Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Elaine Anncroft This was the place, at least that’s what Lasair hoped. There were only a handful of bookstores in this part of the district, and he was rather certain this was the one Elaine lived in. So he decided to wait around down the street a little, see if he could run into the girl. It had been a long time since he last talked to her and well, there were some things he wanted to ask, to say. But at the very least, he just wanted to make sure she was okay after all the bombarding the city had gotten. It was dying down a little bit now, but he couldn’t be sure.
At least it was a nice day today, not too hot and not too chilly. He hadn’t even bothered with a jacket, instead settling on a long-sleeve shirt he favored lately. His hair would still give him away though, it always did. Even if he wasn’t dressed up like normal, he was still himself. Outfits weren’t everything, after all.

Elaine walked down the street staring at the cobblestones, her long curly hair falling into her face but she didn't quite make any move to push it away. She wasn't alone either. Castiel was padding patiently at her feet, his ears perked up high on his head as he looked around. Her dark long sleeved shirt a deep burgundy red over her darker leggings and brown boots. Regardless of how nice it was she still had her cloak clipped around her belt and it flowed out behind her as she walked. Cas was constantly bumping into the fabric and her leg. She stretched out one gloved hand to scratch the top of his head, his tail wagging lazily at the attention. She needed to go home and gather some of her things for the moment. She left her daggers in her desk upstairs.
As she approached her home she spotted a head of bright red hair. The sight of it kicking up memories, fun ones, not ones of destruction and panic. She heard Cas give a soft warning bark as they approached. The feline ander blinked her green eyes at the man. "Lasair?"

The sound of the bark caught his attention, making him turn to glance at the source. It was good that he had, for the canine’s companion was the very girl he had been hoping to encounter today. “Hey Elaine,” he said softly, putting a smile on his lips. “It’s been a long time. How are you doing?” His eyes stayed fixed on the dog beside her, slightly wary if it would appreciate his company or not. Animals usually didn't like him, after all. Just to be safe, he didn't make any moves to step closer to her.

Elaine smiled brightly! "It has! I'm doing great..." She held out a hand to Cas, who promptly sat on his haunches, before walking to Lasair and holding her arms out requesting a hug. He sounded somewhat disconsolate, his voice not as loud or energetic as it used to be. "How are you?" She asked.
Castiel meanwhile flattened his ears a bit. He wasn't overly fond of people who got such reactions out of Elaine. Mostly because he was protective and easily jealous. She was his master and he was her familiar. This got the animal to thinking however. Since this man was not Keefe, but she still reacted to him in a very comfortable way, he might as well save his furry tail the trouble and at least attempt to be nice to him.

He accepted her hug promptly, holding her for a moment before stepping back. “I’m doing alright. It’s been a little hectic since the last battle, but I think the dust has finally started to settle. Do you have some time to chat? I’d like to catch up with you on everything.” He tilted his head towards the road where they could walk or settle down in a diner to converse. Or if she had to run, he could always request her company again later. Seeing that she was well had already alleviated a lot of his worries over the girl. Not to mention the fact that she had a protective pooch to watch over her too.

She warmed up greatly with the hug. It felt good to see her friends again, and without a threat breathing down their backs. As he pulled away mentioning the battle of Castamere though memories flashed through her mind. Debris everywhere, people screaming, the frantic scramble to make some order out of chaos and get people out. This made her instantly shake her head to some degree. Despite this, he wanted to talk for a bit. "Yes of course, just let me run inside and grab a few things." She needed her weapons. "And I hope you won't mind if Cas tags along. I don't want to leave him here." Her precious dog, looking lean and mean at about half her height, perked his ears again at his name. He wagged his bushy tail thinking he was going to get something out of the reference she made to him. Elaine only smiled and patted her leg. He jumped up and trotted over, pausing to sniff at Lasair's legs then the bottom of his shirt. Finding nothing interesting save for the natural smell of the magic humans much like Elaine herself he shook out his fur and awaited further instructions.
Elaine gave Lasair a small nod and slipped into the house, jogging up to her room to grab her daggers to attach them to her belt. She also grabbed her gloves walking out the door and slipping them over her hands with a sigh. "Where are we off to good sir?" She said with a teasing lit. Trying to squeeze a typical Lasair response.

His mind winced upon seeing the way she reacted to mentions of the battle. So she was still having trouble moving on from it; he could understand that. If he allowed himself to think through the details…it was better if he didn’t. Well, perhaps it would be better if he didn’t trouble her with questions about that day. She had survived it and that was the important part.
He nodded to her comment about the dog, Cas, coming along. The dog sniffed him carefully and Lasair pulled his hands behind his back as he did so, a habit he had picked up while around dogs. At least Cas seemed to be okay with him; that was nice. But then Elaine needed to run inside, leaving Cas and Lasair to have a staring contest until she returned.
When she did, Lasair found himself letting out a breath of relief. “Where ever you would like to go,” he replied to her question, the usual flirtatious inflection lacking from it, however. “Perhaps a simple walk would be best; not many places allow animals inside.”

