OPEN TO BOR
Caitlin led the aspiring pirate up the gangplank to the weatherdeck of her seafaring ship. well... One of many. He was a hoot, one of the fresh new characters of the comedic variety, the likes of which she hadn't seen in ages. With the growing unease in the world they lived in, a guild could do with a bit of levity. She really hoped this trial panned out. It would be a shame to drown the first genuine smile she'd seen in ages. But she'd do it, as she'd done before, to protect the secrecy of their guild.
"Welcome to the Dauntless. We set sail..." She pretended to consult the time. "Now." And on that one soft spoken word, everyone stopped what they were doing, and like well oiled cogs in a machine jumped to work getting the ship off the pier and underway. Caitlin motion for Pyre to look over the edge with her. They watched as the mooring lines released, the anchor was heaved up, and the lines were let out so the sails could catch the wind. "I do hate to pry, but as someone who keeps the ratio of human and ander influence in balance onboard my ships, I really must know: what species are you, Pyre?" Humans and Anders had their place in the guild, but it was important to keep it balanced. Or they might sink their ships with everyone on it. She pointed to the shipmates turning the cog that wrapped the anchor chain around large spokes using a pulley device. "For instance, all of those gents are human, no ander is allowed to touch the anchor chain, for good reason."
She was easing him in, which was more than she usually did for initiates, but he had already taken a beating on the pier, so why not grant him a small reprieve, a moment to catch his breath.
