Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
She rose a brow from beneath her mask, the briefest pause in her step before she continued on as if nothing had happened. Personally, there was nothing that interesting about her name as far as she was concerned, but the comment wasn't done in poor taste as far she could tell so she let it slide. "hm... sure..." was the best reply she could up with, unsure if she should say thank you or return the gesture. She decided against it, since both wouldn't be exactly honest.
Still, the poor fellow was trying, so the least she could do was try and ease up on him a little. Clearing her throat slightly, Vieka opened her mouth to try and say something.... but fell horribly short. What's a typical thing to talk about? "Uh... you... said you were new the city?" eh, good enough. at least she tried.

Hm, maybe she wasn't as upset or brash as he initially thought. With her question, he looked to her with a small smile before looking forward once more. "Aye," came his confirmation. "From the countryside town of Bimbury to be most exact. Are you from this city, Vieka?" Her name still felt foreign on his tongue but it wasn't too odd, either, just different. The man peered about their surroundings to check and see how close they were to the merchant's district. He hadn't forgotten his reason for going there yet.
The half breed shook her head, making the avian on her should squawk as she threw him slightly off balance. As a result, his claws dug in more and made her cringe, but she tried to ignore it in favour of replying to her current company. "Not born and bred here no. I'm originally from another country just over seas, but i moved here with my father a year or two ago."
She filled in, giving enough details so it was a decent story but being vague enough that it didn't give too many details. Lifting her hand, she gestured to the area around them by circling her finger in the air. "Welcome to the merchants district. You'll find whatever mechanical mastery you need here."

He listened along to her explanation with a nod of his head here and there or a smile thrown her way but did not comment. When they reached the merchant's district, he had to pause just to stare in awe. This was nothing like the woodsy landscape of his hometown. Everything was vibrant in color comparatively as everything back in Bimbury had been neutrals and earth tones.
"I must admit, I do not know a thing about technology or how it words," he replied quietly while continuing to drink in the sights but then tore his gaze away from the buildings to look down at his guide. "Do you know which of these stores might be one that sells parts and tools by chance? I am truly sorry to pester you further, miss Vieka."
"Just Vieka." The woman muttered, the crinkle of her nose unseen behind her mask. "I highly doubt you're much younger then i am. As for where, i can't say i'm all that much of an expert myself. You could try scrap alley, a collection of junk shops that sell spare parts and other such things, you might be able to find some tools there too. If you want high quality tools though your best bet would be the main street." She listed off idly, frowning as she tried to think through the shops. Typically, Vieka didn't really roam the merchants district much outside some of the flower and gardening shops or the basic supply shops. While mechanics were a large thing in the city of gears, they were not her forte for obvious reasons.

"Junk alley?" What a name for a street that housed the same sort of shops. How convenient though that a road would have a collection of them--that certainly would make it easier, but then she mentioned main street. Looking up and down the streets he was relieved to see that the streets were at least marked on the corners to signify which was which but he still turned to Vieka and asked, "where might I find Junk alley and main street?"
The half breed paused, about to turn off into a back way alley that led to her little corner out of the way before sighing, and contemplating her options. she could just leave him to get on with it, but the merchants district wasn't exactly a small place and getting lost wasn't difficult. But it's not like it's her problem if he got lost right? yeah, but so far he had been rather pleasant. But still.
"ughhh." The woman groaned, hoisting up the large bird up on her arm before hoisting him into the air. "Sanctuary." she ordered, watching the avian squawk in agitation as he was thrown up into the air before he spread his impressive wingspan and made off over the buildings back to her clinic. With the weight now gone, Vieka gave her shoulder a firm rub down and tried to ease out the feeling of raptor claws from her flesh while she rotated the injured limb.
"Alright; i'll show you once and once only, so take notes country boy." She sighed, changing her direction towards main street instead of home where she originally planned. Call it her good deed for the day.

Kalum could feel that he was now trying her patience and for that he felt mildly guilty. At her nickname, he perked his brow but made no comment and followed along. "Thank you," he stated and did the task of putting everything to memory. "I promise I will not pester you after this."
It didn't take long to get to main street, and it was obvious when you hit it thanks to the mass amounts of meandering people and every shop from state of the art motors to small time cafe's lined the way. Every six or so shops on each side were divided by alley ways, and each alley way led to more shops, smaller streets and eventually to the storage units and facilities more out towards the dock side of Lodan. Towards one end of main street, Vieka paused, nodding her head in the direction on the smaller street they were standing in front of.
"Scrap alley, named more so for it's cluster of shops. I think the streets actually called di-gon-something or other street..." the woman muttered, vaguely looking around for the street sign that listed the actual name of the street, but it seemed to have long since been torn down. "There's a pretty decent café down there too i heard, has all the strange ornaments made from bits of machinery on show or some kind of presentation." She shrugged. "Can't say i've ever been there though. I just heard it's good if you like that sort of thing."

A familiar screech brought Kalum's gaze to the sky and he saw Caracalla circling about just as they had entered the second street. At her words, he looked to the masked ander and smiled then peered down the road to try and figure what shop might have been the cafe. "That sounds something more of my sister's interests, really. I am not very technologically savvy. Uh, miss Vieka. Allow me to repay you sometime for your kindness. A coffee at that cafe or something else. I insist."
"Vieka." She stated dryly as the male called her miss again. honestly. "And tech isn't particularly my thing either, I prefer old fashioned methods." Waving her hand in an idle manner, the winged half breed turned around, intent on finally going home. "If you're so adamant about it though, maybe some other time." The woman usually wouldn't be one to turn down free anything, especially if food or caffeine was involved, but she probably wouldn't see the male again and Lurch would start getting crabby if he was left outside for too much longer; God forbid the avian comes back and starts another punch up just because she took too long.
"See ya around country boy." The brunette drawls as she begins walking off, no intention of seeing him again. After all, Lodan is a big city. What are the chances of running into a person at random again?
