Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to all in the theatre district. Special invitation to Medivha
Being in the city was far different than the countryside Kalum had grown and lived in all his life. Being surrounded by so many in such a closed space almost made him feel like he was trapped though he pressed on through the streets to explore the new wonders that awaited him. Undoubtedly, he should have been taking the chance to see all of the various sights with his sister, but she was no where to be found in the early morning, undoubtedly busy looking at the wondrous tech that seemed to consume the city here and there.
Eventually he found himself in the theatre district and his eyes scanned up toward the large buildings surrounding the area. Up in the distance, he could see a spot of brown to which he assumed must have been Cara. Someone shoved at his back then and yelled at him to keep moving since he'd stopped in the middle of the way. A small scowl spread over his features as he looked to the person who then shied away when they saw the bow he carried. Carefully, the raven haired man waded through the crowd to look into the shops.
"Well, that was eventful. how was your people watching out here?" The young woman hummed, delighting in the notes in her hand. She'd won quite the hansom amount of money from just an hour or two of poker, but couldn't stay too long thanks to a certain vulture waiting for her outside. Stuffing the wad of notes down her top rather unceremoniously, the bird masked woman glanced down by her feet as she walked, chuckling softly at the beautiful bearded vulture following after her by her feet. He liked to do this now and then, walk after her like he was a human too, but the crowded area's of the theatre district were no place for an 8 kilo bird to be walking around in.
"Lurch up." she called, holding her left arm up for the pile of feathers to jump onto, which he did so immediately with a little help, and slap in the face by a wing on her end. "Oi oi bone breath, watch where you're flapping!" she snapped halfheartedly, her tone contradicting the loving fluffing of feathers she bestowed upon the bird as lurch himself seemed to act bashful and duck his face into his chest feathers.

Nothing seemed to catch his attention in any of the shops except for sweets but he had to remind himself that he was on the hunt for something for Alice and that he couldn't dally too much for he wouldn't be able to see much of the city. With a soft sigh, the country boy turned away from the windows of the current shop he'd been looking into only to nearly walk into someone else. Right, in the city, he'd have to remember that it was much more packed than his little town of Bimbury and that he'd need to maintain awareness rather than letting himself drift so carelessly as that was rather unlike him. Perhaps he was just excited by all the unfamiliar things that flooded his sense. For instance, the smell he was a lot less fresh though oddly sweet in this district where the hovel smelt like piss and dung. Everything was a lot more colorful--and was that a bird? His exhausted gaze fell on the woman he'd nearly bumped into and the bird on her arm. "Pardon" he murmured softly though with the deepness of his voice, it still carried over. Kalum let his linger on her only briefly before eyeing the bird, happy that Caracalla stayed up in the sky since although she was well trained, she was still a predator.
The reason why Vieka typically didn't go out during the day was because of the influx of people. crowded streets were not her thing, not the throngs of nosy people, not the pushing and certainly not the noise, but the biggest problem was the bird on her arm. She tried to get out the house without him, but there was no way that her best friend was letting her out of his sight after being stuck in her old mans home for so long, not when he knew so many people were lurking outside. so many males.
So, why is this currently a problem? well....
Squawk!!!
There were lots of people in the streets, specifically a lot of males, and poor ol' Kalum happened to be one who got just a little too close for comfort. "No Lurch!" The brunette snapped, her hands immediately grappling the leather tassels tied to his feet as the large bird of prey went to attack the young hunter. The vulture didn't get far, but the racket he made and the raging of feathers was enough for most people to clear a space around the area.