The feline bit the inside of her cheek when no flirty, fun response was added. She'd back off of it for now. Something must be bothering him pretty badly for him to seem this sober in his emotions. Cas jumped up and started jogging circles around the two. With one hand she flipped some hair over her shoulder. "A walk would be best I suppose. Unless you're starving, Cas will sit outside if I tell him to." She said patting the dog's head as he passed, his russet fur fluffing up at the action. "Shall we just head downtown?" She asked motioning towards the opposite end of the Merchant's District.

“Sounds like a plan,” he replied and took the lead in walking forward. It seemed that the dog was an energetic and happy sort. His personality complimented Elaine’s nicely. After they had taken a few strides, he decided it would be best to just dive right in with his questioning.
Clearing his throat before hand, he spoke clearly. “If you don’t mind me asking, when was the last time you saw Zona? I recall that the two of you were rather close.”

Elaine glanced around a few seconds before turning back to look at the road in front of her. "No I haven't seen her since the battle. I miss her badly." The young girl frowned. It was a little concerning, how long it had been since she had seen her winged friend. Then again, Zona disappeared all the time and the CAEsAL members learned quickly she would pop back in sometime soon. "I take it you haven't seen her either?" She asked looking up at him with an arched eyebrow. "Is there a reason you need her immediately? I can try to find her..." She murmured. Cas wandered side to side behind them, his claws scraping on the cobblestones every other step. The girl made a mental note to trim them soon.

"No, I've seen her, she's okay. It's just that..." he trailed off, eyes darting to the side. "I was hoping you had talked to her is all. Her and I had an interesting night together and well. I've been avoiding her since then, because I didn't feel the same." He paused here, sighing as his eyes fell to Cas. At least he seemed to smile in a way that dogs did. "I was hoping you could tell me that she's doing okay despite it, but I suppose you don't know yourself."

Elaine looked up at him, her eyes narrowing in a slightly suspicious way but still tinged with innocence. "What...what kind of interesting night?" And why would whatever happened make Lasair avoid her blue haired friend? They had been on edge before but it hadn't caused him to avoid her. "Didn't feel the same?" She asked bumping into him lightly on accident as Cas hit her legs again with his body. She apologized and patted his arm absently. Cas sniffed with disdain at a scent passing through the air. "I'm sure no matter what she's fine." The girl tried to sound reassuring. Surely it couldn't be that bad....right? Most things didn't make Zona sad. She would just get really pissed off for a bit.

His stride stuttered a bit when she stumbled into him, but he recovered with ease. “I suppose I’ll just tell you what happened, since you’ll probably hear Zona’s version of the events yourself when you talk to her.” He paused to clear his throat before continuing. “I went to her place after the battle to check on her. I had a few other reasons to visit as well, but that was the main one. After I got there and confirmed that she was well, I was going to leave but well…she wanted me to stay. And she confessed to holding some stronger feelings towards me as well. She seemed really sad and defeated when I turned her down and I guess…”
“I was worried about her,” he admitted after a moment, sighing afterwards. Zona was a good person, he respected that from her. But he just couldn’t reciprocate her feelings. Not right now at least. That didn’t mean he didn’t care about her, because he did. It’s just her confession made things complicated.

The girl let out a small sigh, at least they hadn't done anything stupid like sleep together. That would have just made things twice as awkward as they are now. "Well...umm... It could be worse." She said raising her arms in a vain attempt at a shrug. She hadn't ever really imagined that there was something brewing between Lasair and Zona. There had always been feelings but they were hard to explain. Zona was always so guarded and tough it was hard to think she'd let it down. Lasair however, had the persistance that might have made her think she had someone she could trust with her feelings. Despite the vagueness of her own emotions and the fact that many of Lassy's comments were merely tease.
"Zona's a tough girl, and she doesn't let things keep her down. I think she will be okay. But..." Elaine paused on a breath thinking about if she wanted to push her next thought. "You don't seem to be the same way. It's not that easy for you to shoulder things off sometimes. Or at least it doesn't seem to be with this situation." His lack of...well...personality was beginning to bother her. Even more so than before. She wasn't sure if it was entirely the issue with Zona or something else. It was just a nagging feeling in her mind, the feeling that something was off. "What is bothering you?" Her voice was soft, curious but not demanding. She could understand if he wasn't in the mood to tell anyone. He seemed a little distant to her even though she thought they were pretty close. "You're not acting like yourself..."

Her concern was sweet. It had almost slipped his mind that not everyone was familiar with his personality shift, but he supposed he could give her a few more details than he gave most inquirers. “I haven’t been the same since the battle. I lost some important people there.” He left it at that, opting to look forward instead as he changed the topic. “I’m sure she is actually okay, but despite that, I’d appreciate it if you could find the time to check on her. I believe you and her are in the same guild, although your jobs there are a mystery to me.” He chuckled dryly as he said as much. He did have an idea about what exactly the two of them did there, but he wasn’t completely sure. It would be better to inquire rather than draw assumptions.
