Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"Hmmm..." Those didn't seem like bad ways to pass time. She enjoyed most of those things too, depending on her mood. Still, those were all 'outside activities'. "What about sitting with someone and reading a book?" Or anything else quiet, with someone close to him? Just for company and maybe a little chatting, and no system-altering substances. It did good as well sometimes, when one's thoughts were louder than usual. Tranquil things and voices helped calm herself too, at the very least, though she wasn't sure if it'd be the same for him. It just made her curious.

When he heard her suggestion, he tilted his head in slight confusion. That kind of interaction was just sort of, not his style. To put it nicely. Being alone with someone could lead to some undesirable things and the best way to prevent that was to simply not be alone with them.
With the absinthe clouding his mind slightly, he couldn’t quite come up with the perfect reply to her, but something close would have to do. “Nah, the people I hang with aren’t into that stuff.” It worked. Kept the blame off of him. A safe move, at least that’s what he thought. Shy people usually didn’t turn up in the places he hung around, after all.

The face her ginger companion pulled at her question spelled a string of uninterrupted "NOPEs" so intense Edelweiss couldn't help but snicker at it. Not one for quiet activities, huh. Maybe there really is something to make him scared of being left alone with his thoughts, but this wasn't the place nor time to pry deeper on that. He did give a good excuse for it too, while only considering the words... Just... that face. That face. One would have to be cruel to expect her not to laugh a bit.
"Most people you hang with." She corrected, amusedly pointing at her own face. "Well, your 'turn' again. Anything you want to ask me?"

She was laughing at him. Why was she laughing at him? For a second, that was going to be the question that he asked, but then he thought better of it, biting his tongue momentarily instead. Then an actual question came to mind. “What would you do if your loverboy flew the coup, disappearing somewhere only to leave you behind?” No one said the question had to be happy. It was an honest question, and one he had wondered at himself many times. There were lots of people, countless people even, who he had placed on a pedestal on top of the world. But then in the blink of an eye he was gone. He always wondered at how they must feel to realize he’s gone, but he had never been the one deserted to learn that for himself.

"Hm..." It was a valid question, but she needed a moment to think of how to reply until settling with something.
"Might happen. And probably will." All people were gone soon or later, in varied manners. It was a rule of life, in a way, at least to her. What to do in that specific case though... she distractedly twirled the drink in her hand for a second, then took a moment to finish it and place the empty glass on the table. Fitting metaphor. "It depends on the reason, but... I'd go for a walk, then home. Take a long shower, eat something sweet. Probably have a minute doing something stupid, like accidentaly burning myself with hot tea. Sleep. And when the sun is up again, wear my work face and go face the morn."

Her answer surprised him. That simple? That direct? And she even knew the series of events, even spoke of them as if had prior experience. It took him a moment to realize she probably did have the experience. The thought saddened him a bit. “You just get up and keep going, huh? Life doesn’t stop just because someone stepped out, after all. That’s not the answer I’d expect to hear from anyone else in this place. Most people would at least take some time to themselves, maybe even some time off work.” He left it at that, giving her the opportunity to continue on this track or start a new one. The effects of the drink should be starting to show soon as well. It was only a matter of time now.

"There are times when I wish I could take some indefinite time from work, but it's not that simple. There are also people who depend on me there, I don't have the right to leave them just because someone left me, whoever it may be." She shrugged. It was true, and also... "Sometimes it's good to have something weighing you down, if only to keep you from being swept away."
She passed a finger around the border of her empty drink. Hopefully, if this is enough to give her a little trip intro drunkenland, she at least wouldn't be forgetting what she's saying. In this case, forgetting was a bad idea. "What about you? If someone you hold dear is gone..."

Her reasons were valid, although he was not sure if he agreed with them. But they made sense, so he didn’t question them.
When the question was directed back at him, he shrugged. “Be sad for a while. Spend time at home, with my parents, as opposed to out in the city. After a day or two I’d get over it and head back out.” It was simple, although there were not a whole lot of people he held dearly. The situation probably wouldn’t come up, but thinking about the possibility wouldn’t hurt.
“New topic. Favorite thing to do for fun, especially when with some liquid courage.” He tapped his glass, smiling at her as he waited to hear her answer.

She let out a short laugh. "Just so you know, I try to never get drunk enough to do anything I'd not do while sober. But my favorite thing for fun depends on my mood; it can vary from just watching the crowds, anything with music or eating free stuff at parties."

“Well, what would you like to do for fun right now? Sitting here talking about ‘what ifs’ is great and all, but I’m craving something a little more active.” He continued to grin at her, wondering about what sort of activity she would come up with.

"Do you dance, Las?" She asked, retributting his grin with a smile of her own. He didn't seem the type to have been born with two left feet, but sometimes drinking took a toll on people's skills on the dancefloor. "Or we could play a little game."

His mind immediately brought up memories of Vieka, and that time she tried teaching him to dance. It made him laugh a little, but only just a little. “Nah, dancing isn’t on my list of talents. But I like games. What did you have in mind?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. His cheeks felt flushed and he couldn’t tell if he was or wasn’t smiling anymore. He was probably still smiling, but why didn’t it feel like it? An interesting question indeed.

"Hmm..." Edelweiss looked around to check what other kind of people was there in the stabilishment along them, then turned back to focus in Lasair. "I remember you mentioning in the first time we met that you liked to watch people and their reactions, so how about something with deductions... Choose someone around and I'll guess a couple things about then, then choose someone for your turn. Like, for example, that guy over there by the counter - he's at his second bottle now and had a quarrel with his wife before coming here."

Aw. He had been hoping for a more involved game. Plus he had strong liquor in his system. While it wasn’t impossible to use his mind for things, it required more work and wasn’t as fun as, say, a coin bouncing game. But he couldn’t say no to her request, and if she wanted to see him struggle to wake up his brain cells, so be it.
At least he didn’t have to go first. Glancing around, he settled on an older looking lady, probably late thirties, who was sitting next to a man looking more towards the early twenties. She had a beer bottle in her hand and was laughing a lot more than the guy next to her. Gesturing toward her direction he said, “Her, the one laughing.”
