Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Too many questions all at once, too many people crowding around her... She shook her head unsure what to say but then, the bleeding blue haired woman and the man with the matching brown coat disappeared into a building. She looked over at the other man held at knife point and saw he was released. A mistake, the young hero made a mistake. that meant... dung.
"there, I think he might have gone in there, with the injured girl," She pointed in the direction of the house they'd broken into.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

"Whoa, what is with the glare?" said Jackson, looking at patches' face. "Just trying to lighten the mood. Sorry," he said, putting on a somber expression. "Ikuze, why don't you take your buddy there, I don't think he likes me very much," he said, "I'll scout out and see if the killer's come back."
With that, he made his way to the front of the house, where the door was busted in. Peering outside, he saw a nice surprise: Caitlin Cockfoster! How nice of his first victim to come running back to him! He glanced back and forth, in mock caution, before waving at his guild boss. Maybe he can trick her into coming in...

And as luck would have it, the boy met someone he was not expecting to see. He rounded the corner of one of the streets to bump smack dab into clockmaster Gabriel Sinnet. He stumbled back a step and started rubbing his nose before it registered he hit someone. And someone he knew, at that! Danny rubbed his nose through his scarf and looked at the clock maker. "Evenin' Miste' Sinne'... ya should really 'ead back ta the store fer now. Killer's been spotted an' I'm tryin' ta 'unt 'im down. Don' wantcha gettin' mixed up innit, so wouldja 'ead somewhere safe? If ya ain' lookin' ta go ta the store, then Commander Skye's back thataway. 'e'll be able ta keep ya safe."
Danny pointed down the alleyway he had just come from before he started looking around again. "I don' s'pose ya seen a s'picious lookin' bloke wit a brown trench coat runnin' around, 'ave ya?"

Caitlin got her hopes up that she was on the right track, but like everyone else she had her doubts, especially when a face reemerged from the house and it was one she knew. Still standing there in the tattered trench coat, she now had the benefit of spying his face.
"Or maybe not..." she said aside to the two EIRAL officers nearest her. She chewed the corner of her lip. Had she been wrong? "I , I know him." she said and started to step forward toward the gent in the coat in the busted down doorway. Where had the winged girl gone he'd taken in the house with him? She wondered if she got close enough, would she see the girl past his shoulder, down the hall maybe? She shuffled closer.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. When Jasper and his companion arrived at their destination, the commotion seemed to have died down, not by much, however. Three equally daunting situations presented themselves to the pair. To their left stood a trio of important looking people - one of them a woman of nobility, another definitely a member of EIRAL given his uniform, and the third was most likely the child of a lower class couple from what Jasper could see of him but since he was conversing with the other two he had to be important somehow. To the right, a house with a suspicious hole where its door should have been; across the street he managed to just barely make out a child-like figure holding down a coated man through the surrounding crowd. How or why, he had no idea nor could he find any indication through the masses of people. "What do you think we should do?" he asked Maeve whilst keeping his eyes set intently on the man and child by the house. As if some divine force chose to answer for the woman beside Jasper, the childish figure - now easily defined as a girl - leapt off the man and began to sprint away. A few moments later a head popped out from the house's doorless frame and appeared to beckoned the noble woman over with a wave. That left two opinions. Jasper repeated his question but with less conviction; he had weighed the circumstances and was practically set in his choice.

Taken back by the mans comment about the condition Stephen and herself were in, a frown came from her lips. "I don't think it is the time for comments like that, even if you were trying to lighten the mood." Zona said as the thought of trusting him even the slightest flew from her mind. She watched as he ran up the stairs, "I don't trust that guy... Somethin' ain't right with him..." Zona whispered just loud enough for Stephen and the girl to hear. Turning Zona walked over to the table grabbing her bow and arrows and walked back to over to the others, as she stepped out of the door she noticed how soaked and bloody the coat around her wrists had become, reaching in her side bag she pulled out her bandage wrapping, "I have this, even though its light and small it really does help. You don't have to take it obviously but its here if either of you need or want it." She said as she quickly pulled the coat off that was wrapped around her wrists, and tied the wrapping around them instead.

