Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Open to EIRAL "war ... why does war alway find me ...is it my curse ... or my path ... seems like I can never get away from it ...." Roy said to himself as he returned from a patrol of the city , it had been another day just seeing the destruction , lodan was not in the best of shapes and the army was in worse state without its strong leader , as Roy sat down in the training area as he took out his sword and looked at it's green shine, in the past few weeks he had made sure his son and wife where outside of lodan , safely back with his friends for a while , since she had not taken the oath as of yet due to their son still being young. even with missions happening left and right that any and every able body man taken them, Roy chose not to. not because he didnt want to, because he had no one to tell him who was strong enough "sooner or later ..... sooner or later ...." he muttered to himself again as he memories came back of the past wars he was a part of.... a past he tried to get away from...
Long days and few hours of rest had always been something Kalum endured, but never before had he been strained with the effort as he had now. The few precious hours he managed to rest were reduced by half. Rumors spread that with the condition EIRAL was in that every body was supposed to be put to work but some still refused--one currently passing by him. Tasked with the job of confronting the man, Kalum waited in front of Roy's room and when the man eventually came into view, the huntsman stepped in front of his path. "Roy Greenheart you are to report to duty and assigned to me. Logs say you have not been attending any assignments or missions and are in violation of the oath. Every man and woman is expected to do their part and you are no exception. Report to the training grounds immediately."
Roy stopped as man stood in front of him, he looked him up and down , he didn't seem much , just some man with a bow, has mostly seen a few deaths and most likely a puppet to the higher up guy that step in to the last commanders shoes "I smell a lot of fresh green on you" Roy said as he put his sword away "so what happened to the older commander? Im guessing he could not take the stress of commanding under the 'higher ups'" he said as as he looked him dead in the eye with his own eye. "look Sir.. you may have notice but I do what I feel is right of doing .... this war happening right now.. is one war I dont want to throw my self into on coming death for a fool hardy commander who never has never seen war like I have ... or is a man enough to know his own demons" He said as he stood their waiting for the commander to do something , a threat? , a shouting at? , a warning of death?. Roy didn't care , as he wanted to get his message across
Kalum remained standing with his hands clasped behind his back while Roy spouted out what he considered to be ignorance. In the five years he had served--eight if the academy was included--he had been taught that you never underestimate a man or woman for there was no way of telling what their accomplishments were but one thing was certain, this man spoke as though he never did truly see the combats of war or perhaps what he had seen was not true battle. Rather than submit to the man's questions and ignorance, he simply stepped into Roy, cocking his head back so that they were only a mere few centimeters apart. "Report to the training grounds immediately," he repeated with tone low and firm. Then with that he turned on his heels and made for the training grounds where construction had begun anew since the destruction of it months prior.
Roy growled as the man seem like he was acting high on his house as Roy chose to follow, if this man wanted to show or a challenge he would get one. no man unless a Strong had the right to think he was strong " you never answered my question ... " he remarked about when he asked about the last commander " how meany more fake commander must I test? " he added as she kept following the man.
He didn't answer the question before and he had no intentions of doing so ever. Talk, thought the Huntsmen, always talk. There was nothing he hated more than those who spoke but never acted or those who were so cocky they were drunk on their own power. Kalum was a firm believer in action and that doing was far more important, that people got back as much as they put forward and from the reports he had gathered on the man following him he put little forward. The rest of their walk Roy would be greeted by silence from the Captain. He was not a commander yet, but one day he would remedy that. One day he would hold the title and fix this sorry excuse for an army, but first he had to begin low with those who did not obey.
When they reached the training ground it was truly still in shambles but most of the mess had been cleaned to allow space for other operatives to train. On the field several others were fighting and crossing weapons while others caught their breaths and observed. Kalum led Roy to the center where everyone would be able to watch. They knew Roy and they knew his lack of work in the army. Many were bitter as they rightfully should be given that they were injured or subject to them while he was not. Fairness was what Kalum wished to teach today and when he came to a stop he turned to face Roy. He unslung the bow from his back and shoulders then removed the dual string to pocket before straitening the bow. He'd work with bows since he was a child and this one since he'd begun the academy with the Huntsmen when he was fifteen. He knew his weapon inside and out and its capabilities. To use it like a polearm was something he was not unfamiliar with and today he would. "Remove your sword," he commanded Roy. "You're going to fight me with it and train like the rest of your brothers and sisters. No one is an exception to the oath."

as they reached the training ground and the man turned around , telling him to draw his sword and fight him as training "do you really have a death wish? that bow will not hold before me " Roy said as he pulled out his sword, as it made it known singing of steel sliding on steel "there is a reason why I normally train alone if you have noticed all the training doll broken.... but if you wish to face me know I dont stop till I am done" he said as he pointed the green blade at the Commander "ok then Bring it , let see what Demons you have" he stated as a Evil smile came across his face as he ready his stance and started to walk forward , it was only a matter of time.