Kalum's brows shot up and he took a step back into the shop window as the bird came lunging. He'd brought up his left hand, dressed with his falconer's glove though lowered it when the bird didn't reach him. A rather crude word left his mouth then as another squawk--though in actuality it was more of a screech than anything--rang loudly. For the woman's sake, he tried to shove her and her bird aside as Caracalla descended with every intent on aiding the hunter. Her talon's instead sunk into the glove and immediately he grabbed her to hug to him to his person. With the bird subdued, he heaved a sigh and looked to Vieka. "You alright?"
The eagle didn't seem all too happy in her restraint and she made that known by pecking at his fingers. Releasing the bird, he shot her a nasty glare then cocked his head to the side as she came to perch herself with one talon on his shoulder and the other against his head. "Pardon, I did not mean to lay hands on you like that," he spoke to Vieka while waving a hand at the massive eagle who was now tugging at locks of his hair.
Balance thrown off, her stumble loosened her grip on the vulture as he went to attack again, now pissed that not only had a male tried to land his claws on his wife but his dumb excuse for a bird tried attacking them as well. To her credit, she managed to both stumble out the way of an oncoming eagle attack thanks to the strange male and also wrap her leather clad hands around Lurch, essentially tackling an 8 kilo bird to the ground. "Drattit i said no bone breath! behave!" The woman growled, scooping him up and taking several pecks to her own beaked face as lurch struggled in her grip.
Calmed, even with the avian still making a fuss, Vieka redirected her gaze to the other bird companion, admiring the golden eagle on his shoulder. "Your bird, i take it?" was her only response, although she was promptly received a wing slap in the face. "Oh for the love of seven hells-"

What a horrible nightmare this ended up. Just when he'd thought Cara had settled for remaining a pest, she'd been riled up by the vulture coming back for her mate. With a screech, she lunged off of the hunter's shoulder, wings spread and claws out but like Vieka, Kalum was quick to snag her and yank her back to him to wrestle with the bird as she flapped, pecked and screeched. Throughout the duration of this spectacle, people seemed to have cleared the way more so than before and now watched in amusement at the struggling owners and their birds.
After seizing the golden eagle, he tucked her under his arms and she craned her head to peer back up at him before screeching in dissatisfaction. "Yes," he heaved a sigh as he looked to Vieka then back to his bird. "Up," he cast a glance toward the sky then back down at the feathered beast before tossing her up into the air. She took to the throw easily, spreading her wide spanned wings to catch the air and circle about overhead. "I take it he sees you as his mate? I would offer you a hand up but I feel that would further antagonize him." A small frown graced his features as he looked from the masked woman to the bird. He'd seen masks like those before when sickness swept through the countryside years ago. Doctors wore them to prevent themselves from catching the illness. Did that make her one? His lips pressed into a thin line as he studied the vulture. The bird as beautiful no doubt... large as well. He cast an uncertain glance up at his eagle hoping she would listen for once but knew such a thought was fruitless. Predators didn't listen to anything but instinct.
"Who knows, stupid feather head does what he pleases" She sighed, managing to pin the avian's wings to his body as she did some awkward maneuvering to get herself onto her feet again, stumbling slightly as she did, Lurch tucked underneath her arm with the blasted bird pecking at her thankfully gloved fingers. She'd probably have sent up her own bird, but with a golden eagle up there as well that didn't seem like such a good idea.
"The offer is... appreciated, though unneeded." She murmured awkwardly. Considering he's had a bearded vulture attack and is seemingly fine with it, the least she could be is cordial, although it really didn't sit that well with her.

