Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Humming, Vieka spread her 5 cards along the table with them pointed to the others, her fingers holding onto the last card and flipping it so all the cards revealed themselves with a domino like effect. "Flush." She stated, feeling pretty confident but not 100%. Lady luck could certainly be cruel sometimes, and it would surprise the young doc if she'd turned her nose up at her after some of that cheating.

Edelweiss placed her cards on the table with face up as well. All four 9s and an ace. "Four of a kind." Seemed like her win, but the redhead hoped Vieka didn't feel upset by that: it was a good hand, it just so happened to not be the luckiest.
And then... "Royal flush." The guy next to Vieka lowered his cards. Ace, king, queen, jack and ten of clubs.

As proper etiquette of a dealer, Addison had to remain as stoic as possible which meant the same smile he wore out of politeness remained plastered on his face despite the want to grin broadly by the royal flush revealed. Of course that lad would turn up such a hand and as such, it did not surprise the dealer though the entertainer couldn't help but pass his eyes over Vieka then Edel to see their reactions. "Our winner for this round, ladies and gents," he spoke softly with a slight bow of his head before pushing the pile of chips toward the man with glasses. After the chips were delivered, Addison swept his hand across the table to gather all of the the cards before adding them to the dump pile. Taking up both piles, unused and used, he quickly shuffled the cards and nodded to those gathered. "Place your entree fee in front of you for this round." Entree fees were usually small. At this table the first person was to place ten, then the next twenty until it reached the first person again who would place another ten to make the twenty.
When each had placed their chips, Addison would collect them to his side in the middle then deal cards one at a time to each person with himself last until each had five. "Check or call," he looked to Edel with raised brows.

"Is it just impression or you seem to turn luckier when I'm closeby, J?" Edelweiss gave a wry grin as she looked at the lad, who was busy stuffing the chips he won into a bag. "That's because people stop cheating." He replied flatly, and got ready to leave. "Not going to stay another round?" "No way, I took a while to win and you ladies would probably drain me dry the next one."
The redhead just snickered, watching him walk away before turning back to Addison and placing the entry fee along the new round's bet. "Call." She wasn't so poor that couldn't stay another round with Vieka and whoever else joins.
To her credit, she didn't flinch at the mention of cheating no matter how much she had wanted to, although that didn't stop the displeased dip of her brow and downward curl of her lips. She had been sure she was careful, only have swapped a total of 4 cards during her 5 rounds of games so far, deliberately folding now and then, never making too high a hand. Still, she couldn't help but feel on edge, especially since peaches looked like she knew the one that had just left.
"Call." She stated easily, throwing in a few more chips as she looked over her cards. She wasn't going to risk cheating anymore if it'd already been brought up, that would be asking for trouble.

The brunette dealer nodded to Vieka and Edel then looked to the man beside Vieka who called the bet as well. With the three answered for, Addison lifted his cards by the corner and peered at the numbers. His expression went from pleasant to professional as he eyed them for a good long moment then lifted his gaze to the three. "The house raises by ten." It was a simple number and quite low given the large pool to draw from at this given table. In truth, he had nothing of dire interest. He'd wait to see who called the raise and who would not before offering up the chance to exchange cards now that the first round of betting was through.

Jasper had likely been referring to people in general (or at least the ones who weren't stupid) stopping cheating while the place's boss is also playing with them, rather than having picked out Vieka's subtle cheating. Either way it was true, since he didn't like to cheat himself, that he got plenty of better card results when the redhead was at the table - but that one Royal Flush had probably already spent all his lucky streak of the day and he just played when he was low on cash (to get some extra), so wasn't going to risk losing everything now. A 'better quit while you're winning' thing.
Edelweiss didn't mind calling the raise since it was so small, and the people she was playing with were quite interesting. The redhead eyed Addison amusedly for an extra seccond as he seemed the perfect rolemodel of a cards dealer, then turned to look at the masked woman with a friendly smile. "So, Ms. Vieka, are you having fun so far?"

