Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

His arrow hit but did little to harm the skeleton. Why would it? At most, the arrow would get lodged but would that stop the monster? Oh no, no. Another idea slipped into his mind as he exchanged his current arrow for one with a shiny ribbon attached. "As do I," he replied back absently to her venom, his mind more concentrated on their task at hand. He loosed the arrow again and when the mortars lit up the sky once more, the shine of the ribbon would catch the attention of Caracalla, his golden eagle. The large bird spread her wings and dipped down from her perch to race after the arrow in the direction of the skeleton with her talons free and ready to strike... until the skeleton collapsed. Instead of meeting the monster, the bird scrambled for the arrow and took to the sky again. "What happened to it," he muttered mostly to himself.

Zona sighed some as the skeleton fell to the ground. "I told you not to fire." She said to herself as she flopped on the ground for a moment, thinking of what happened. Why would a skeleton appear... It's not like she sent it out, after all she didn't even know necromancy... And the guard sure couldn't have since they were humans and wouldn't have sent the un-dead after themselves. That could only mean the girl in the woods. Whoever she was she must have sent it out, done it from behind a tree or something. TREE! Her Leg! Zona had nearly forgotten about her leg. How the hell was she supposed to get back there without looking like a fool limp-crawling back into the forest. But she couldn't stay there... Sitting up some she looked over her shoulder some at the two standing guard. She just needed to get her leg and get out. Slowly she sat up some and began to crawl back to the forest, hopping here and there since he stump of a leg didn't help any.

So much effort for Skeleton. Interested at how others reacted, at how bird flew down, retrieved arrow. Arrow important? Perhaps. Woman finally got up. Moved to leg. But no longer would Mala help. Gave her chance. She used it up. But curious, none the less. Hid in bushes, inched toward soldiers. Wondering, curious. Knew not to tempt, but tried, regardless. How close? At what point, seen? Sayvahn told to be cautious, to evade, but the soldiers- how much could they sense, how much could they know? Hunters, or prey? Hunters, or prey?

"I dont know..." she admitted honestly. That didn't stop her from lifting the gun and scoping out the area some more. Just because it went down didn't mean it would necessarily stay down. She wasn't taking any chances. "Someone raised that thing, there's a witch in the woods, and witches aren't even a part of the Sved problem." She frowned, but the expression softened as she watched the bird retrieve the ribbon. Huh. That was something you didn't see every day.
sorry guys, I had written a very long, lovely post for this weeks ago, and didn't realize that the post didnt go through ;^; This is the only bit I remember, so its what I'll go with for now
The hunter kept his gaze focused on the tree line to scan for any movement as his eagle circled the sky once then zipped back to her owner's side where she dropped the arrow and ribbon into his outstretched hand. Once her item had been delivered, she returned back toward the forest and disappeared into the canopy though any trained eye who knew what to look for would see she simply perched herself onto a branch until her signal was fired again. "Witches right now... just what he needed," he muttered in reply and then hopped off the crumbled wall they currently sat at. "We Should check it out but it's dangerous. Can you cover me?" To go into something they were not entirely sure of was dangerous and downright idiotic. However, danger toward Lodan was something they could not simply let go by.

Zona had somehow made it back to the tree line and back to the same tree that still held her leg captive. She quickly looked around some and noticed that not only was that wild woman gone but that the one soldier with the bird and bow was leaving his post and from the look of it seemed to be coming this way. "dung..." Zona cursed as she tried to remove the metal leg from its lodged spot. She pushed, and wiggled the thing as much as she could but to no avail, the leg remained in the same spot, "drat it..." She said as she got around to the other side of it, maybe if she pulled on it rather than pushed... With just a few good yanks the leg popped out and sent the winged ander flying back into another tree. Rubbing the back of her head for a moment Zona grabbed the metal leg and began to put it on as quickly as she could.

Bird flew. Delivered. Gave stick, with cloth. Then, man jumped down. Man, cautious. Different. Mala wanted to play. Not hurt, but play. People scared of bones. So, more bones. Undid another bone from her bindings. Breathed on it, then threw, scurrying away as skeleton rose in front of solider.

