Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"I have no idea why they were acting like four year olds, and probably never will." She grinned shrugging, although he couldn't miss the slightly curious look in her eye at the odd tone in his voice. She'd ignore it for now, deeming it nothing to worry herself about. Especially with the sight of food. "I will take the tea without a second of doubt!" She laughed, tucking a few stray strands of hair behind her ears. "Wild berry salad sounds different, I've never had it nor really heard about it. I think I'll be a bit adventurous today!" She shifted up on her knees more to peer over into the basket. Her eyes skimming the items with barely contained interest, picking out things she recognized. After satisfying her curiosity she looked up at him, smiling and reaching out to ruffle his hair a bit like she always did. Watching the blonde hair fluff up at her touch. That made her happy, to be close, to share absent little touches that seem to not mean much to the passerby but it meant something to her at the least.

Keefe smiled a bit as the subject was dropped and a new one was kind of brought up. "Tea and berry salad it is then!" He said with a smile as he started to pull stuff out and gently place them on the blanket in front of them. "I have to say I've had the salad before and it is rather good. The different kind of berries in it give it a different, yet refreshing taste." He said as he hand her a glass full of tea, before turning back around to scoop out some of the salad. "So how have your paintings been going? Any really good ones?" He asked as he finished dishing out two plates of salad.

She quietly thanked him for her tea and took a sip as she mulled over his opinion of the salad. It sounded very delicious. But at his next question she snorted. "Are you suggesting I make bad paintings?" She knew exactly what he meant but it never hurt to mess with him a bit. He usually got the cutest stutter when he was flustered. It made Elaine laugh. "I'm only kidding!" She giggled, "I have about three you can sell, the others are going to have to wait." She sipped on her tea more, a smirk resting on her lips. "Pace it out, if the clients like one particular artist, they'll be eager to see more as you space out new paintings. Makes a few come in more often to look." Bookstore sells talent peeking out. Look at her, SO proud.

"What?!" Keefe said with wide eyes, "I-I didn't mean it like that! Your paintings are wonderful! I just- I just meant..." Just then she said she was only kidding. Keefe sighed a bit as he looked over to the girl. "You know I love your pieces." He said in a light voice with a small smile. With his nerves already on edge things like this didn't really help to calm them. sighing again he grabbed some silverware out from the basket and handed it to Elaine. "I get what you mean though. You have to make them wait a bit before new stuff comes out, otherwise they will lose interest." Keefe said as he took a bite of his salad, "I will say though several people have wanted to know when something new of yours would be coming, and another piece of yours sold the other day. An older woman and her husband bought it." Keefe said with a smile, "They were a cute older couple. The said they had been together for almost 55 years. They bought it as an early anniversary gift to one another." Keefe added, wondering if that could one day be him and Elaine. The small box in his pocket grew heavier once again.

She took the utensils he gave her and looked down curiously at the food in her hands. It smelled good, looked even better, she didn't take long to satisfy her curiosity. Very pleased with the salad, she sat for a moment to enjoy it and listen to him. Perking up with bright eyes at the mention of the sweet couple. "Really?" She seemed proud, and humbled by the news. "That makes me happy to hear, that's what art is for. To give a nice touch of meaning to a home, or a life." She grinned widely, a glimpse of her excited adventurous self peeking though. The sunlight glancing off her fork when she turned her wrist a certain way, but it was just a mere flash to attract attention. She ate a bit more seemingly in thought before she looked up at him. "Cas has missed you surprisingly. He doesn't get attached to people easily but he wants to stop by your store all the time when we were out."

Keefe looked over to Elaine some as she mentioned Cas, "Really? He wants to see me?" Keefe said rather surprised, "I didn't think he liked me all too much." Keefe added as he took a bite of his salad, smiling some in the process. Deep down he really did want the dog to like him, and he really was happy to hear that Cas wanted to see him. "I guess once we are all done I'll have to stop by for a little bit and say hi to him." Keefe smiled, as he looked over to Elaine. She looked so beautiful just sitting there, and he couldn't help but wonder... When... When would be a good time...

"He didn't like you at first. But he took an interest in the glass doe you gave me back at the Festival of Hearts." Elaine smiled, remembering her first "date" with Keefe. The time when she was merely helping the new kid in town find his sister. She was younger then, but she had matured a bit since. Elaine pushed her bangs out of her eyes and glanced up. "I told him all about it and he seemed to pick a liking to your name." She laughed, glancing up at him with a soft blush hazing under the dapple of light freckles on her cheeks.

Keefe smile a bit when Elaine mentioned the festival of hearts and the present he got her. He was a bit surprised by the fact that the dog seemed to realize that Elaine liked the glass sculpture, and recognized the name of who got that for her. Smart dog. "Well I guess I really have to stop by and see him then, hu? He likes playing fetch and what not right? Maybe we can have some fun and throw a ball or something around for a bit." Keefe said as he took a few more bites before finishing off his salad. He ended up eating that faster than he thought... Setting the plate down he looked up at the sky, and just took everything in. He couldn't help but smile even more.

"You should, but he might pretend not to like you again. He can be a bit childish at times, he thinks he's being sly." She giggled, eating quietly as she thought before sitting her now empty plate down. Humming softly in fondness of the flavors. "He loves fetch, I think he'd definitely drop the charade then." She let her eyes drift to him. Looking over his features with a happy smile. She moved around a bit before leaning over and sitting on her knees enough to wrap her arms around his shoulders. Burying her nose in his neck and giving him a little nuzzle. She'd missed him. She sat there in quiet contentment for a moment then finally let go, sitting back. One hand stretching out to take his hat and playfully chuckle as she put it on, tucking strands of curls up around it. Messing with it for a moment before becoming satisfied with its position and leaving it alone. Glancing over at him and flashing him a sly grin, her eyes saying 'Yes boy, please try to take your hat back. Just try it.' Elaine was such a tease.