While Roy withdrew his sword Kalum was busy eyeing which hand reacted first and where he leaned most of his weight in order to have a firm grasp at which side was more dominant. The man was thin--thinner than Kalum though he was taller giving him more reach, but in order to wield a sword of that size and be that large? Kalum wagered he would be far slower than himself whose training regime compromised of endurance and speed over strength for reconnaissance. Arrogance was high on the list of weaknesses the huntsman could point out meaning the other was severely underestimating his capabilities. Dummies were not people and Kalum was a seasoned vet contrary what most would believe upon first sight. Demons? Kalum did not fight with demons but he had plenty of conviction.
An initial test was made--a fraction of his speed to see how the other would react. Dipping in on the side opposite of the other's dominant side, he made a quick jab for Roy's side.
Roy didnt expect the side hit as he took it, the pain shot up his side but he retaliated as quick as he could and swong at the Man with the sword in his right hand as he gave an evil smile on his face. he had reach , he just needed to hit him one to do the damage to take him out. Roy had faced people faster then he was it was only a matter of time, Roy know he could outlast him by strength and how much damage he could take before he went down. after all he had more worse then this in his past of fight.
Roy had made a grave mistake letting the hunter close upon his prey. Few things people knew of Kalum was his prowess and understanding of close combat. He was by far not the best but his best mate had been a polearm user and the rivalry between them had sparked his own initial curiosity of the talent. One thing he had learned was that large weapons did horribly against short weapons when the shorter weapon got into personal reach.
A large weapon required space to move, space to swing, space to breathe and charge up power. Up close like this Roy would suffocate and struggle unless he managed to gain ground, managed to get Kalum out of reach for the length of his sword to make use of the size where the huntsman could not get in. That was something the Captain would not be allowing. With the swing that came at him Kalum ducked and spun to the side of his least dominant side toward his back. He came at Roy with a series of strikes now to keep himself within that small circle.
Roy swing missed as the man seemed to be fast enough to get behind him , as each blow hit lucly for Roy his sword's scabbard and scabbard arm arm was on his back , blocking some of the blows but not every single one, Roy kept his head forward and ducked so a strike to the head would be really hard to hit without coming to the front of the side. "so , you gonna keep hitting me and running... Rabbit?" Roy said as this time he spun left with his free hand as he tried to grab anything of the captain , if he could grab him that would stop his movements , enough to end this with one clean stab or chop.
No answer came from Kalum because the moment he made a reply the moment he would lose his temper and in war you did not fight purely with passion but with your brain. Following this rule he remained silent and let the man grab him. Certainly it would be his end but with one arm incapable of aiding in lifting such great weight it meant his sword would bear down at him and give Kalum the advantage. Perhaps this is why the Old Bear preached that bigger weapons were the worst. Unwilling to give Roy the moment it would take to swing the weapon, the captain brought back his head and aimed to smash it right into Roy's nose where the bridge connected to the forehead between the eyes while trying to bring up the steel of the bow to catch the blade in the grooves of his own weapon.
Before Roy could raise his sword to go in for a stab as his grab was successful it all happened so suddenly as that bow move so fast and the man stuck him the face on the noise , cutting the bridge as he stumbled back as he let go of the bow and stopped his attack. placing a hand on his nose to see he had drawn blood "so you do have some guts .....time for me to stop toying and start killing you..... Rabbit! " as an evil smile ran across his Face as he detached his sword's scabbard from his back , allowing it to fall to make a huge Thud from the weight of it. now grabbed the sword with both hand and raised it up into a stance with the blade pointing to the ground as his eye burned deep into the man "NOW TIME TO SEE YOUR BLOOD RUN RED" he shouted as he Ran and Rushed at Kalum , swing his sword a lot faster and stronger then before in a flurry of attacks.
Again with the rabbit, Kalum thought as he sighed. When he drew back a trickle of blood ran down his forehead from where he had smashed his head into Roy's face. The talking was growing tiresome but if that is what this man wished to do he would take the advantage of the wasted time. One fantastic thing Kalum refused to give up when he moved into the city from the country was climbing so when Roy opted for his flurry of attacks Kalum took to dodging then used the aid of the twin grapples to glide him across the grass toward a large tree as thick as the train was wide. Unlatching the grapples he then launched them into the tree branches above and used them to assist him in reaching the lowest branch before he clambered up higher on his own until he was resting near the top staring down at Roy with his arms folded over his chest, bow caught between them, and his legs dangling over the edge while he leaned back into the thick tree trunk.
"You fight like a novice on the battlefield," the huntsman jeered.
as thing where seemed to be looking up for Roy , it was apparent as the man Dodged his attacks and then Ran , that this man was now getting on his nerves as he had now climbed up a big trees , Roy gritted his teeth as he started to attack the tree with as meany attacks he could do ,as he was now focused on chopping it down to get to the man. he had to end this , he was already angry this man had drawn blood and only Death or major injury would stop Roy now as he mind was one of a beast of war and nothing would stop him from doing what he did best.
