Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Stephen nodded, his eye flicking to her hand rested on her blades for a moment. "Splendid. My name is Stephen Leland. I will escort you to my house for the tea. I believe that my motor car is just over there" he said gesturing over an elegant black car a ways away. He tucked his books once again under his arm then turned on his heels and started to walk towards the car. The chauffeur, a young redheaded man, sat asleep in the car. Stephen rolled his eyes at the sight and opened the door himself for his guests to get in. He smiled politely at them, hiding his annoyance with his incompetent driver. "My house is not that far away, just a few minutes by motor car."

Lorraine's eyes traveled to the vehicle nearby then looked down to Felix with pondering look. It was not often the beast was allowed in one of those as she tended to walk everywhere, but when in one, people could see the fox was not too for off from his dog counterparts. While Stephen led she followed then let Felix into the car before she went in. The furry thing wasn't large but while seated on her lap, he felt quite heavy. "I should feed you less," she muttered jokingly to him and at that the fox gave her an unamused look before licking the bottom of her chin.
"Okay, first, I've found a noble willing to talk to me. Now, I'm getting a ride in a motor car...fortune IS smiling on me," thought Amon, trying to suppress a smile. Feeling a little awkward, he entered the vehicle, sitting next to Blackmoore, cautiously eyeing the fox. (...yeah...I think I'll be short until Amon reaches Stephen's dad )

Stephen blinked in surprise as he tapped the drivers window. The man jerked awake and turned to see Stephen giving his a disapproving glare. The man sheepishly coughed and started the motor, trying to avoid the annoyed noble's eyes. Stephen shook his head closed the door to the car, walking around the vehicle to get into the front seat. The car pulled away once he was safely in. Stephen turned to face his two passengers. His eyes slid down to the small fox on Miss Blackmoore's lap, noticing the creature's presence for the first time. It was an oddly appealing creature.

While the motor vehicle went bumping along the road, Lorraine had to loop her arms around Felix's body in order to keep him still and on her lap. He wasn't small but he wasn't large either and for all of him, he kept squirming. The sleek furred beast wanted nothing more than to climb over Amon or to pop his head out of the window. She had trained him so well to obey all commands... unless it concerned a car. Here, Felix was as untamable as any wild animal. As they began to reach the estate in which Stephen lived, she could not help but be impressed. Despite that she had been of noble birth and her own family home was quite large, it was modest compared to the Leland estate. "Your home is very marvelous, sir, quite a beauty to behold," she said with a small smile as she looked to Stephen then back out the window. Felix bobbed his head up and down then finally stuck it out of the window to enjoy the breeze as it passed through his fur.
Amon couldn't help but stare at the sight of Stephen estate; he also couldn't help but think over the pros and cons of having such a large living quarters. When the car came to a stop, he couldn't wait to get out and see what Stephen had to say on the dolls.
"So Stephen, lead the way."

Stephen turned his eyes from the curious beast to his estate. "Thank you. No need for flattery though. It is big and obnoxious like the rest of the noble homes in this area" he stated plainly. It was an annoyingly large house. His father liked everything larger than life but Stephen personally preferred smaller houses. There was still times that he walked the hallways and got lost. The car slid to a stop at the front door, allowing it's passengers to get out.
Ronaldo, the distasteful head butler, opened the front doors with a bored look on his face. "Welcome home, Sir. We were all distraught by your absence for a mere two hours and 13 minutes" the old man said in a monotone voice, not even looking at the patrician. Stephen smiled politely at his butler "I am sorry that my absence displeased you, Ronaldo. I will be sure to spend extra time with you tomorrow." This would have seemed like a friendly conversation had it not been for the tense atmosphere around the two speakers and the heated looks they gave each other as they spoke. The old fool had probably thrown a party at his absence. He was just hamming it up because there were guests. The was a small victory for the noble when the old man frowned at the mention of spending more time with each other. Stephen smirked in response and turned to his guests, ignoring the old man one again. "What kind of tea might I interest you in-" his question was interrupted by a loud roar coming from the staircase behind him.
"STEPHEN! You did not tell me you were bringing guests home! And who is this fine young Lady!" Sir Leland charged over to the group, an overjoyed smile plastered onto his face. He took Miss Blackmoore's hand in his large ones and bowed his head "I welcome you to our humble abode, my dear." There he goes again, putting on the charm the young patrician thought, suppressing the need to roll his eyes. "Father, this is Miss Blackmoore and Mr. Amon. This is my father, Sir Ch-" "Charles Leland! An absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance. Don't worry, just call me Charles. Now, what has my son brought you here for? It is a rare thing for him to bring over guests, especially women!" he winked at Miss Blackmoore, a charming smile on his face.
"Father, I brought them over for tea and to discuss... something that you might have knowledge in. And stop patronizing Miss Blackmoore father, it is not like that. This is purely business!" he said with a huff, annoyance flickering in his eyes. He turned to address Miss Blackmoore "I apologize Miss. I hope his actions have not discomforted you. If they have feel free to give him a bop on his head. He certainly needs it." he said flippantly, eyeing his father. The bear of a man turned to him with an amused grin "Stephen! Must you always be so rude to me! Why, I was just being friendly!" Stephen waved his hand dismissively. "Come, we shall have our tea in the conservatory. This way."