Keefe smiled as Elaine's arms wrapped around him. He loved times like this. Keefe then leaned into Elaine some as he closed his eyes a bit, remembering something that would make this whole thing even better, though he keep the thought to himself for the moment. He opened his eyes when he felt Elaine pull away, he wished the two of them could just stay like that, without a care in the world, and just together forever. As Keefe turned to look at her he realized what she was about to do, but alas... it was too late. His hat was gone. He smirked at her as she put it on. That was one of his favorites a lime green with a few spots of paint here and there, most were faded but there were a few newer ones on it. "You know. I think you look good in that." He smiled, "You can pull off that type of hat." He added as he stood up, holding out a hand, "I have something I think you will love to see." He said, forgetting about the hat for now.

She cast her gaze up to the hat, appearing a bit crosseyed as she tried to see the brim in front of her face. "Really? I never thought about wearing hats..." She laughed a bit, pushing it up on her head as she turned to look at him. "You have something I'd like to see? Something other than yourself?" Elaine blushed a bit but smirked. She could flirt. (Honors to Lasair though, he was a master at the cheesy puns and even worse pick up lines.) "What is it?" She asked curiously, trying to see over his shoulder. The feline leaning forwards on her hands to get enough balance to sit.

Keefe blushed slightly at what Elaine said, "Oh come now, you'll have plenty of time to do that later. Right now I've got something to show you." Keefe said with a smirk. See! He can flirt too! Kind of... He smiled a bit as the girl sat up some, "Well come on. I have to show it to you." He said as he turned and began to walk off some, looking over his should for a moment before stopping. "Come on!" He shouted some as he waved at her from a slight distance.
Once the two were next to each other again, Keefe lead the way back into the tree line, but this time much further down and a bit away from the picnic. "It should be right around here..." He said as he looked around some, craning his neck to see around some of the trees, until. "Ha! There it is!" Keefe said with excitement as he started to head off, only to stop for a moment and turn to Elaine. "Ok if you want to see this, you need to close your eyes. It has to be a surprise!" He said with a smile as he stood in front of her.

She smirked, watching him walk off before he called to her. She shook her head, clearing her daydreaming thoughts and jumped to her feet. Trotting after him through the meadow grass. It brushed across her legs like light feathers. The feline slowed down as she got to him, using one hand to push the had firmly on her head. She went to follow him as he found his mysterious surprise but when he suddenly turned she tried to make it look like she hadn't just totally slammed on her brakes to avoid running into him. She didn't want to seem overly eager but she couldn't help it. She gave him a sheepish grin and nodded. "But wait, how can I see it if I have my eyes closed?" She teased closing her eyes anyways. Her hands automatically reaching out for him, not wanting to hit anything...like wow! Surprise! Tree! That would be embarrassing...

Keefe chuckled some as Elaine's arms began to reach out for him. Smiling he grab them and then slowly began to walk backwards, saying out loud whether they needed to go right, or left, or if she needed to step up and over something. As he talked though his voice slowly became louder and louder, since it was being drowned out by the sound of falling water. Keefe let go of Elaine's hands and gently grabbed her shoulders, turning and moving her ever so slightly so that when she opened her eyes everything would be perfect. Looking behind him he nodded his head some before letting go of her shoulders. "Keep your eyes closed just a little bit longer." He said as he moved off to the side and grabbed the small box from his pocket. He let out a silent breath as he turned to look at Elaine. He made sure that he was far enough out of her view that she would have to turn to see him. Taking a deep breath Keefe knelt down and held the box in his hand, hiding it a bit with his other hand.
The scene that was before them was a large waterfall, with a sparkling blue pond beneath it. Trees of all different kinds surrounded this hidden place, making it hard to see from the forest but crystal clear once it was found. With large canopy overhead, the sun made its way though the leaves, only to leave long strikes of light until they hit the ground. The colors from the sun that shone though and the grass, trees, and water were unreal, to vibrant and bright, it seemed like something that should be in a painting, but none the less everything was real. From the many leafs on the trees above to the crisp water that fell from the top of its tower like cliff. From the small red berries that were scattered around on the bushes, to all the different Koi fish that swam within the pond. Everything was real.
This was going to be real to. Keefe looked at the box one last time before he gripped it tight in his hand and looked up to Elaine. "Ok. You can open your eyes now." He said smiling some.

Elaine perked up at the sound of water, the confusion written all over her face. Her fingers giving a questioning little squeeze to the hands on her shoulder's before they disappeared. Waiting patiently as he told her to wait a bit longer, but that didn't stop her from tilting her head slightly in the direction of the noise. Why was there water? Then Keefe told her to look. Her eyes were open in less then a second as she was instantly glancing at the waterfall. Tilting her head back to look up at it a bit in awe, her eyes wide as she took it all in. The bright colors reflected in her eyes. The sunlight distracting in a wonderful way. A smile broke out after her few seconds of amazement, wide and absolutely delighted. "Oh my stars! This place is beautiful! Keefe how did y--??" She turned back to Keefe to tell him how gorgeous the place was but stopped mid-word, he was down on his knee. Was he alright? Oh, of course he was, he was smiling. She gained a look of question before noticing he was holding something. Typically the stance he was in had a universal meaning. And if Elaine could decipher properly then there was no mistaking the picnic, the way her parents were acting, what he was holding now. Her hands went to her mouth in utter shock and surprise. Part of her already wanting to say yes, but the other half wanted to wait, to see what happened...
