Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Jakobi Frost firstly as well Danny Ravensdale if he would like to join Lasair stood outside the front doors of the HQ building, staring out into the forest surrounding it. It was odd how, despite having witnessed a shadow beast attack first hand (and an attack on his brother no less) he still found himself coming back out here, finding an odd sort of comfort while among the trees. They allowed him to feel closer to his brother in a way, a type of closeness that really didn’t have any comparisons.
And yet, he still didn’t know much about the shadow beasts. He respected them yes, but from a distance, never having actually encountered one before. Funny, right? A member of MI who spends all his time in or around the woods and he’s never seen one of the beasts that calls it home. The second in command wasn’t sure how he felt about the revelation, but he pondered it, wondering just what it would be like to venture out there. He could never go alone, not like Danny who practically lived out there, because despite having read the books and memorized the “How NOT to die” guide, he was still scared.
He turned around, going to sit on one of the front steps to the building, and continued to gaze out into the forest.
Jak's hand extended onto Lasair's shoulder. He'd come out through the doors just as Lasair turned around, cheerful (as usual) that there was someone else at the HQ. "Whatcha doin' there?" he grinned and leaned in, his other hand rustling in his pocket, most likely searching in vain for leftover sweets. He miraculously manages to bring out a shabby looking chunk of marzipan, shrugged, and popped it in his mouth, settling down beside Lasair without waiting for an answer. "Nice day for a stroll wouldn't you say?" he swung his leg and smiled slyly. "The forest is nice in weather like this. Care to come with me?" he gestured towards the woods. "You look like you need something to do, and honest, the forest's never boring." Jak chuckled. "Could be fun, yeh?"

His head snapped in the direction the hand had come from, face softening from troubled thoughts to a pleasant smile. “Hey Jakobi, nice to see you back again.” The previous leader had a habit of disappearing, unable to be found for days on end. But he was here and when summoned, he came.
“The forest?” he asked, looking away from the scarred man and back towards the trees. His mouth decided to answer before his mind could try to talk him out of it. “Sure. Let’s go.” He stood up, rolling his shoulders before walking off the steps and then turning back to Jak, offering his hand with a grin. “Shall we?”
Jak cracked his knuckles and followed after Lasair, breathing in the fresh air and smirking a little bit. "Nice to see you here, usually this place is fairly empty, even now after I've come back. What brought ya to headquarters?" As they started strolling into the forest, Jak snapped a thin branch off a nearby tree and started swishing it in front of him playfully.

Smiling back at the man, Lasair walked along, wary of the forest but also trying to enjoy it. “It’s a pretty big building; sometimes I’ve run into a whole group of people at once, other times it’s been just me. I like to come here from time to time. Think about life. Work on some research.” He shrugged, watching the stick as it was waved around. “How bout you?”
Jak chuckled. "It's somewhere warm and safe to sleep." he shrugged, smacking the twig at a trunk they passed, a few tiny pieces of bark and moss falling loose to the ground. "Somewhere I can go to think, to not need to hide. Be in peace. I'm sure you know what I mean." He laughed halfheartedly, and continued to smile. As they plodded along, the trees began to get thicker and more dense, the path fainter and harder to identify. The trees closed in around them and the branches looming over their heads gradually blocking out more and more sunlight seemingly shifted into more gnarled, twisted, ominous forms. The deeper they went with each step, the more the forest itself seemed to come alive, and warn anyone who trespassed to turn back. Of course, Jak didn't.

