Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

He blinked as Zona marched off, and then blinked again as Elaine marched after her. Two youngs girls, going after two big thugs? There was clearly something wrong with that.
No, Lasair would not wait there. He would follow after Elaine, a few steps behind so she wouldn’t notice him right away, and then see just what they were up to in that ally. Perhaps he should reiterate his earlier guess of them being in a guild after all.

Zona made it to the alley in no time as she stopped just before the entrance and just as she heard a two familiar voices. Once belonged to Elaine's father the other... she couldn't but her finger on it quite yet. "What was his name..." Zona thought as she listened in some. It was a bit to late to just go storming in but be that as it may she still readied her bow, besides this was a dead end alleyway, unless they were going to climb the walls this was the only way in and out. The name that belong to the voice hit her just as he actually said it, "Gray..." Zona said under her breath as she tensed up against the wall some. Well at least her suspensions and thought on who was really behind this were true, and now they had solid evidence to go off of rather hand what her mother was just worried about. Zona listened carefully, she needed to hear all she could before something were to happen, especially before Elaine got here. She would just want to charge in when in reality if they waited until the very last seconded they could get all the info they needed.

Charles stood pinned against the wall fighting back panic and letting anger and loathing choke it down. This was the guy who had gotten the better of his daughter. Not that he knew much about Elaine's other skills save for the small bit of self defense he had taught her when she was younger. He had no idea how much she had grown since then. These men obviously meant harm if he didn't comply but he would rather that happen then any of Rowans' idiots getting hold of Victoria. Terrance regarded him like he was an annoying child not willing to give up his favorite toy. "There isn't much choice for you Charles. Why must you be so hard to get along with. I know your upset about that girl and all..." "Elaine." Charles spat. "You shot her when she was defenseless. And you did it after running away coward." Terrance grinded his teeth together feeling his own anger rise. His guilt had no place here. He flicked his hand and Eli released of the man.
Charles stood there glaring at the Everest boy for only a moment as Eli curled his hand into fist and hit the older man. Charles fell back against the wall hard and quickly put a hand up to his face. His nose was bleeding, having taken the blunt of the hit. But it wasn't broken, not yet. Eli delivered another punch to his gut forcing him to double over as the wind was knocked from him. A few more ruthless blows Charles had dropped to his hands and knees coughing and was still trying to right himself. He had managed to block and reduce the force behind some of the hits but not enough. Eli's strength wore down his defense quickly. Terrance signaled for Eli to withdrawn and the large man did so barely restraining himself. "Now that you've had a small taste," He grit thought his teeth, "Of what is in store I highly suggest you hand her over!" He was red now, biting back his guilt and smothering it. But Charles shook his head almost desperately. "There's no way I'm letting you anywhere near my family." He wheezed. Terrance made an noise of extreme agitation. "Why should I?" Charles asked looking up slightly with the beginning of a bruise on his cheek. The noble stopped to stare at him. "You'll just kill me anyways." Terrance didn't respond as the two stared each other down. "No, I won't. But he will."
Eli picked up Charles by the back of his shirt and held him up so that Terrance could step forward and get right in his face. "It's your fault Victoria doesn't have what she needs, what she's entitled to. Her birthright. That fire wasn't an accident you thick skulled ape." The boy had spoken too much but it was this man's fault his mother wasn't loved. It was his fault Terrance didn't have a father who wanted him. He was merely a side effect of a plan born from necessity and deemed a failure. Drat this insufferable excuse of a creature. Terrance finally backed away to pace behind Butch, who stepped forwards to stand on the other side of the man and put a hand on his other shoulder. Terrance kicked at the ground with a small yell.
Elaine finally caught up with Zona who was standing tense. She figured she was taking in the situation. But as Elaine overheard voices she strained her ears to hear more. One voice was her father's, the other was a voice who's every word made her tremble with rage. "Is that...!" She stood behind Zona still as she could be listening in disbelief. She caught the last bit of lies about her mothers birthright. That bastard was going after her family! The girl suddenly stilled and lifted her head. Her eyes filled with a look of deadly fury. Without a word she ripped her gloves off and threw them on the ground. She didn't even give Zona a warning as she stepped around her and started her walk towards Gray. She had already figured before that there were two thugs accompanying Gray but that wouldn't stop her. Her steps were swift and her gait had a fearful determination to it. Her eyes were locked on the boy.
Terrance looked up as someone entered the alley, her hair nd those eyes making him freeze. All the color drained from his face. "I.....I killed....you..." He stammered horrified. She couldn't be alive, there was no way! He saw her fall, she was dead. He did nothing as she got closer, eyes wide in shock.
Elaine marched right up to him ignoring his pathetic rambling and balled up a fist before punching him in the face. Hard. Everyone heard the impact. The boy staggered back from the blow putting his hands up to his face and gasping in shock. Eli and Butch looked up surprised and Charles just looked on with his mouth open. Silence filled the alley.

