OPEN FOR CAEsAL AND MI - special invitation to Danny Ravensdale , Lasair Landevier Lupen and Stephen Leland
Trial for Basil Spyros , Inie Abel , Jayce , Emelo and Leo Halvorsen
Everything was ready on their side. With the exit so near, but still held ajar at her back, Edelweiss raised a hand in a silent motion for the other hooded figures behind her to turn off the simple mercury lamp that illuminated the place and everything was shrouded in darkness. The veterans stood hidden where the faint light from outside couldn't reach, but having a nice view of how it put the soon-to be trialed newbies in the spotlight. The two newbies were kept awake during their walk here rather than knocked unconscious as would have been more usual, but they were still blindfolded till getting close to the door and still currently had their wrists tied on the back.
It was much like the stuffy dark cellar where their assassin trials usually started, but that long corridor was much older and deeper than that. One of the old passageways that crossed the city from underground, lost from view, sparely used even by the very assassins nowadays. But tonight it would be needed, and they'd be receiving in visitors that albeit in a guild were not one of their own.
The exit 'door' was stone, part of the lateral wall of a low building they didn't care for today but that was conveniently close to the dock warehouses.
Their code had been explained on the way there: the ones being trialed were seen by CAEsAL while doing something that either impressed or angered them, which meant they were no innocent flowers. Pass the trial and join the CAEsAL assassins, fail and get killed for it. The only 3 rules to abide by: Do not blow your cover, do not compromise the association, do not shed blood without reason.
Their targets tonight were warehouse guards, who took the 'hobby' of passing by the hovel in their free hours and have their twisted fun with the poor kids who lived there.
"Everyone's here. Lets recap: MI will be joining us tonight for a trial of their own, and we'll be cooperating. We're allied but not merging, I repeat, we are not merging. Keep those hoods and codenames up, as long as we won't be seeing their members faces you'll do well in not showing yours. As for our two newcomers, you'll be referred to A and B until your trial is finished; if you pass you'll get official codenames."
Some nodded, but the action would remain unseen. Besides the hoods half of the ones present had taken extra measures to hide their own faces more than usual - high collars, scarves, shawls, googles, glasses, hats, etc.
"This trial will be these newbies' initiation into our guild, but also a nice chance to test how well we can work together with MI. We want those two infanticides out of the living realm and MI wants the wares our targets guard: we kill, they steal, both of us transport. Any doubts?"
There weren't any.
"Good. Untie them and we'll head out to meet the others."
