Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Jak's only dA RP saves (Jak's semi-trial, Jak & Cait forest)
* Jakobi Frost I've discovered the rest of the first one you posted - in the chronology under the name 'things that go BOO'
<Law-of-Murph> Jak let out a deep sigh of relief. He tottered closer, and peered into the cave opening. It only looked a bit damp.
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: hearing a faint hello, and footsteps sheepishly whispered back " H- hullo?" as he stood up from behind the large rock he was hiding behind.
<Comical1> Caitlin: She gave a bit of a startled gasp, but more in surprise than fear. "Is someone in there?" She asked, but this time she didn't hoover outside the entrance, she walked right in, reaching back one hand to snag hold of Jak if she could and drag him in as backup
<Law-of-Murph> Jak coughed as Caitlin dragged him into the cave by his scarf. He strained his eyes, trying to see who it was in the cave. At least the voice was human, and didn't sound as if they would jump out and attack them.
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: reached out infront of himself, and started stumbling towards where he heard the cough. "I-I" he tripped, caught himself and stood up, rock in hand."I have a rock,a-and I'm not afraid to use it!"
<Comical1> Caitlin: She raised an eyebrow, though no one could see it. Then she laughed, quietly, cause she didn't want to attract any newcomers to the cave. Three was already enough for this small space. She thought she could make out the form huddled close to a bundle of knarled roots half hanging in the air of the cave, the other half burried in the packed dirt that made up the walls. "I like what you've done with the place," she chirped toward the unseen resident. Her voice lost its earlier fear and she sounded carefree. The failed attempt at a threat with the rock was completely lost on her. She was the queen of rogues after all, a pirate at the very least, so rocks she could handle.
<Law-of-Murph> Jakshifted, wondering whether the figure really would use the rock or not. "We....we aren't going to hurt you. Or take your cave. We just want to hide here a bit."
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: "what? I-- this isn't my cave..Jak? Is that you?" He atempted to scratch his head , and in the process clonked himself with the rock. "ow"
<Comical1> Caitlin: It seemed that these two at least knew each other. The friend of my friend is my friend... and besides, right about now they all three had something in comon: whatever was lurking outside, they each wanted to avoid. Taking her cue from Jak, she said "Would it be alright if we hid out in here with you for a while?"
<Law-of-Murph> Jak suddenly realised that if Connor was hiding in here (and he was sure now that was Connor's voice) then he probably saw that creature out there. Jak walked forward a little. "Did you se that....thing? The shadow thing? Do you know at all what it is?"
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: "you sure can stay here! And what shadow thing..." he looked at Jak with bewilderment "It sounds scary."
<Comical1> Caitlin: her fingers ached, and now that the adrenaline rush was over, she remembered how badly they hurt. For no good reason she held them in front of her face and blew on the fingertips as if that would do anything really. In between puffs of breath, she contributed a few things to the conversation. "They howl at the moon, growl at their prey..." (on the word Prey she pointed at Jak and herself) "and they are like living shadow beast somewhere between the shape of a wolf and a leopard I think.."
<Law-of-Murph> Jak nodded, shivering at the thought of them. "And they're fast, too. Seem to just seep right out of the shadows themselves...."
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: "oh, gosh, now I'm all scared..." Do either of you two know where we are?" he asked hoping that they could take him out of the dark scary cave, and away from the shadow creatures.
<Comical1> Caitlin: She shook her head, then remembered noone could see her doing it. She sighed. "The only thing we know is where they're not, and that's in here. Maybe because there is no light to cast shadows, they have no shadows to crawl out of?" Her voice formed a question at the end, signifying her answer was more of a theory than a fact.
<Law-of-Murph> Jak exhaled. "Yeah....and it's far too dark out now to try an' find our way back to town...we're stuck in here, at least 'til morning."
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: Whimpered and looped his arm around Jak's. He started squeezing. " Do we really have to stay in here?"
<Comical1> Caitlin: gave up blowing on her fingers. It didn't do anything for the pain anyway. She heaved a greater sign, hearing the other two whispering to themselves. She shuffled over to the distinctly darker 'darkness' that meant there was something solid in front of her, and not just empty air. It was the twisted roots of the tree from up on the hill above them. She tugged on them experimentally. When they didn't budge, she squeezed herself between them and got comfortable like someone resting in a hammock.
<Law-of-Murph> Jak turned to Connor, though he couldn't see him. "Well, I'm 'fraid so....unless you want to take your chances with the Shadow thing."
<Zigzagoomba> Connor: whimpered, again, slumped down, and hugged Jak's leg instead. "I'm sleepy..." He rested his head also on Jak's leg.
<Comical1> Caitlin: hearing the very mention of sleepy made Cait realize how tired she truly was. Hanging in her make-shift hammock, she rocked in the freehanging tree roots till she fell, fast asleep.
<Law-of-Murph> Jak, seeing the other going to sleep, shook Connor off his leg and stumbled over the a more mossy corner of the cave, curled up, and started to drift off to sleep himself.