Lasair continued on behind Elaine, and then past her as he slipped into the crowd and walked to the other side of the ally, glancing in as he did so. The two thugs were beating on someone who looked familiar, but it was hard to tell despite squinting his eyes while a fourth person stood nearby, watching.
When Elaine marched in to punch one of the guys, he knew he needed to get involved, just from a distance. Don’t let them know he’s there, and don’t let the other two girl’s know he’s helping. That kind of involvement.
Creeping up to the edge of the wall, he peered inside the alley, ever so slightly so that only one eye was seen, and then he mouthed the words “Your face is broken. You can’t see,” without actually speaking, targeting the man Elaine had punched. It was his new favorite way to cast deceit magic and it was perfect for being stealthy. If Zona saw him, she wouldn’t have a clue what he was doing other than watching, and that’s how he meant it to be. Deceit I used once. 4 Rank I casts remaining.

"Wow that man is stubborn..." Zona thought as she heard footsteps behind her. Elaine must have just gotten there, "Well I guess that all I get to hear." Zona thought as she looked over her shoulder to the girl, just in time to see Elaine walk around her and into the alleyway, "Elaine wait!" Zona said, being sure to use a quieter voice. She supposed it was a bit to late for that now. Stepping in with her bow drawn and an arrow pulled back she set her eyes on the two men standing next to the girls father, "Anyone move and I shot." Zona said with narrow eyes and a stern voice that showed she meant business. Looking around the alley some she noticed the girl went after Gray immediately, of course she would why wouldn't she... Turning back to the other two men she didn't even notice Lasair standing in the back of the alley thought she did get the feeling someone else was watching them.

Elaine stared down at Terrance angrily still clenching her fists by her side. She would gladly punch him again. While she stood there Eli and Butch dropped Charles and almost stepped forwards to help the noble but froze as Zona aimed her bow at them. They were trying to judge whether or not she was serious. Deciding not to test her just yet they halted.
Terrance stood for a moment regaining his bearings before a confusing feeling washed over him. It quickly turned to panic. He couldn't see, and his face felt deformed under his fingers. "What did you do!" He cried shaking his head and hunching over. Elaine paused and looked down at her hand. 'Maybe I hit him harder than I thought...' She wondered before her thoughts were interrupted as the blind boy lunged at where hr thought she was. Which he was off to her left. Elaine easily dodged him and stuck her foot out sending him face planting into the dirt. Turning back to the thugs she pointed at Charles. "Hand him over. Now." The men looked at each other before reluctantly moving to let Charles go. But his freedom was merely a sweet second as Terrance recovered from the spell.
The noble felt the panic rise from him and realized he'd been fooled. The girl had used magic on him! For no one really saw the red headed man weaving his little attacks into the picture. Terrance slowly looked up and over his shoulder at the girl thinking about the gall she had using magic on him. Then without warning he swung a leg out and kicked hers out from under the feline. Elaine yelped as she fell and quickly tried to flip over to push herself up but Terrance had gotten up faster. As she managed to get to all fours he kicked her again sending her back to the ground. He wasn't terribly worried about the woman but realized she was probably aiming at him now. With that he reached down and dragged the girl to her feet using her as a shield and sticking a pocketknife to her back. It wasn't what he wanted but he'd lost his other knife in the struggle. It was laying close by. "Don't lose Anncroft!" He ordered glaring at Zona, the one who had shot a hole through his hand. Elaine watched as the large men grabbed her almost free father, who was all but kicking and screaming, to hold him back again. The knife poking in her spine gave her a dangerous warning. "Drat you!" She hissed, but all that got her was a hard jab with the knife. "What do you want!" She snapped.
"I want you mother so that I can be done with this mess that you've got me in!" Terrance growled back. He heard her snort indignantly and cross her arms. He stuck the knife up against her wondering if she was planning something. She wouldn't now would she? He had her father and she would do anything to keep him safe. "Now, when I go get your mother you two will be long gone tossing in your graves!" He said in her ear glaring at everyone else.

