Open to Lasair Landevier Lupen
Several nights had passed since the mechanics adventure in the clock tower with a certain red haired ander. Viktor met many people and often enough though few he ever hit it off with so well. In fact, most people he met tended to have an urge to want to beat the life out of him. What bothered the mechanic, however, was the fact that the magic toting red head kept gnawing at the back of his mind making any efforts to work more difficult than it should have been. He tried drafting out blue prints for new work orders first and that ended up with him sketching loose, messy portraits. Whenever he caught NK-5 looking, he'd cover it or crumple it and return back to work with the faintest of red in his cheeks.
Several times, NK-5 inquired on what he was doing or why he reacted the way he did but each time Viktor derailed from the topic. After his poor attempts at working on the drafts, he'd tried mindless tinkering and even that proved to be fruitless. With a heavy sigh of annoyance, the mechanic toyed with the lip ring by pushing it around with his tongue, pushed himself away from his table, stood, and made his way up stairs where he found NK-5 huddled on the floor with many books scattered around him. "I'm going out for a bit. A couple of days. Maybe a day? Don't bother looking."
"For you to be separated from me is unwise--"
"I'm not going anywhere dangerous. I'm just going to spend some time with a friend outside of the city in isolation."
"Isolation is when one is by themselves, no?"
"Well, yes, we'll be by ourselves."
"I do not approve, but I believe any efforts to stop you will be fruitless."
"Now you're getting it, Nikolai."
"I do not understand why I cannot partake in your adventure."
"...Because. You make it harder to be intimate."
"What is intimacy and how does my presence intrude on that?"
"Go find that one kid... what was his name..."
"Danny?" Ah, yes, Danny Ravensdale. NK-5 was quite fond of that boy--well, as fond as a nonliving thing could be.
"Yes, he likes answering your questions." As they spoke, Viktor had been packing a small satchel with some spare clothe and extra money. When he was through, he straightened and looked over to NK-5 for a moment before approaching him. "Look, Nikolai, I like that you are around and I appreciate what you do for me, but there are times it's okay that you are not there. I have to go. I'll be back later and when I come back I'll bring you some new books, promise. See you later." Viktor departed shortly after leaving behind a rather confused construct.
The jewelry store he recalled from the previous night wasn't too far down and he came across it in a matter of moments. The mechanic paused just outside to peer up at the structure to be sure it was right before lowering his gaze at the window. With mild hesitance, he stepped forward then willed himself to step through the door in search of Lasair. "Lassy? Are you here?" Was he even allowed to call him that? "Lasair?"