He couldn't believe it! She was actually walking to him! He cautiously made his way to meet her, but as soon as he left the doorway, he saw her two compatriots. So he was followed!
"Everythin' is goin' 'rong, everythin' is goin' 'rong, everythin' is goin' 'rong 'rong 'rong!!!" he thought. And everything was going so well...where did he go wrong? He was promised that everything would be taken care of...he could have his fun, and he would help take care of the clean up...
That's right...he'll take care of the clean up...
Tired, he stumbled into Caitlin. "Boss, you're alright, thank goodness! I don't know what I would've dun..."
He quickly drew out his knife and stabbed black blooded beast in the stomach.

Gabriel stood gobsmacked by the young messenger's statement. "Hunt him down," Gabriel asked incredulously, "Danny, please don't tell me you are mixed up in all of this. It's too dangerous. Please, let me take you back to the shop. I am sure if the killer was spotted the soldiers will take care of it."
Gabriel pleaded with the young boy, though he new better that to hold out hope. He was fond of the boy, but Gabriel knew how stubborn the boy could be if he was set on something. Gabriel prayed the messenger would accompany him back to the store, but racked his brain for options should the boy choose to pursue his mad course of action. Perhaps if I shadow him I can keep an eye on him... I've a few tricks no one will expect...
Ikuze had at first been semi-relieved that one of the Rogues had found them... but there was something off just like Zona and Stephen said. He seemed... too relieved... too eager... almost like he was trying to act the role... Maybe I'm just over-thinking it... She accepted head at Zona's offering of a bandage. "Thanks Zo-" she began to say as she wrapped her hands in the offered gauze, before she heard the faint snick of a blade being drawn, her eyes latching towards the sight of Jackson close to Caitlin... too close... Her eyes widened before she screamed, "NO!" Ignoring the throbbing aching pain in her busted hands she charged upwards, the gauze now flaring into a blaze with her magic, all thoughts of disguises or pretences dropped in this one moment of utter betrayal.
The thief took the steps two, three at a time before running along the right wall and aiming to slam one fire covered fist into Jackson's traitorous face, trying to get him away from Caitlin as much as possible. "Ye stay away from her ye bloody yella-bellied bastard!" she cried out, her hands burning from the flaming gauze, adrenaline pumping through her body which numbed the pain somewhat. Her eyes were fixed on Jackson, her teeth baring themselves in a near feral snarl.