Lasair cringed slightly as he watched Elaine get beaten on before being used as a human shield. Pressing his lips together, he debated his options and did so quickly. Should he give Elaine’s dad (who was finally recognizable at this short distance) a boost in moral? No, even if he thinks he can get away, he might not. And the kid holding Elaine would be expecting it now, and thus more resistive. That left the thugs. He grinned slightly as the idea came to mind. “Elaine is holding a knife to his back, not the other way around.” It used two more of his limited casts, but hopefully it would be worth it. And hopefully Zona wouldn’t shoot one of the thugs before the spell did its thing. The pain might break them out of the trance. Deceit I used twice. Two rank I casts remaining

Zona watched as everything seemed to happen, "drat it Elaine, why couldn't you have just come back over here..." Zona thought as her eyes narrowed. At least someone listened to what she said since the two thugs seemed be be staying where they were, at least for the moment, but as soon as they would move it would all be over... Zona watched as her friend went from a fighter to a human shield in seconds, "drat it..." Zona said under her breath as she stared the man down. From this distance she knew she could hit the man no problem she just hoped Elaine wouldn't move, "Let them go now and you can all walk away." Zona said trying to barter with the man even though she had no intention off letting this Gray guy walk way.
Looking over she noticed the two thugs had once again grabbed the girls father, she would deal with them in a moment. Looking back over to Gray and Elaine she noticed something that worked entirely in her favor. The boys foot was sticking out far enough for her to hit it and not have to worry about hitting Elaine even if the girl did move. Pulling back she released an arrow that went flying straight into the boys foot, dead center, exactly where she aimed it (Bow II used). Quickly she drew two arrows, stringing one and holding the other between her pinky and ring finger and aimed them at the two thugs. Staring the two thugs down she aimed her arrow at the man on the left, still keeping a close eye on Gray and Elaine, all she could do was hope the girl would come over here and get behind her. "Now." Zona said as she looked over to the thugs, "Send the man over here and you both can walk away from this." She said with a slight smirk as she put extra emphasis on the word walk.

