Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Caitlin's expression pinged to one of shock, then it grew very - very dark. "I Do hope we are -not- speaking of the same man, or the next time he comes at me with his "kitten this," and "kitten that" nonsense I will neuter him." Caitlin dropped the menu. Before she could say another word a waiter popped up with a pad and paper.
"what'll it be gals?"
"fish and chips." Cait rattled off quickly, then turned to Ede for her order. Soon as the man vanished she continued. "Tell me you weren't thinking of a man named Levi."
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

"No. His name is Amon." Although maybe the completely emotionally unnatached side of her mind might have found funny the idea that both hers and Cait's... something important, guys had thought of the same utterly horrible idea of pretending to be dead. "If they're teaming up in turning that 'being dead but not really' thing a trend, I still think a kick to the jewels is in order."
"...And the same as her for me, thanks." She added to the waiter in a light casual tone, complete with a little smile, totally different from the somber and steely voice she had used for the couple sentences immediately before.

"Like... 'the' Amon?" Caitlin couldn't resist asking. As in the leader of Mingo's Amon. "you mean he's not... dead?" What in the world WERE these boys up to?

"Yes, 'the' Amon." Though saying spelling like that sounded a bit funny. "He's alive. Just been playing dead for the last three months." And the redhead's exasperated eyeroll while speaking was unavoidable.
"Do I take it 'the' Levi you're talking of is that worker of yours? The one with blue eyes and piercings?"

"I'd say yes, except he hardly works for me, he does what he wants." She sighed... it was so hard loving lose cannons, and she supposed if anyone understood that, perhaps it was the woman in front of her now. "He's been playing dead since the queen's garden party." Caitlin glared at the table as her order was placed in front of her. The server hesitated, thinking there was something wrong with the food, but then Cait snapped out of it and thanked the waitress. The woman's expression of relief was telling.

"Makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with mankind." She muttered to Caitlin's little admitance of how long had Levi been playing dead. "Sanity is not in vogue nowadays, it seems. At least we still have food." And the saddest thing? No, that wasn't a joke. Food was literally the only solace for the situation that Edelweiss could think of at that point.

"I couldn't agree more..." Caitlin was of a like mind to Edel right about now, and dug into her food the moment the server walked away. "Mmm" batter fried fish was always best while still hot. She closed her eyes to relish it, but then a vivid flash of metal, teeth biting lips, and a quirky grin crossed her mind. Her eyes popped back open again and she sunk a little in her chair with a sigh.
"But what can a girl do? If all of mankind has gone awry?"

"Option 1- learn to detach yourself from anything and turn into a robot. Option 2- suffer. Option 3- try to stick some sense and reason into our respective I-was-dead-but-not-really lads... Or 4- celibacy - which for some people is about the same as option 2." Edelweiss half commented and half thought aloud while counting on her fingers, after which she decided to give the food the attention it deserved as well and started eating it.
"A shame that none of the options are mutually exclusive. On less dreary thoughts, as surprising as it is to find a friend with the same plight, it's still relaxing to have someone to talk and vent to."

Edelweiss raised an eyebrow at Caitlin's suggestion, and the expression then first became a snicker to slowly turn into a resigned smile.
"Give a taste of their own medicine, huh..." The tone in her voice was still rather amused, but as much as the idea felt tempting it also didn't feel like something she could do. "I can't say the suggestion doesn't have an allure to it, but at least speaking for myself I can't. There's people other than our pretend-felled-boys that would be affected by that too - my mother, my friends, my whole guild... I can't do that to them." Everyone else shouldn't be involved in that specific mess to start with. And even if that wasn't an issue, the redhead would probably not go ahead with exacting 'revenge', because "I don't want anyone else to feel the way I did."

"No, I s'pose not," Caitlin agreed on a sigh. It was well fun to imagine it, entertain the thought like any other guilty pleasure but the truth was they had responsibilities. "While I don't share your last sentiment - as I believe perhaps a taste of his own medicine is exactly what Levi needs to understand what he's caused, I can't forgo my responsibilities. Perhaps Amon knows the weight of that life, but Levi...." She shook her head, "That is one part of my life I can't share with him. I envy him most days, but on others I don't know what to do with him. He'll never know just how much I have to do; a servant to my brethren, that is what it means to lead." To serve her guild and its needs down to every last person she brought into it.
Caitlin tucked into her food and chewed over the thought.

"I can't disagree wth that." She pondered. "...You sound like you're in love. Weren't you together with S--- a certain guy we helped with his 'work issues', though?"

How to answer that.... Caitlin paused her chewing and looked up with a blank stare. After a momentary pause she swallowed and said simply "Yes.... and Yes...." Yes she was in love with Levi, and Yes she was with Skye.

"Well.... uh yeah. Yeah I guess it is." She frowned. "What about you? Any murky romance messing up your life after the boy-o went missing?" She couldn't be the only one getting her love life twisted, could she?
This was Caitlin after all - the eternally cursed spin-stress for life. Every suitor she'd ever had either died, disappeared, or got thrown in jail. Or fake-died!