A curt nod was given in response to her words and again he sent a glance up at the bird to make sure she would keep her place up and far away from himself, the stranger, and her bird. With a gentle exhale through his nose, he lowered his tired gaze once more and remained silent until he recalled that he'd likely have to talk more since the city was different than the country. Normally, this is where he would part ways with a stranger n Bimbury, but this wasn't Bimbury. The raven haired man sucked in a small breath then cleared his throat and made a quick scan of those gathered. They seemed to grasp that the two people had managed their birds and that they should be on their way because now the crowd slowly began to shuffle once more.
"Where might I find someplace that sells supplies for machinery? I am new to the city." Despite having almost ran into her and upsetting her vulture, he hoped that she'd be able to assist him. A screech could be heard from the eagle once more which drew Kalum's attention though rather than seeing her dive for them as he'd expected, he saw her flapping away. Whatever she as after, he could be certain she'd find him later. She always did.
So he annoys her bird, shoves her, lets his own bird go for hers, and then asks for help? quite honestly, Vieka just planned on shuffling on and going home with the promise to herself to never go out before 6 o'clock, free time be damned. Still, she supposed technically, Lurch had been the first one to attack, and no one actually got hurt....
Clicking her tongue, the young doctor let her avian clamber back onto her arm, giving him one warning glance to which the vulture merely ignored her and started clawing his way up to her shoulder, fluffing up and placing his wings around her slightly while giving the other male the evils and off balancing her. Leaning to one side slightly and cringing as his blasted claws dug into her skin through the material of her coat, she gestured with her head before beginning to walk. "Fine. If you're after mechanical supplies you're in the wrong district all together. You'd be better off checking the merchants streets. I'm going that way anyway, follow if you want. Or don't." She muttered irritably, trying to keep the stubborn feather ball on her shoulder from falling off by keeping one hand on his side. "I don't really care."

The hunter was quickly beginning to learn that people in the city were far less... tame than country folk. Sure there was the occasional farmer who was rather reclusive and therefore rougher to deal with but the city was something else. What had he gotten himself into? As he eyed the woman's back, he debated his options. He could either follow her and further embarrass himself or her, or he could simply find his own way. With a soft sigh the man moved after her though with leisure strides as he was in no hurry to be at her side or bother making conversation. For Alice he was going to risk the shot of that vulture coming for him when his strides eventually caught up with the short woman. He never said a word as he followed her along though occasionally he eyed Lurch in order to prepare himself in case bird tried another attack.
For a while she thought he didn't follow, but eventually she noticed his figure beside her, his longer legs taking carefree strides compared to the shorter quicker steps she had to make. from the corner of her tinted lenses, she can see him eyeing the bird scrambling on her shoulder warily, and against her will a soft chuckle parts from her lips. "Just don't get too close. He won't attack you as long as you keep a reasonable distance." She states, using a few gloved fingers to scratch said attack birds head fondly as Lurch cooed and adjusted his claws into her shoulder. It was uncomfortable as hell, but something she'd gotten used to by this point.

"Aye," he replied softly and looked forward once more. "I cannot blame him for being as he is. It was my fault in the beginning. I did nearly run into you, pardon me for that earlier." He apologized earlier but he wasn't a very good conversationalist. Clearing his throat softly, he spoke up again to try and force himself into conversing, "I am Kalum, miss. May I inquire of your name?"
Technically it was her fault for being stupid enough to walk around the city during the day, something she usually wouldn't do for this very reason, but she didn't bother saying this out loud, just as she didn't bother denying him either; Vieka merely dipped her head slightly in a nod, deciding that if he was going to apologize, perhaps he wasn't all bad, or at the very least, not as annoying as she originally thought him to be. "My name is Vieka, although i suppose you can call me what you like, i don't really care." as long as it wasn't Arthuria. She hated it when people called her by that name name, although the chances of him learning it were far and few between so she shouldn't let the thought bother her. stupid Richard grumble grumble.

"Vieka," the name came from his lips slowly as though he were trying to feel how it sounded in his mouth. His brows furrowed over the bridge of his nose as he lingered on the pronunciation then let his brows rise once more after he'd reflected enough on it. Her name was an odd name he'd never heard but that was likely because of his origin of having come from the country. There were already many things different from the city verse his hometown. One thing he noticed was the amount of piercings, tattoo and -color- people harbored on their person. Never did he see so much color. Still, her name drew a soft smile from him and although he kept his eyes ahead of him to see where they were going, he softly remarked, "that is a unique and beautiful name. Despite our initial meet, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Vieka."
