Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
A bunk style sounded interesting. But then again, all beds were interesting when you were away from them for long enough.
“No, I can manage.” Max was accustomed to not receiving help, even less familiar with asking for it. She knew better than to say no when it was handed to her, however. Now that was just plain rude.

"Alright then." If Max figured she could still walk till the dorms, Edelweiss wouldn't insist on carrying her. It was something for cases of strict need afterall.
Give it time enough and they'd reach the main dorms of the District, that the redhead already knew so well. The fenced gates with a sign of "EDEN BRIDGE" in large fancied up letters, a small yard, and then the multiple-floored wide building ahead, showing its many green-curtained windows. Usually workers following the entertainment career would be walking around filling the place, but at that hour they were either still working or already sleeping (no in-betweens), which gave the place a tranquil, peaceful atmosphere.
Their first stop should be the reception room, to register Max properly in there and see what rooms were available.

Max ambled along, getting used to the numb feeling. Maybe it was even wearing off, but she wasn’t sure. When they came to the gates, she looked up, trying to read it, but not having enough time to. It began with an E. She could remember that much; E for Edelweiss Epikuro.
The lack of activity was a bit unsettling for the young rogue, but she proceeded forward and into the building. Buy this point she was very tired and hoped registering would be quick. A yawn escaped her mouth to emphasize this.

The reception lady was a chubby old woman wearing glasses and hair tied up in a bun, like the perfect stereotype of 'gentle granny'. Her personality also seemed to suit her looks as she greeted then by rushing out of her little chair behind the counter and squeezing Edelweiss in a bearhug before spotting Max and mushing her cheeks as if the blond girl was 12.
"Edel deeeaar my little pumpkin tart, how have you been--- And what a cute newbie, what's your name? Oh my, but you're both so slim! Have you been eating just air and flour for days? Nonono, that's really bad, do you want a cookie?" "Good evening, Ms. Hallows... This is Max, she needs a room to stay so we came to register her." "Oh. Sure sure," Ms. Hallows walke back to the counter and pulled out a really thick book and a pen. "You can write your name here."

Despite being tired, Max wasn’t off guard. She took a quick step back as the lady reached out to touch her, no longer trusting the stranger.
Before she could say no to the question about the cookie, Edel continued talking and then a big book was pulled out and she was addressed to write in it.
The blonde just sort of looked at the stack of paper for a moment, unsure of what she should do. Stall, that’s what she should do. “Where do I need to write?” she asked, taking only a half step back towards the counter. Her fidgeting came back; she had been trying to cut the habit in order to perform, but it was back now and she couldn’t help it.

"Right here, little honeycake. " The chubby and overly-chipper granny reached out to bring Max closer to the counter and pointed at the first blank line under the list of handwritten names, and as she did so Edelweiss had to sigh and mention "Max had a really full day today and her foot is not very well right now, please don't squish her too much, Ms. Hallows. I'll need a list of the vacant rooms too to see where she can fit well.", so at least the freckled girl was granted a chair to sit on besides the pen to write.

She stumbled a little as the large woman pulled her closer, pointing to a blank spot to write her name. Then she found herself in a chair with the book in front of her and a pen in her hand. A lump formed in her throat, which she swallowed away. Reading she was slow with, however she managed. But writing? A whole other challenge.
Putting the little experience she had to use, she put the pen to the paper and tried to write. It took her a solid minute to finish her name, but there it was “M-A-X” All in caps, with a bit too much space between the letters. But it was her name and she had wrote it.

"....No surname, honeycake?" "..." Edel peeked away from the list of rooms to see how Max was doing, and the sight of 'MAX' written all in uppercase letters made her smile a bit. But she wasn't about to let the chubby recepcionist delay them for too much longer as it was getting pretty late, so as Max set the pen aside the redhead took it and scribbed a 'DAGGER' right after the blond girl's first name, still all letters uppercased - not a perfect copy but in the same style so someone wouldn't be able to complain of the signature. Of course that wasn't her real last name, just the codename she had been given, but would work for now. "Ok, done, so... uh... Max, do you mind having a roommate?" She asked while going back to look at the rooms list and squinting at it a bit.

Before she could ask what a surname was, Edel came to her rescue and scribbled something down. She was a savior, that leader. After this night, Max would regard her with an even greater amount of respect.
“I don’t mind.” More than likely, the roommate would end up having a problem with her, however.

The redhead smiled at that reply and let Ms. Hallows fuss around behind the counter for the key to that specific room, then reached out the small metal object for Max to take. "Good, I guess you can stay with J, then." Because no one else had accepted to share a room with the kid, but Edelweiss had an odd feeling that he and Max might get along. Or at least not bother or hate each other. They both were always emanating those 'loner but not gonna refuse the bed' vibes. "Room 33."

Max nodded, standing up from the chair. She took the little key and examined it in her hands immediately. It was tempting to ask who J was, but that would probably be answered when they got to the room.
“Where’s 33 at?” she asked when no one made any indication about where to go. She hoped it wasn’t upstairs. She couldn’t do stairs with a messed up foot like this.

"It's by the end of the corridor." Not upstairs, thankfully. Reaching the numbered room and looking inside they'd not see anything overly fancy, but it was a decent place. A pair of windows that offered a view to outside were fully hidden behind the curtains. There was a single desk with drawers and space to fit two chairs, a small book shelf right above it (that had this awkwardly sewn fat tiger plush toy along the books) and a single wardrobe. A bunk bed was settled against the wall opposite to the windows, and one could spot a dark-skinned teenager lying on the top bed's mattress.

A bed; that’s where Max’s eyes when and that’s where her body followed. Forget whatever else was in the room. An empty bed was the only thing she cared about. Forgetting her manners, she didn’t say goodbye or goodnight to either of the adults who had helped her this far. The bed was the only thing she thought about.
With the key tucked into one of the many pockets in her cloak, she climbed onto the mattress and fell asleep. Not a deep sleep; no on who lived on the streets could sleep deeply, but sleep nonetheless. Everything about this guild just seemed to be getting better and better.