Felix popped his head back into the vehicle when it came to a stop and as soon as Lorraine released him, he leapt out of the window to land on the ground before padding of several feet from the car. There, he waited for the others to evacuate the machine. Lorraine caught the interaction between the the young man and his butler, interactions that she was not all too unfamiliar from knowing. Not that she ever experienced them, but growing up visiting other families she saw the treatment between those children and their own butlers or servants.
She was taken by surprise only moments after when what appeared to be Stephen's father joined them. Before she knew it, her hand was taken into his larger one and she could feel his lips on the back of her gloved hand. She had the decency to blush at the gesture but her eyes went to look over the son before turning a polite smile onto the father. "Ah, yes, well, sir. Excuse me but I am only here on business," she offered. "Your son is offered to aid this gentlemen right here," she waved her hand to Amon. By now, Felix had moved up alongside her and was presently staring up at the large bear of a man. She felt no need to bop anyone on the head and although it was unexpected, she found it flattering.
"The name's Amon, sir," he said, giving Charles a wave. "Stephen here is being kind enough to offer me some help with a project. If you are available, I would like to hear what you have to say on the subject."
After making sure his boots were clean, he proceeded to follow the boy.

"Well I am glad that you graced us all with your presence anyways Miss Blackmoore." Charles said cheerily. He smiled at Amon "Oh course! I hope that my knowledge will help you." Stephen sat down on one of the three couches that faced the fireplace in the room that they had just walked in. A maid came up and took everyone's tea orders then left quickly afterwards. After they were all settled down, Charles clapped his hands together, sitting on the same couch as his son "Now, What can I do for you?" he asked brightly, that ever present smile on his face. Stephen glanced nervously at the fireplace, not wanting to see his fathers reaction tot the subject. Most definitely he was going to get in some trouble over this.

Quietly Lorraine let the introductions go by and then when they were set in motion, followed along just as Felix followed her. She did not hide her interest at looking over everything they passed. This was truly a sight to see and she thought she and her brothers had been spoiled growing up. When they reached the room they would be occupying, she ran her hands behind her thighs so the tails of her coat would not fold on themselves and wrinkle. Felix came around to her side before crawling over her booted feet to lay on them. This was an action Lorraine found cute when she was younger and at some times, still did. In winter, she loved it, but in the public it was touch embarrassing because her movement was limited. At her side were her swords that she had removed prior to sitting. "You've a lovely home," she commented quietly then smiled at Stephen's father before making a display of admiring the room.
"Let me get straight to the point," said Amon, sitting down on a couch, mentally noting of how comfortable it was. Addressing Charles, he continued, "I entered Central Square, hoping to gather some information for a project. When I chanced upon Stephen, he offered to talk in depth on the subject at his home. And here we are. With that back story done, I will present you my question: what do you know about the clockwork dolls, specifically, their core."

"Why thank you my dear! I put my sweat in blood into getting this house! I am glad that you appreciate it!" Charles said cheerily in response to the woman's complement. Stephen tensed up, glancing nervously at his father as Amon began his important subject. Sure enough, The large man's cheery smile all but disappeared at the mention of the core. "Oh. So you want to know about that, eh? Might you have one of these in possession? If so how did you get it..." the room seemed to drop in temperature a little as Sir Charles's attitude took a one-eighty degree turn. Stephen swallowed nervously, looking at his fathers cool expression and wondered if it was such a good idea to bring them over after all. The man was obviously still enraged over the loss of the core.
"If I had one of these cores in my possession, I wouldn't be out asking nobles for information; I'd be in my shop, tinkering away at it," replied Amon calmly. Raising his mechanical arm, he continued, "As you can see, I'm part clockwork doll, in a sense. My old man fashioned this arm for me after an...unfortunate incident. When I visited him again for some upgrades, I started asking him about the old clockwork technology, and the only thing that escaped his memory was information about these cores. I realize that it is only a matter of time before I finally make a working doll, but it's their optional cores is what interests me..."

When Amon began the conversation Lorraine bent over to bury her fingertips in the soft fur of her companion. From the corners of her eyes, just passed her bangs she could make out the change in Stephen's father. The very atmosphere of the room even appeared to take on a different tone as though all dilly dallying was suddenly dismissed and the serious subject matter was allowed to settle. She made no move nor voiced anything yet as Amon and Charles exchanged words. Unaware of Stephen's own thoughts, Lorraine was beginning to wonder if this was a brilliant idea in coming her or not. Regardless, she gently patted Felix's side and the fox knew to playfully roll over on his belly so he was not on her feet any longer, that way, should she need to, she would be allowed to jump up to action. Of course, for the moment, the soldier remained relax as there was no present danger, but one could never be too prepared.
