Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Veronika Tallent , the CAEsAL guild and anyone else who might be present at the Theather District
---Happens the day prior the World of a Fair thread---
The District was bustling with activity, mainly with the massive festival being organized for the next day. It was getting so crowded and crazy around the Main Theater that one could literally listen to 20 simultaneous conversations of different groups of people happening at the same time. Someone unseen was complaining about losing 3 inches of height since last time they were measured. "How does someone lose 3 inches?" The thought crossed Edelweiss' mind, but didn't stick for long.
The redhead felt a slight migraine starting to form as she gave up waiting outside and moved back into the oasis of quietness that was her office. She had to receive, interview and welcome some prospective new workers into the guild, but that wasn't going to be possible to happen at the entrance or front halls at all. Someone - likely one of the more slippery children who could freely walk in and out the crowds - would have to guide them into the CAEsAL's Leader's office instead. Hopefully they'd not get lost first.

Veronika's skirts whispered lightly as they brushed against other people while she walked. "Excuse me, excuse me..." she pardoned herself repeatedly, trying to find her way through the crowd as gracefully and politely as possible. While on her way to meet the CAEsAL's Leader, she had become utterly lost. There were so many people speaking around her, she almost didn't hear what the young boy nearby was saying to a lady he was leading by the wrist. He was telling her where the CAEsAL's Leader's office was. She decided to follow them. After a short while of walking and nearly losing the boy and lady in the mass of people a few times, she finally came to the correct building, and stepped inside, nearly dropping her folder of paintings and drawings she had done to show during the interview. She knocked softly on the door of what she presumed to be the leader's office, desperately hoping the knocking had been loud enough to hear, but not too loud as to seem rude and invasive. She took a deep breath, and switched on her happy smile as she waited.

Edelweiss turned around, stopping rubbing her own forehead (thankfully the light migraine had mostly receeded for now after some moments in the quiet room) and moving her gaze away from the window sill when someone walked into the office, small quiet steps bringing forth a young lady - who almost dropped everything she had in her grip.
"...Careful--" The redhead rushed forward to catch whatever falls, but it seemed the girl managed to collect herself and keep her belongings held on her own. Then she took the time to knock at the open door still, and Edelweiss couldn't help but chuckle amusedly at it.
"You may come in. Take a seat." She gestured to one of the armchairs in front of her desk. "You're Ms. Tallent, I presume?"

Veronika perched herself lightly on the chair in front of the leader's desk. "Thank you," she said politely. She read the name tag on the desk. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Fjäril. I am terribly sorry for my inelegance I showed out there. I promise you, I can be rather nimble, though I have given you no reason to believe me after that." With a small laugh, she smoothed her hair down, and gathered the light strands neatly over one shoulder, as it was surely mussed in the breeze while she had been outside.
"Are there other people coming for interviews as well? I brought some of my work to show." She said, gesturing to the folder which now sat on her lap. The ribbon that had kept it closed was now loose, and Veronika covered it with her hand as a futile attempt to hide her mistake. She smiled sheepishly, then she made a decision to be calm, and turned her smile into a soft, rosy pink one.

"I believe you. It's alright, we all have a clumsy minute here and there." The redhead waved her hand in a calming gesture before reaching out to receive Veronika's work folder. "May I see it?"
"Ah, yes, there are more people coming. We're at the eve of a big event, so we're having a working influx. That leads to my first question, Ms. Tallent:" She lifted her gaze from browsing the artwork to focus back on the blond girl. "What brought you here? I mean this in the more practical sense - plenty of people just need work, or have 'a great passion for not starving'. But different guilds have different hiring policies, so I'd like to hear what called your attention to my guild in particular, and how you'd like your work be shown."

Veronika thought over this question for a moment as Edelweiss flipped through the folder of paintings. What did bring her here? She knew the answer. Her parents. She looked at the floor, the pattern on the carpet becoming suddenly as beautiful as ever. It reminded her of a waltz, the way the lines spun around each other gracefully. Whoever designed this carpet was rather talented.
Veronika decided to be straightforward. "My parents passed in a fire when I was young. It was a nasty criminal's doing. My parents knew how much I loved art. They encouraged me. It's still my passion today." She smiled. "That is why I chose this guild. I've met many hardships lately as well, and it has left me rather alone and penniless, but I'm ready to take my life back and put some good into it, and hopefully make the world a little better as well. My parents would wish me to be here."
"I would like to be a painter, a portraitist, or I can do landscapes, abstract, anything. It could be displayed any way you think profitable to the guild. And if you need another informant I would be very happy to do the job. I could collect information. I do fairly well at going unseen, and unheard, when I need to. I spent many years in an orphanage as a young girl. One must learn to be sneaky in a place like that, or you shall starve, or be beaten. I learned quickly to go unseen and unheard, all the while practicing my artwork whenever I had a chance to. I do believe I could be a fairly good addition to the guild."
She hoped the reply wasn't too straightforward after she had finished the answer, and continued tracing the floral swirls on the floor with her dark eyes. She pulled her gaze away from it to make eye contact with the leader, and smiled politely again.