The two thugs eyes bugged out of their heads as somehow the girl switched places with Everest before their very eyes. Was this Ander magic?! How did that happen? They stuttered and gaped like fish, mouths opening and closing. Charles quit struggling as he gave both of them a look. "Terrance!" One of them almost shouted, a very, very late warning in their confusion.
Elaine listened as Zona started to reason, or attempted more like, because Gray wasn't about to let her go. But as one of the men called out a name she realized it was his real one. "Terrance?!" She said surprised, she stashed it away in her memory quickly before something struck near her feet. She shifted the opposite way slightly trying to figure out what it was. The tip of some feathers notified her that it was an arrow.
Terrance's face went pale as one of the idiots shouted his name. He turned to them, "Shut up you~ gah!" Something sharp went through his foot. Not in it, through it and into the ground. He looked down mouth open at the shaft of an arrow. He couldn't make a sound. Another bloody arrow! Elaine at this point, realizing he was distracted, pulled her arm up and slammed her elbow into his face. Terrance let go stunned again but lashed out with his knife. The girl dodged it barely and finally got ahold of her own daggers. She stood far enough away from him so that he couldn't hit her but close enough to be torture. The boy glared at her with a look of utter loathing. "Stay." The girl said pointing her dagger at him then to the spot where he was stuck. Then she turned to the flabbergasted men who had finally come to terms with reality again. Elaine had no idea who was casting the Deceit spells but she was extremely grateful. As far as she knew her father didn't have Deceit or Zona but honestly she had no idea. The dark haired girl turned to the men, "You'd do best to listen to her."
Eli glared at Elaine as they let him go. Charles unsteadily made his way in her direction passing her to go to Zona, for his daughter was still keeping Terrance in check. The boy was shooting evil looks at him as he passed but it was also glazed with pain. Little did he know that would soon be his condition because as he passed her a shot rang out. Charles stumbled and fell leaving Elaine staring at him to comprehend what just happened.
Butch, the quiet man who had done nothing to aggravate or add to the situation, stood holding a smoking pistol. He was still expressionless and unfeeling. Eli stared out at the scene speechless. Elaine numbingly realized what had happened and ran to her father dropping to her knees by his side. The heap on the ground having been a calm, patient man earlier. Charles laid there trying to keep from moving too much, he'd been hit in the chest, blood soaking into his shirt. He was too focused on keeping himself alive to worry about anything else happening around him. Although his daughter was on the verge of a mental breakdown. Elaine immediately dropped her daggers and applied pressure forcing herself to think through the frantic waves of panic clouding her mind. He needed help, she had to get him somewhere! The girl looked up at Zona almost helplessly tears beginning to burn in her eyes.

“The pain isn’t that bad so you need to stay awake.”
Another spell, this trick he picked up from Edelweiss. It was sent to the man who had just been shot. Hopefully the mental will would help him stay awake long enough. Ignoring the other people present, Lasair ran towards Charles and picked him up, knowing very well the man couldn’t move on his own. Hefting the man over his shoulder, he didn’t bother to look at the other girls. He had all the information he needed; it was time to leave.
“Come with me or take care of them. Either way don’t let them follow us.” He said in a rush before running off. The man needed a doctor, but where was the nearest doctor? Was Elaine’s father ander? Where was the nearest ander-friendly doctor then? He needed to get away from the thugs first, else they’d come and finish the job.Deceit I used once. One rank I cast remaining

Zona kept her eyes on the two thugs as Elaine made her escape from Gray or 'Terrance' as the one thug called him. Noticing the men were acting strangely Zona kept her eyes on the girls father as he walked over to them, everything was seeming to be going ok. Gray was stuck and the two men were off in a daze. Just as Zona turned her attention back to the men a gun was up and it had already fired. "dung, drat it, drat it, drat IT!!!" Zona thought as her arm tightened and another arrow went flying. This time instead of hitting a foot it hit the man directly in the throat, causing him to keel over and fall to the ground (Bows II used). Zona knew something was going on behind her but right now she didn't have time she needed to deal with the other two. But from what Zona could hear was that Elaine's father was the one hit, Elaine was trying to help, Lasair came, took the man and ran off, Zona thought Elaine was still there with her but had a feeling the girl would want to stay here with these guys. Turning her head some but keeping her eyes on the two she began to talk to Elaine, "Elaine, go with them. Your father needs you." Zona said as she turned her head back around, "Besides..." She began as she narrowed her eyes and pulled back another arrow, "I can handle these guys."
(Hope that guy was disposable, if not let me know.)

Faffing around her shop, Vie had decided to keep her doors open later then usual today due to having extra work she needed to take care of. She was currently sitting at the only desk in the 3 roomed house and clinic, surrounded by a rather scary amount of paperwork as she thumbed through the documents in her usual garb, her plague mask firmly attached to her face as she worked, not expecting any patients but not taking the risk all the same.