Clicking her tongue, the brunette threw in the necessary chips, adding a few more with a soft "Raise another 100." before directing her attention to the red head, an unseen look of irritation now starting to hedge her expression. "Y'know..." She drawled slowly while leaning back, idly fingering through her cards and rearranging them so suit what she wanted to keep and what she wanted to throw. "If you try selling your product too hard, it'll only turn people away from it. Try not making it quite so obvious you at least work here."
Her tone may have been casual, but there was something a little sharp about it, a light hint saying she really didn't care for the chatter or peaches antics, whatever they were.

Addison payed no mind to the two as they conversed but rather chose to observe the man left with them. The poor bloke, he was already so nervous with the raise Vieka had given. In quiet amusement, the dealer waited for him to make his choice before lifting the corners of his cards to peek at his cards once more. "The house will call your raise, madame." He then directed his gaze to Edelweiss. Whether she called or not, after she was through, the chips would be gathered and moved into the middle where a generous pile was already beginning to form. He then turned to Vieka who was next in roll. "How many cards do you wish to exchange?" And then he would trade out any cards she wished to change or not, doing the same with the man beside her and Edel before doing himself lastly as was most polite of the house to allow the others first chance. However, as cards were Addison's expertise, he didn't fail to take the opportunity in subtly swapping his cards for predetermined ones, nothing exaggerated. A simple straight that began with six and ended with ten all various suits though he'd already had four of the five in his hand to start.

"Technically I don't really work here. Just passing by for an inspection, and playing some on my break." Edelweiss replied with a shrug, the smile still on her lips although it got a bit smaller. Vieka wasn't much of a chatting type now, was she... or maybe she was upset about the past round, having a Royal Flush tossed in could do that.
Another raise of 100, and Addison started doing his own little deal for the sake of his work. Edelweiss folded for the round, though didn't leave the table and waited for the next one. She wasn't about to simply toss her chips away.

"People don't tend to bring up their work during their breaks." she murmured distractedly. Humming idly, Vie counted out her cards, deciding on her next move. Yes she raised but so far she didn't have jack in her in hand at the moment. So, time to play smart. Throwing away too many cards would show she hadn't got much but not throwing away any wouldn't be smart either, since she didn't have squat at the moment. Well, a good poker face was just as good as any decent hand in her experience, so she decided to throw in two cards and get two back in return. Ah, one pair. Well, better then the dung she had before but still not great. ah well. She'd play it until the bets got too high then call it in, See how good her game face was tonight.

Ah, how disappointed he was when Edel had folded though reasonable. After all, with so much time under her employ it was no surprise that she would learn his tricks. Rather than making any bets, Addison would fall into the typical check or call. The man beside Vieka raised a simple seventy five to which Addison called before passing the turn to Vieka to see whether she would call or fold.

"Sorry. It's force of habit I guess, I'm a bit of a workaholic." The redhead shrugged while stating that, in response to Vieka's comment that people usually didn't talk about their work while taking a break from work; and it was pretty true - what both of them said.

"Too much work and no play isn't any fun. You'll end up on your death bed with the knowledge that your life was unfulfilling." Vieka drawled before upping the bet by another 125 without hesitation. She had a lot of money to waste at the moment, some stupid noble insisted on paying a small fortune for helping her get rid of her minor headache. besides, the larger she upped the bet, the more it would look like she had confidence in her hand, or at least that was the plan.

The turn was passed to the man who seemed to struggle with what to do. He had called the initial bet and so felt obligated to call as he was fairly confident in his hand but all of the previous rounds he had played where Vieka made such bets she scarcely lost. Mildly angry, the large man threw down the cards near Addison and picked up his remaining chips before leaving the table. My, now only the three of them remained. Addison swept up the cards and set them in the dump pile before removing his own chips to call Vieka's raise. "I believe it is time to reveal our hands," he stated as he turned the cards over to reveal his straight where it began at six and ended at ten.
