Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

The small, unmistakable jingle of a bell instantly inflated the noble with excitement, even more when a beautiful cat trotted into view. "Hello there," he cooed, all smiles as he momentarily forgot his awkward position at the door. The creature was a fluff of grey and looked to have quite the attitude. It was a female cat- Stephen had an odd knack at knowing the gender of a cat by it's face. "You are quite possibly the most charming cat I have ever laid eyes on. Oh, but promise you will keep this a secret between just the two of us; Portia is the jealousy type and a tad bit too vain. Ah well, I suppose that is my fault, you see-"
He was interrupted by a sudden tap on the foot. Caught off guard, he jerked up only to band his head against the door. Hissing, he managed to get his throbbing head out of the door to glare up at whoever was foolish enough to anger him. Elaine appeared to be his attacker, though she look more confused than hostile. Dash it all, she caught him in an awkward position and had interrupted his conversation. Clearing his throat, he stood up quickly and brushed off the dirt from his pant legs. "Elaine! What are you doing here," he questioned her with a stern look, acting as if she had not just caught him tale end up like a lunatic.

To speak the truth there had been another wound on her thigh before too, but by now it had healed without any traces left. The cut on the side of her waist was being troublesome though, since she tended to move in her sleep anyway and it's not like she could immobilite that area of her body like she could to a limb. She lifted the shirt just enough to show the tainted-in-black-blood bandages under and remove them, then remove the old ruptured stitches so that Abby could put the new ones. Originally that had been a diagonal sliced line with the lenght of someone's pointer finger, but now the partially healed result was more like an interrupted series of three smaller gashes.
"Go ahead." She told the doll. To be frank, Edelweiss had even thought about cauterizing that wound before, many times. She wasn't scared of pain, nor of gaining a scar. The main reason why she didn't resort to that measure already was because burning the 'entrance' closed didn't mean the wound inside was healed, besides the required care to treat burns being much more delicate than to treat cuts and more easily infected as well - and she didn't react well to penicilin, so antibiotics were out of question too.
"Thanks." She replied simply when Amon came with the supplies and reached out a hand to take them before he turned all flustered and started stammering and went to leave. She vaguely wondered if his mechanical arm and eyepatch were bothering him despite Abby's assurance that they should be resistent enough.
Stephannie approached a tad more and lightly sniffed Stephen's face as he had started cooing. There was something sweet he was bringing. Owner liked sweets. Therefore, Stephannie would let this human cat in; she jumped onto the counter and from the counter to the door handle, and wiggled there flailing her short paws on the lock until there was a click sound that was not related to her little bell and the door opened slightly. Then she jumped back down and proceeded to rub herself against Stephen's leg and purr.
Meanwhile, Pearl was going around the house looking for the grey furrball. "Stephannie, where are you? Stephannie~" She then heard the purring coming from the kitchen and hurried to there, finding the cat and two strangers. "Steph---?"

Elaine winced as he hit his head. That sounded like it hurt. She raised an eyebrow at him. He stood and hastily straightened himself out. "I'm here to find out why there are wailing children in the front. And where all those dolls came from. Considering finding you talking to something on the other side of that cat door there are actually people inside?" She returned the unnecessary sternness with an amused glint in her eyes. "If you buy me a nice dinner I promise I won't tell anyone." She teased him with a quirky smile. Taunting her second-in-command, foolish or brave? She shrugged. Suddenly the door clicked as it unlocked. "What the...?" She said looking between Stephen and the opening door. A pretty cat stepped out and rubbed up against Stephen. "Smart kitty!" She complimented bending over to hold her hand out to the feline. She heard a someone calling out. Must be for the cat. Looking back up she saw the girl in the door. She had stopped at the sight of them. "Hello." Elaine smiled kindly.
"Understood," replied Abby, as she set herself to work. "Just tell me if it's hurting too much." And she started working on the wound.
Amon in the meantime stood just outside the room, doing his best not to peek in, lost in thought. Finally, he raised his right arm, and made a series of clicking noises.
"...So...what exactly happened?" asked Abby, receiving Amon's order and starting up small talk.

