OPEN TO Edelweiss Fjäril and Lasair Landevier Lupen (Happens before the Harrowing Masquerade Ball)
With martial law in effect, one would think that it'd be pretty difficult to go out at night. Turns out, it's not as bad as they make it out to be; if you can figure out their routes, you're good to go. However, the risks outweigh the rewards, so the only people that are still out after curfew are the rebels, those who are desperate, those who know the system...
...and those who are neither Ander nor human.
In this case however, there have been a number of break-ins recently, all pretty much centered in the merchant's district, ranging from only a broken window, to items broken or missing, being found a few blocks away. After what happened in the hovel though, not a lot of people were willingly going to EIRAL for help.
Which was lucky for Amon, since it was his job to keep the peace in the merchant's district anyways and EIRAL has done enough as it was.
Strangely, despite his security system in the district, he has never caught the culprit. It didn't help that the attacks were beyond sporadic; random being a complete understatement. As much as he wanted to blame it on Danny Ravensdale and her guild, she did say she'd let him know if something came up. Besides, with what recently happened in his newest recruit's, Wern's, shop, he would rather yell at Danny than prove his gut instinct right.
---
With a sigh, Amon got up from behind the counter and walked towards the front of the store, observing the crowds from behind the window, no sign of dying down even with sunset just a few minutes away. It was the third day now; despite doing his best to quiet down the ruckus, the gossip was starting to spread and get louder. If he didn't figure this out soon, EIRAL was going to get involved, and heads would probably roll.
Literally.
He was staring into space, muddling over some thoughts, when he felt a strange sensation going through his arm. He thought nothing of it at first; there were plenty of Anders that go through the district and even his shop from time to time.
Problem was though, there was a solitary man passing by, in a break in the crowd. The man was a bit of a regular in the district; quite the nice guy though he was looking rather haggard at the moment. And more importantly, he was human.
Amon rushed out of the shop, but by the time he came out, the crowd surged and he lost the man in the crowd.
Now what?
