Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"Shuttup! Let me have this!" Alice glared at Kalum when he said he always pays anyways. She just couldn't win... Alice got quiet as Kalum talked about their parents before nodding once in reply. "I know... I know they don't hate me. But they'll try to stop me from coming back here. Especially Papa... he'd always get so angry when I was tinkering. Do you remember the first time I showed him something I'd made? That little butterfly that carried the little pink light? I don't think I'd ever seen him that angry... and he'd never hit me before. But he did then, and he smashed my butterfly, and I just... he was so scary."
Alice sighed as they walked before perking up some. Nope! No unhappy thoughts here! "Do you think they'll have stuffed mushrooms too? The restaurant, I mean."

The reminder of that moment where they had seen a different side of their father was a painful one. He remembered that night well for it was the one when he'd gone out after saving enough spare coin from working as the news boy in order to by her her own little screwdriver. Without replying, he moved in to pull her into a tight hug then released her to pat her on her head. "I think they do have stuffed mushrooms," he replied and let the mentions of Bimbury go. Despite never wanting Alice to just avoid subjects, he couldn't help but not wish to bother her with this one.
"Stuffed mushrooms, spiced breads, apple cider, chowders. They typically have lots of things." Night was growing dangerously close and they needed to hurry but luckily they had already reached the theatre district and so Kalum stepped up to lead the way. The place he had in mind was not far from where they were and with a turn of a corner and a few shops down they had found themselves in front of a small shack looking structure that seemed more fitted to a place like the hovel. Despite the outer appearance, the inside was rather lavishing and done up with a theme of water. To one side was a wall with water streaming from the top to a pool beneath. Elsewhere was a fountain with six tables on either side of it.
"Hello, sir and miss. We will be closing soon due to curfew but for those who wish to forgo the curfews hours, we do have private hours in which one of our guestrooms can be accessed." Kalum had to wonder where the heck they even kept a guessed room though he supposed it might have been the larger area somewhere in the back since it was closed off. "No, we'll leave after eating. We have papers, thank you. Unless Alice would like to stay?" He looked to the girl then.

When the two of them stepped in, Alice looked around the building curiously. "Ooooo, fancy." She wandered over to the water spout for the pool and flicked her fingers into the water. Then she heard her name. "Hmm? Yes, sure. Let's do that." Alice turned back to the hostess and Kalum and looked between the two curiously. "Oh! Right, no. I think we'll be going after dinner... probably."
Alice followed the hostess to a table and sat down. Good, the wood wouldn't leave splinters in her thighs. She looked to the hostess and smiled at her before answering the woman's question about something to drink. "Water and a glass of Lambrusco, please." She looked to Kalum and waited for his reply.

The older brother had to sigh when his sister first answered. Of course she wasn't listening but other than sighing and rolling his eyes, he did not chastise her since she replied with a proper answer after. "Thank you," he told the woman as they were seated and then looked to Alice with raised brows as she ordered a wine. Alcoholic beverages were never his fancy and wines were never as sweet as people declared so he hated them for their deceptiveness. How dare they claim they were sweet when there was not even a pinch of what he would qualify as sweet enough.
"I will have water, if you would, please." With a light bow, the woman retreated to go gather the drinks for the two after setting their menus before them. Kalum seized his rolled up silverware and undid the tie carefully before unrolling the cloth to set the silverware onto the table then smoothed the cloth out over his laps. "Right then. Chowder, stuffed mushrooms, what else did you want?"

Alice looked over the menu and let out a small 'hmmmmm'. "How about this?" She pointed to something the menu had listed as a 'serpent's stone'. "It looks good... egg, chicken, rice, all packed into a smooth dumpling and glazed with a maple sauce? Wanna try it?" Alice continued looking through the menu as she spoke. "Oh! How about this! They've got a baked potato filled with ham, cheese, apple, and green onions. That'd probably be good too..."
Alice abruptly sat up straight and looked at Kalum. "What do you want? I'm getting the corn risotto chowder."

He was sold at maple syrup but nodded along to the other things he showed her. "You are set on your chowder, aren't you? I think I'll get that first item you mentioned, the serpent's stone was it?" Another woman approached their table with their drinks and greeted them before inquiring on their order. Kalum would let Alice go first before making his own order. "Can I get the serpent's stone, please? Oh, and might I trouble you for three extra sides of the maple syrup? I do not mind if it is an extra charge. Perfect, thank you." He closed his menu and gathered both his and Alice's before giving them back to the woman who then left with their requests. "...I forgot to ask for some coffee and sugar. When she comes back," he mused quietly. "What do you think so far, Alice?"