"I was working like always, but there was a deranged man in the crowd and he stabbed me." Well, the part about being stabbed was a tad obvious, but she had given the most details she could out of courtesy to someone who's there helping her, while still maintaining her cover. She didn't lie on that. Just no need to tell she was working on an assassin mission. No need to tell the deranged man was a traitor infiltrated amid their own ranks. No need to tell the man was also killed by her hands nor that back then she'd also been shot in the leg. "Not many people like Andersweltlers here in Lodan." Also no need to mention those two things, albeit both true facts and spoken sincerely, were unrelated on this matter.
"...Same thing can be said of humans..." thought Amon, feeling a sudden twinge of pain in his eye and arm. However, it felt like she was leaving somethings out. Whatever, so long as she's safe, the finer details of her work doesn't concern him. He clicked his arm again.
"...I see...hopefully it doesn't happen again..." replied Abby. "All finished," she said a moment later, applying the final bandages.
At that, Amon entered the room, but stood by the doorway. "You should probably get some rest," Amon said as Abby cleaned up and made her way to the door. "And best way to keep that wound from re-opening would be to not move. Don't worry, we'll help keep a look out."
"And if you have trouble sleeping, Amon could sing you to sleep," said Abby, giving Amon a wink.
"...Get outta here..." he replied, face turning red again.
"I shall help keep watch with my brother. Get well soon," she said, turning towards Edel and giving a curtsy before leaving the room.
[Do you honestly think that she would take up on that offer?] asked Abe as Abby joined him, making barely audible clicking noises.
[Those wounds, along with her appearance tell a tale of combat of some sort. Amon may think of her as strong, but there's no telling what nightmares those of the flesh may have.] replied Abby in a similar clicking manner. [Mother did mention that it helped Amon at the very least.]
[If he wants to capitalize on that, he better do it soon: we may have some company.] replied Abe, nodding towards the downstairs.

"I would suppose, but I was not addressing a human at the time," he responded evenly as he bent over to pick up the box of donuts. When she mentioned him buying her dinner he raised his eyebrows with a frown. Oddly enough she was not the first to make such a request. He had a vague memory of Ikuze Storm making the same request once. Wait, or was that Danielle? Or maybe Zona K. Noakes? Queens, he had no idea and the fact made him utterly confused. Back to the woman at hand: "How about I give you one of these donuts and we leave it at that," he replied with a challenge in his eye. He may have more pocket money then the average fellow but he could not be constantly dealing out
Hearing the door open, he was pleasantly surprised to see that the cat had opened the door. "You are just marvelous! Such a smart lady," he shamelessly complimented the cat with a grin, leaning down to pet her. When he heard something that sounded like his name he looked up to see a girl running down the stairs. Drat, this cat had an owner. Wait one moment. The girl was not calling his name, she was calling the cat. "The cat's name is.... Stephannie?" Narrowing his eyes, he looked the girl up and down. "Who is the owner of this house, Miss?" It could not be purely coincidence that this cat had such a similar name to his own.

Elaine rolled her eyes. "I was joking actually. Tada! Jokes exist." She muttered. "But I'll still gladly take one of those doughnuts." Her eyes lingered on the box of treats. Then returned to the task at hand. 'Stephannie?' Elaine forced down a giggle. Grumpy looking feline named after an actual grumpy person. She took the time to look inside the house. Neatly and sparingly decorated. And very much inhabited. She waited to see what the girl would tell them.