Lasair nodded along. “I know exactly what you mean. Not to mention that the place has just about everything too. Did you know there was a kitchen? Fully stocked pantry and everything. I still can’t believe it and I walked in there.” As the darkness descended, the red haired ander began to feel a little nervous, but it wasn’t so much to make him turn around and flee. At least not yet. “Is it always this eerie?” he asked, glancing in the direction of any noise that could be heard. Meanwhile Jak was still carefree, not even showing a hint of worry. It reassured Lasair a little, but not a whole lot. What if something bad was coming?
Jak flashed a grin at Lasair. "Well, o'course. Kitchen's my favourite part." He continued grinning until he smacked into a tree and staggered back, winded. He stood for a moment and gingerly rubbed his torso where it made contact with the trunk, and laughed nervously. Jak glanced around at the dubious woods closing in around them both. "Er.......yeh, I suppose it is. Just so long as we don't disturb anything that might belong to beasties, we'll be 'right." He shot a look down at his feet and noticed some large impressions in the soil, like tracks, but much larger. He stared at it for a few seconds before looking back up at Lasair and making one short, clipped, high-pitched laugh.

“You okay there?” he asked with a small laugh, which was then lost as the darkness of the location descended once more. As Jak continued talking, Lasair found himself looking up at the tree they stood by. “What if the tree belongs to the beasties?” He was looking up, not down what Jak noticed the footprints, and leveled his gaze back towards the scarred man instead of lowering his gaze further. “Whatcha laughing at?”
Jak himself didn't quite know why, but he made the split second decision anyway. He shuffled his foot over the peat and scraped soil over the track hastily. "Nothin', really. Just, er.......best be careful, 'ey? Never know what mightn't be happy at our visiting." He shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pockets, turning around back to Lasair and the path. "Good thing we can defend ourselves." He grinned, like he thought of bumping into a shadowbeast was simply a joke or playful scuffle.

The red head nodded, looking forward. “Careful. I can do that,” he said to himself more than the other man before taking a shaky step forward. They were just out for a casual stroll in the woods. They could handle anything that came their way. This was their territory too; not just the beasts. They were fine. Other such phrases all drifted through Lasair’s mind as he forced himself to move forward, alert to every sound and slight movement.
As they continued walking, Jak whistled a small tune as went, a small skip in his step. He enjoyed the forest, even if it might not be the...safest place all of the time. He casually glanced at the small flowers and interesting leaves, pointing them out to Lasair now and again, until he spotted a perfectly round toadstool nearby on a little ledge which he immediately bent down to expect. As soon as he did, the soil beneath him gave way and with a clipped yelp, Jak tumbled down a small slope with piles of dirt and debris with him. He made a loud thud and whimper as he reached the bottom, the leaves and branches landing on top of him with some more various thumps and crunches.

Lasair tried to be interested in all the plant life Jak was showing him. That leaf was shaped funny; that flower was rather pretty, and similar reactions. His unease was starting to ebb away as they encountered more aspects of nature. And then he jumped back as he felt the soil shift, watching with a look of shock as Jakobi tumbled downward. “Are you okay?” the red head called to him, slowly approached the edge when he felt the ground would shift no more.
After a couple seconds of silence and a slow groan, Jak extended his arm out from under the loose foliage and made a thumbs up. With another groan and couple of grunts he sat up, the detritus tumbling off of him and leaving him somewhat more uncovered, albeit dirtier. Jak rubbed the back of his head and cringed, but suddenly widened his eyes. "Me hat! Must've fell off when I keeled over." He looked around sadly, quickly scanning the ground around him to no avail. Taking a low tree branch firmly in hand, he pulled himself up and peered sheepishly over the edge. The cliff went down a lot farther, he was lucky he managed to get caught on the small precipice that hadn't eroded away like the rest thanks to the many interlocking roots from the trees above the overhang. Jak gulped and looked back up at Lasair. "Wouldn't mind helping me up, like, would yer?" He smiled a bit nervously and reached upward.

Surveying the ground, the red head opted to play it safe with this retrieval effort. He laid himself on the ground, one foot hooking on a tree as he reached towards Jakobi, hand outstretched. “Come on,” he coaxed. “I don’t like this.” That second part was more under his breath, but it was still audible. Things weren’t going well anymore. Time to get out of there. They just had to hope no beasties would pop up to surprise them in their fun.