"I think you need to cut back on the sweets. You're going to kill yourself if you keep going at the rate you are." Alice picked up her glass of lambrusco and took a small sip before swishing it around on her palate. "If you're talking about the restaurant as a whole? I think I like it so far, but we'll know more once the food gets here." Alice set her glass down and looked around the room. "It really is dead in here, isn't it? I guess that's because of Martial Law." Alice rested her elbows on the table and held her cheeks in her palms. "What about you? What do you think?"

"I'm not going to die just because I like a pinch of sugar with my coffee, Alice." Clearly, he was avoiding the subject of his actual problematic situation of consuming too much sugar. "And aye, I meant the restaurant. Because of martial law it is dead yet. I hope we catch whoever it was that blew up the barracks and soon but I doubt it. These things never blow over quickly. I liked this place when I came here once before but that was during the day and they had something like a salmon bistro." He gave a shrug of his shoulders. "I imagine the other room has more people in it."

Alice leaned forward and pinched Kalum's cheek between her index finger and thumb. "That's a pinch, what you use is a mountain." Alice settled back in her seat and sighed when Kalum said things never blow over quickly. Salmon... not her favorite. She grinned at Kalum when he mentioned the other room would probably have more people. "Wanna go see? Just take a quick peek inside and see what's happening?" Alice got halfway out of her seat while she waited for Kalum's reply.

The brother furrowed his brows and then lifted one as he watched his sister lean over though once she pinched his cheek his brows fell and his expression went blank. He made a move to swat her hand away but she was already retreating by the time he lifted his hand. "What I use is only a pinch. It would be physically impossible for me to consume anything the size of a mountain, Aly." While they waited for their food, he folded his arms over the table then lifted a hand to prop his chin on his palm and sighed though at Alice's proposal he spared a glance at the entrance to the other room. The huntsman hadn't even had a chance to think of an answer when Alice was already up and so without much argument, he stood to follow.
The other room was dimly lit and housed a small stage with tables and seats on the floor surrounding. In one corner was a set of stairs that disappeared behind a wall and presumably led to what was set up for those who got too tired as some places had seen to doing. Nothing currently was going on the stage but instruments were set up and a make was centered between everything. From the stage extended a runway of sorts. Several handfuls of people had already acquired seats near the stage and it left Kalum wondering how this all fit in what looked like a shack outside.

Alice wandered over and peered into the room with Kalum. She let out a disappointed sigh when there wasn't anything fantastic going on at the moment. She looked at Kalum and shook her head. "I'm pretty sure you'd figure out a way to eat a mountain of sugar..." She sighed at the stage once more before turning and heading back to their table. "Have you met anyone interesting lately? I mean outside of work... I don't think there's an interesting soul in that place."

Kalum was intrigued by the setup and so lingered for a moment but then shot a glance back at Alice when he noticed her retreat. "I would not. There's enough and then there is too much, Alice. If you have too much of something then it is not good enough anymore," He replied with a nod, adamant to deny such accusations of eating a mountain worth of sugar--though he did suppose that if for a reason that should a mountain of sugar appear before him he would not let it go to waste. "I met a doctor who showed me some of the city--she wears a bird mask and has a pet vulture who is quite... interesting. I have already told you of the scarred man I work with in the military. Truly, that is all thus far. What of you? Who else have you met aside from that noble lad and the pirate?" Who he was still intent on breaking the jaw of if he so much as looked at his sister wrong.

Alice shook her head with an exasperated sigh. "And you don't know when enough is enough for sugar, Kalum." She dropped back into her seat and listened to Kalum's new acquaintances. There it is... he was asking her about people she knew. Whoops. Alice looked anywhere in the room but at Kalum as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Uhm... well... I met..." Alice let out a defeated sigh. "No. Nobody new... I just haven't had time! The city's such a wealth of information and there's so much I can learn just by watching stuff as it works that I haven't really gone out to just meet people."

"I know perfectly well when I have had enough sugar," he claimed though he knew and she knew that they both knew that was often when he'd already had far too much and was groveling ill from the abundance of it all. Her response to meeting no one else knew was not surprising though this time Kalum could not blame her. The people within the city were far less open and there was just so much for her to see. "That is quite alright. How about telling me about some of the interesting things you have seen within the city thus far? I am certain you have to have some stories to share?" Any moment longer and food would be on the way, or so he hoped. The raven haired man hadn't realized how hungry he really was until the smell of food of another table passed by them.
Alice looked at Kalum with an expression that said that she knew that he knew that she knew that he knew that they both knew when he thought enough sugar was enough. But she dropped her pushing all the same. Alice shuffled in her seat and rested her hands in her lap. "Well, I already told you about the rockets. Oh! Did you know there used to be a giant clock tower? It apparently got too old and crumbled or got blown up or something. It's so sad that something like that could just be... gone." Alice sighed and rested her chin on the table. "When we go back to Bimbury, it should be for the fair."