Edelweiss raised an eyebrow at the mention of the informants. At the very least, Veronika having caught notice of those's existence within the guild was a point in her favor, since they and their services weren't nearly as openly advertized as the entertainers were. But it was mostly a matter of how much this lass could get along with the others who shared that same profession, and if she can catch up to them at work. "That would need to be tested, thoroughly. So it'll take a while." She pondered, and also warned. "If you're truly interested in informant work, I'll assign you a simple task on the way and have you work along a couple of them after you meet. The results will decide if you can be hired on that fashion and where to station you at." While there were plenty of informants who worked upon request and could go everywhere, it was simpler and easier to find them if they had a set spot to meet clients while their info-hunting services are up for hire.
"As for your artistic skills, they seem to be good enough for you to be here without much issue. I still have a couple more questions on it though. How long did it take you to make the slowest picture in this folder, and the quickest? And which ones are they?"

Veronika nodded as she listened to this information, taking it all in. "Alright. I am interested."
"The longest I worked on one is a week; it's this one. It's very special to me, and I put as much effort as I could into it." She politely took the folder back. She flipped through the artwork until she got to a very detailed piece. It was a chubby cheeked baby with thick light blonde hair and big, dark brown eyes, about one year old. She had tried to make it as realistic as any person could ever make a painting, with a slight but barely impressionistic feel to it. She turned it over. Veronika always put the titles on the back of the paintings. 'What Could Have Been,' it read. Veronika gently laid the picture back in the folder.
"The quickest one I ever made is rather simple. It took me only about 30 minutes." She pulled another painting out of the folder, reading the name of this one off. "The Lady and the Cat." It was as simple as it sounded. It was a cat sleeping in an unknown woman's lap. You couldn't quite make out the features on her face. It was not as detailed as the others, and made with watercolours.

Considering the amount of details present in each piece, the 30 minutes one was rather quick in the redhead's eyes while the baby might be seen as a tad slow (but if this is a personal piece rather than one for sale, that was explained as well). "Well, so far it's all good. And for your informant test: we'll have a festival happening throughout tomorrow, and the preparations are ongoing as we speak. You're free to head to the streets and settle as a portaitist or help with the murals around, or head to this buildings upper floor's infirmary area at will; all you have to do is return here by sunset and report of movement in those two areas. There are a couple more people doing the same you will, so I'll be judging your results using theirs as base."
It would also be useful to test Veronika's attention to detail while in a crowd, and (mainly regarding the infirmary) whether or not she can quickly pick up subtle oddities in a scenario. She was free to share or exchange info with the other informants as well while at it, but doing it or not was up to her.

Veronika was taking in this information. She nodded solemnly, letting her know she had heard everything she had said, and had given the leader her full attention. "Alright." She replied with a smile. She had a few questions. "What kind of information am I supposed to be gathering?" She asked, not quite sure on that. "How do I recognise the other informants, if I can communicate with them?" She fought against the nervousness rattling around in her chest silently. She hoped she would be able to accomplish this goal.

"Overall, there are 2 types of information you're required to look for. Firstly, the general ambiance: what you factually see, what is ready, what is needed, what is present and what is going on in the environment around you - for example, if you were analyzing a washroom I'd expect you to tell me if it's clean, if any toilets are broken, if there are lamps needing change, and about whether it's crowded or not and what kind of people mainly walk in (but of course I'm not asking you to analyze the washrooms)." She gingerly closed Veronika's art folder and reached it out for the blond lady to take it back. "The second type are your personal impressions. What you've seen that looks interesting, unusual or simply good or bad enough to call attention."
And regarding the other informants... "Older informants usually already have their station spots defined, and since for this test you'll need to move around some, the ones you'll meet are in average younger than you. If you approach a youngling that seems to be working or watching for the guild, likelihood is it's one of them or they'll at least direct you to one of them."

She thought about this, then said, "Alright, thank you. I think I'll head out to where the festival is being set up, then, and take a look around. I'll come back afterwards to report anything I've noticed or seen." Veronika stood, smoothing the folds of her dress, then extended her arm to give the leader a polite handshake, waiting to see if there was more to be said or if she was free to start.
