OPEN TO CAESAL
The evening advances slowly outside, cloudy and cold. There is no play scheduled at the Main Theater at that hour, all spectacles having ended by susset that day and the front doors being closed. A series of figures shaded by hoods or berets occupied half of the seats, as that strange audience was too numerous to gather on the backstage. There was a rustling sound in the air while people whispered of the gathering being old-fashioned or unheard of, veterans and newbies clearly not sharing the same opinion in the matter. One thing that could be agreed upon was, differently from what they had been called for watching, this was not an usual trial.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I apologize for the delay, but can assure you tonight's show will be worth the inconvenience." A voice came from nowhere specific, but it wasn't an unknown voice. The vast majority of hooded people present would recognize it as belonging to a certain redhead. "You likely realised this already, but this won't be an usual trial, and will require a little bit of your attention."
Others awaited behind the stage curtains, as it could be seem when said curtains were raised. Eight people who had been tied in a row - wrists bound behind their backs and each ankle tied to the ankle of whoever was tied next to them. They were not blindfolded, but still mostly unconscious and the highlights pointed at them in the otherwise dark Theater made them perfectly visible while keeping the audience watching them shrouded in shadows (some things never change).
"Now, since our 'guests of honor' are still taking a nap and it would be rude to wake them up," Hushed laughing was heard from the audience. "I guess we have yet some extra minutes of free time. The majority of you already know me. Some most recent newcomers maybe not. So if you have any questions or comments besides what will be explained to our little friends once they wake up, I'm all ears."