She didn't see the skeleton right away, too busy watching Kalum's advance to notice the undead rising in the darkness. The pale sliver of moonlight finally cut through enough of the branches to glint off of cracked bone. and the bony thing moved. "Over there!" She hissed bringing up her gun again. Jovena slid down the slope and landed on the ground. She kept her eyes open, her heart pounding erratically in her chest.
"How many of these things can they conjure before they run out of dead bodies?" Jove didn't know it was the magic that ran out first, but she assumed, hoped, that something would limit them in their nightmarish attack. The grunts from tugging on the false leg floated to her on the slight breeze, Jovey standing down wind of it, and it pulled her attention (and her rifle) toward Zona.

Just as Kalum crept closer to the forest's treeline the second skeleton sprung to life before him causing him to start. He drew back and since firing an arrow from such close range would not work so efficiently for him given how the first had faired, he simply took to swinging the bow at the skeleton creature as though it were a polearm or staff. Jovena's cries caught his attention but he couldn't spare the moment to look just yet. When the moment presented itself he caught the glimpse of blue hair and sneered.

Everything seemed to be happening at once, not only did that woman see her but she was shouting not to move and the other guy seemed to have his hands full with yet another skeleton, though this time he was smart about it and rather then shoot the thing he swung at it. "Nice move." She thought to herself as she turned her attention to the woman holding a rifle at her. Sighing some Zona dropped what she was doing and held her hands up some, "Can I at least put my leg back on?" She asked, not really caring to be stuck without a leg again.

Watched. Chuckled a little, though, saddened at how attention no longer to her. Wanted attention now. Soldier hit skeleton. Did damage. Didn’t matter. Soon, it gone. But woman. Angry woman yelled toward blue hair. Caught her. But man— Mala could play. Wanted to play. Man, tired, weary, weak. Him, prey, she, hunter. But had to guide away. Had to distract. So, hid deeper into bushes. Preparing to run. If followed, would run into the forest. If not, would try again. But try, try always interesting. Lowered herself. Held breath, angled tongue, then, screamed. Fluctuated sound- weeping woman. Strange creature, like fox, at midnight. Loud. Hoping to catch bird— to catch solider, and disappear into forest, where it would take them.

Jovena squinted at her, not trusting the witch, but after a pause she nodded. "Go ahead, but slowly, no sudden movements" She didn't lower her gun though, she kept it trained on Zona the whole while the woman replaced her missing leg. It made Jovey feel sorry for her, but she quickly scrubbed out that feeling, this was a magic user. She didn't have to be able bodied to do damage. She wasn't a human like they were. She was different. Some fancy Anddddletletr word. Jove preffered just to call them witches. Its what made the most sense anyway to her, and she'd heard it from another foreigner soldier like herself.
A strange cry made her cringe, but she didn't blink or move her rifle. She could only capture one creature at a time. She just hoped it wasn't one of those shadow beasts. "Kalum..?" She inquired, as to the noise.

Kalum froze at the sound. It was haunting and took him back to another time where freezing droplets of water pelted his skin, where dark, red blood stained the ground, where screams filled the air along with the sound of terrible crunching and tearing, where someone called his name and begged for his help. His fault. The thought stuck in his mind as he remained in place. The skeleton had crumbled but he never saw. Jovena's call to him roused him. There is no rain, he had to remind himself, no smell of fire, no thunder or lightning. No shadow beast. "I'm fine," he called back, not realizing he'd broken into a cold sweat. "Jovena, did you find anything?" Although he did not go, Caracalla had grown suspicious of the sound and left her branch in favor of one closer to the sound as she tried to search for the source.
No one answered. But bird, bird flew close. Ducked away, deeper into bush. Ruffled branches. Would lead into forest, but closer, closer. If on branch. Could throw rock, but flew. Circled. Grabbed rock anyway. Looked around, called out again. Draw the bird, catch the bird.

"Alright." Zona said as she slowly grabbed her leg and began to reattach it. She still wasn't used to putting it back on yet and in the process she ended up snapping it closed a bit to close to the skin. "dung." She cursed as the snap pinched her skin, leaving behind a small line of red. Zona stayed on the ground once she was done, only to turn around to look at the woman who had a gun to her. "Sooo...." Zona dragged on some, "Can I leave and we just forget about all this or what?" Zona questioned glancing up at the woman, having a feeling that she wouldn't get off that easily.
