him in the past, but it was getting easier. Even in his current state, there was a weight that he no longer felt on his shoulders; a sense of freedom.

There was more, indeed. A war was coming afterall, and all of them needed to strenghten their own fronts - and as CAEsAL's main front were those who sneaked in the shadows, they were supposed to be away from the public eye. Edelweiss was sure there were similar things, although styled differently, going on in each of the guilds. As Skye finished speaking, she just nodded in agreement. "Feel free to return at another time if you feel like doing that."

Skye nodded and turned to leave. He was a rouge now, in more ways than one. It was time to accept that. "Just be careful, Alistair won't stop until he's turned every district upside down with his searches. Be ready when he comes knocking on your door." He said over his shoulder before merging himself back into the crowds.