Tired, he stumbled into Caitlin. "Boss, you're alright, thank goodness! I don't know what I would've dun..."
He quickly drew out his knife and stabbed black blooded beast in the stomach.
"...If yu died b'fore I kill'd ya."
Caitlin smiled at him, ready to slip into her role as the figurehead of their guild, even reaching a hand out to comfort him as much as a lady aught to - given the witnesses around them - but then the tone of his voice changed and the words weren't making sense. There was a flash of light off of something shiny and silver, a scream, some familiar voice cried out with a loud "NO" and then a white-hot wave of fire burst from her stomach and ran along the circuitry of her nervous system all the way to the tippy top of her head. She coughed half in shock, half in desperation to expell the breath pain had caused her to clench to.
Caitlin looked down at the handle and found her own hands around the hilt, black blood quickly oozing and sticking to everything touching the wound. Her clothing, thankfully already dark in hue because of the funeral, was drenched. She stumbled on her feet and looked up to meet the commanders eyes. Fire flashed to the side of her vision but she didn't look. Instead she watched the man with crumbling hopes that she didn't know she ever had, and pulled the blade out. She had to, it was her only chance.
She hissed, grinding her teeth and scrunching up her eyes. Caitlin fell to her knees and bowed her head, doubling over. Noise was loud in her ears, things happening all around her but she couldn't focus on that. She knew a spell, and she'd rarely used it, her mind was frantically searching for it in her memory. Panic seized her and made recovering the memory harder, taking longer to draw it to herself. She could heal. After the first time she'd been attacked, she made sure to learn the spell, but what if she couldn't remember it?
Her eyes opened and she looked at her hands, shaded by the curve of her own body closing in on itself like a small child. She had to do this, she had to do it quickly, and then she needed to run. The commander had seen, he must have, she had to get out of here before he had time to confront her with the truth.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Danny grinned at the clock master. "Yeh. Tha' challenge'a Big Blue's? Tha' was my idea. See, I knewed I couldn' do much m'self, so I went and got 'elp. The Big Guy likes me well 'nuff, all things considered, so me an' 'im cooked up this lil plan ta try an' catch the killer. 'e was close by, so I can' stop now. Don' worry, Miste' Sinne'. I ain' so 'elpless as I look." Danny tugged his scarf back into place before he glanced around the alleyway. "Tell ya wha'. I'll walk ya back ta yer shop 'fore I get back ta lookin'. Sound fair?"
What little energy he had left was utterly spent. Ikuze ran out of the room unexpectedly, shocking him completely. Oh no, something must have happened... and she was charging right towards the danger. "Ikuze!" he yelled in panic, taking a quick step forward. But his legs gave out on him, causing him to collapse sideways against something hard. Pain burst through the dull tingling in his right arm, the one he currently was sliding down with all his wait on it. It hurt so bad he could not breath for a moment. Sliding down what he thought was a stone wall, he ended up a crumpled mess on the ground, wheezing in pain. Queens not now, why did his body have to give out now?! The fuzzy haze that had been eating at the edge of his vision quickly began to spread, blurring everything together. Glancing at his wounded arm, all that his vision could pick up was a dark maroon coating the injured appendage. Before his vision completely left him, he looked back up to where Ikuze had gone. Before he could call out for her again he fell into the horrifying darkness of the unconscious.
For a split second, Skye was torn between what to do. Should he go after the Killer and make him pay for what he'd done? Or should he stay with Cait? It was the hint of black blood that made the decision for him. Faolan pulled his jacket off as fast as he could manage, ripping more than a few buttons in the process, and in a moment he had her in his arms, with his uniform pressed to the wound. Let the black seep into his jacket, it was the same color, no one would notice. Danny had made it clear. She had gone to such lengths to hide it from everyone, so she could protect her family. He didn't even want to think what they would do to her father if anyone found out.
He looked down at her, noting the panic in her eyes. He had a good guess as to why. She was on the verge of bolting, which would only make matters worse. So, he smiled and kissed her forehead. "It's ok," he said softly. "I know, and it doesn't matter, but lets get you sorted before anyone else finds out."
At that he began to look around for an exit. "Lorraine," he shouted, "Keep these people back." He needed to find that crazy witch doctor again. He'd pay whatever the man wanted, but he wasn't going to loose her. The sheer stupidity of it all, he should have been watching better, he should have seen the signs. "And Arrest that man!" He pointed to where Jackson was being accosted by Ikuze. He should have suspected something was wrong, when no one moved to carry out his orders.

Zona watched in surprise as both the blue haired girl and Stephen ran off, "Wai-" Zona tried to say but was too late, both were gone. Zona raced after the two of them and saw Stephen had collapsed and was lying against the side of a stone wall, Zona rushed over to the rich boy and pulled out another thing of wrapping from her bag. As gently as she could she rewrapped his wound, and carefully picked him up, he needed a doctor and she knew just the guy. As she stood up with the boy in her arms she realized he was a bit heavier than she thought, pain shot all around her, from the strain in her wrists to her mangled and bloody wings. "drat your a bit heavy..." Zona said as she body got used to the pain and the weight of the boy seemed easier to handle. Carefully she made her way outside, she saw a noble looking girl doubling over in pain and a guard standing next to her, along with the blue haired girl go after the man in the coat who ran off with what looked to be a bloody knife in his hand... She knew something was wrong with the guy. She didn't have time to stand around and watch what was happening, if she didn't get going something bad could happen to Stephen, so she continued one her way carrying the boy off, hoping she remembered the way she needed to go.
As she made her was down the streets the pain in her arms was getting to strong for her to ignore, but she was almost there, she could see the sign the doctor Stephen took her to when they first meet. She hoped he was in, she hoped the door would open, she hoped Stephen wouldn't end up dying in her arms. As she reached the door she pounded on it with what strength she had left, Stephen was slowly getting heavier and heavier, "Open the door!!!! Please!!!!" Zona screamed as her knees buckled and she began to shake.
