The streets lacked people, the pulse of Lodan, still lingering, but barely. Slowly, life began to fill the city as the CAEsAL charity show came underway. Although the war had been inflicting its damages, respite was sought every now and then, and such a show was bound to bring people from their homes, as it had with Wern. Although, home was something he was rarely at these days. No, instead the mechanic had been working at Mingo’s daily, trying to keep up with the influx and deflux of goods.
The Mingo’s “mandate” had seen a rise in overall buying, but purchases were still at an all time low. Bartering and focusing on local goods seemed to have been relieving economical stress a little bit, along with strongly suggesting the reusing of materials to prevent the lose of money and goods. Mixing of ores, for example, as opposed to using a single ore, was encouraged, often times proving to be a better outcome by creating stronger bonds. Indeed, days upon days with the council had been spent, researching, discussing, and deciding on the best outcomes for alternatives to help the guild, and Lodan, during war time had surfaced. But even if alternatives had been found, and progress, made, all of it had drained the older man, and the problem was, at this point, he was putting more into Mingo’s then he was getting out.
Luckily, choosing to work with Cadence was a good idea. Although her goods were rather… strange, they had brought some income to the mechanic, reaching and developing connections with the higher end folk of Lodan, but Alisa still had to work, and Polinya had to accompany Wern to Mingo’s. That was generally alright, despite her ander heritage, for It seemed that her magic was still too weak for it damage the machines, as long as the child didn’t touch anything. But, stopping a five year old from touching something was proving to be more and more difficult for the larger fellow. Even now, the girl scampered around, chasing after any bit of paper that had ended up flying away from its stall. Including those that had been dredged through the mud.
“Wernie, wernie, what does this say!” She would ask, holding up the paper, and bending down, the larger man would chuckle and, albeit hesitantly, pick up the dirtied article to read to the girl.
This action would occur numerous times, with different papers, and not always with papers either. Sometimes there were cans. But, it made Polinya happy, which made Wern happy. The child had been looking forward to the show all week, and although Alisa couldn’t get the time off from Leland Manner (apparently the Butler was giving her trouble still), Wern had worked enough the past few days to be able to take Polinya to the show. Even if it was free, it was hard to take the time off, especially knowing that the bills were only getting worse and worse.