Elaine put most of her weight on her hands determinedly. He was not going to die in the street. Charles seemed to clam down suddenly looking rather taken aback. Lasair had appeared out of nowhere, hadn't she told him to stay back at Archie's? He picked up her father and took off with a few words of either instruction or suggestion she couldn't tell. Picking up her daggers Elaine turned around just in time to see the man who had shot him fall with an arrow in his neck. Zona wouldn't let anyone get by with gunning down an innocent man. As she told her to leave the feline felt indecision pull her two ways. She wanted to stay and have it out with Terrance for obvious reasons but the last time she didn't listen to Zona it had gotten her friend hurt. Biting back any argument she could have had Elaine took a few steps back before turning to follow after Lasair.
Terrance gave a evil stare at the girls back as she began to leave. She was getting away again. Being very slow he reached in coat pocket for his stars. Eli was an idiot and would surely get himself killed so that brought him some time. As a fact, tried and true, Eli drew his gun but wouldn't fire, he didn't have but three rounds. He stared wide eyed at the blue haired Ander waiting for some hint that she was going to shoot. Terrance snapped the arrow at his foot as quietly as possible and agonizingly pulled his foot off the ground. He'd have a limp for awhile. He tested his weight on it carefully as Eli stared down the woman. Good thing he had brought his gun, or so he thought. Finally free Terrance shuffled forwards as quickly as he could after Elaine before the archer noticed and threw a star at her before accidentally tripping and falling.
Elaine heard an odd shuffle/stumble and turned around to raise and flick her dagger causing the star to reroute itself and lodge in the ground. The boy fell at her feet in his haste. With a almost annoyed expression the girl flipped her blades to press against her forearms and reached down to haul him to his feet. Her hands twisted his collar as he got his balance and brought him to her eye level. "It is one thing to mess with me. But entirely another to go after anyone in my family, the blue haired one counts too. I swear if you even try to lay a hand on my mother so help me I'll have you strung up in Central Square wearing the filthiest clothes anyone ever found to match your personality. And the only accessory you'll have to your name is a slit throat." She hissed menacingly. Terrance's eyes grew wide in fear, but not at her threats, at the glare in her eye that he had never seen before and the dark promising tone in her voice. "Go tell Rowan that if I ever see him I will not hesitate to kill him on the very stone where he stands. Get lost." With that Elaine shoved the boy out into the street he tumbled out and quickly shuffled to get away. He could feel her gaze as he left bloody footprints following him. Elaine turned looking up the other side of the street giving an inaudible sigh. She wouldn't fight him when he couldn't stand. Zona might yell at her for it later but she wasn't going to be in a one sided fight. Plus he was working for somebody, and he just took it to a whole new level.
Without another word she sheathed her daggers and took off to find Lasair and her father.

Looking up and down the street, Lasair did a quick mental check of the area and swore under his breath. The nearest doctor was the one that didn’t like him. The one he promised himself not to bother so much, especially given her pet.
But Charles needed help. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he did a quick glance over his shoulder, seeing Elaine shove the one guy aside, and then continued running. Good, no one was going to follow. He ran swiftly over to Vieka’s shop and kicked the door open (as gently as he could manage) and placed Charles over by the couch. “Sorry for barging in but he’s been shot and you were the closest doctor.” He paused to take a breath. “I dulled the pain a little but I don’t think that’ll last much longer.” After that he stepped back, doing his best to be out of her way.

"Good..." Zona thought as Elaine began to leave, she needed to be with he father right now. Turning for but a moment to see if the girl had left yet both the man and 'Gray' began to make their moves. The one had a gun out when she turned back around and the other was on his way after Elaine, "drat it." Zona said under her breath as she stared the man with a gun down, slowly backing up in the process. Zona knew the girl could handle and she did so beautifully, shoving the man down and back towards the alley, right at Zona's feet. As Elaine spoke to the boy before she threw him Zona couldn't help but let a small smile out, what she had just said... It truly meant a lot to the blue haired ander. Taking a step back a large smirk came over Zona's face, "Well, ya tryin' to leave so soon?" Zona said with a somewhat twisted smile, as she aimed her bow down at the boys face. Looking up for just a moment she lost her smile and spoke directly to the other man, "Move and you'll end up like yer friend there." She said with a nod towards the dead one. Turing back to the boy she took another step back and knelt down slightly, "And you." Her smile returned, "I've got some questions."