"And that takes me back to my presently more recurring issue... I move a lot in my sleep." Edelweiss chuckled awkwardly when Amon mentioned she should rest and also that the best thing she could do to recover was not moving. She agreed with him, on both points, but it was hard to fulfill one without wrecking the other. That was also the reason why she had not slept nearly as much as she should lately, enough that it was showing under her eyes. Edelweiss didn't usually dream, even now, she couldn't remember dreaming of anything since the first years of her teens - when she took up the assassin job. To her sleep was darkness, silence and oblivion for as long as it lasted. A deep dive into a world of nothing - both restful and intimidating on its own way.
But in the end she relented and took her time to sloooowly settle herself lying on the bed and pulled the blanket over. She didn't think those three would steal nor break anything in the house, and even in the hypothesis that they did she could count on Stephannie to scratch their faces off if they tried it in her sleep; that cat was well-trained.
Abby's suggestion of having Amon sing her to sleep gained another, lighter laugh from the redhead though. "Well I wouldn't refuse a free little musical show if it was offered. Though all I'll ask is if I start turning around while asleep, please do wake me up."
"Yeah, that's her name. And I must question who's asking..." Pearl looked back Stephen and squinted her eyes while at it. "And why do you look like Stephannie?" The grumpy face. That sumptuous gait. The grumpy face. The fluffy hair. The grumpy face. The same eyes and the grumpy face... and did she mention the grumpy face? Meanwhile, Stephannie had moved to rub against Elaine and meow all snuggly since the human cat and the child cat were both busy talking to each other. Please keep pampering her, human girl. Stephannie likes pampering.

Amon woke up gasping, the injuries to his eye and arm pulsing painfully. It took him a few minutes for him to catch his breath, fear slowly turning into a mix of annoyance and anger.
"Hmmm? Sweetie, what's wrong?" his mother called out. "Bad dream?"
"...Yeah, I'm fine..." he replied. "Nothing to worry about Mom, go back to sleep."
"That's the third night in a row. It's certainly something that I'm going to worry about," she replied. "Want me to sing you my lullaby? It helped you when you were little..."
"...I think I'm a little too old for your lullabies Mom..."
"You're never too old for Mom's lullabies dear," she said with a smile.
Present day...
"It's nothing really..." he said with a sigh, moving a chair to sit next to her bed. "Just something my Mom used to sing to me."
He paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts, after which he began to softly sing:
"Now hush my child, don't you cry Nothing can harm you, dry your eye. You're in your bed, all safe and warm, Soothe the mind and calm the storm.
May your sweetest dreams come true, To touch the sky, so soft and blue. Now spread your wings and fly away, Your fears cannot reach you today.
Now dream sweet dreams, all safe and warm, Soothe the mind and calm the storm..."
It was something really simple, and could be repeated as needed, but it was what helped him fight through his childhood nightmares...as well as the new ones.
Just outside, the dolls continued to keep watch, making sure nothing could enter the room without them knowing.

Well, one thing to be sure, it had been many years since anyone would be at the redhead's bedside to lullaby her to sleep. The last time had also been her mother, even though in Edelweiss' case her mother simply used to do that everynight when she was little and then slightly more sporadically after she grew some, rather than keeping it for occasions where she had bad dreams. That was a nice memory it brought forth though, and sure as day the ginger halfbreed fell asleep.
And just as sure as that, after just a couple minutes she also started to slowly turn around and roll to the side on the mattress in her sleep.

"...Dang it Edel..." Amon thought with a smile. He didn't want to wake her, but the tossing in her sleep wasn't going to help her wounds...
As gently as he could, he stopped her movement, and tried to push her back onto her back, hoping that it wouldn't trigger some sort of defensive stance from the assassin. And there he sat, watching over her and making sure she didn't toss around too much.
Seeing her sleeping face was a bonus.
...don't judge me...

The only 'assassin effect' Amon's light pushing ended up causing were Edelweiss' eyes snapping wide open again once she detected the hand on her shoulder... and then they got only partially open as a groggy and immensely tired expression took over her face. "Drated heavens, I was squirming already, right...."
And she didn't even have time to wait for his reply before falling asleep again. At least not moving anymore this time... yet.
Eryn had been following Stephen this day, it was odd of her to spy on friends and family but this was more or less training , becoming tuned to being invisible, something Eryn was good at , however this day she saw Stephen go into a place , with other children outside, other then Lone who was ok, these other children something was different , like they where there for something. Eryn could smelled blood and sugar and to her shock she didn't know what to do as she watched from the rooftops.
the bloody smell was doing something to Eryn, it felt she was hungry for blood... something she know was not right, she snapped out of it as she got out a doughnut from her bag and bit into it which removed the feeling. this was new .... something she repressed when she was younger. (hunting past!)
shaking her head as she made her way down from the roof she was on to the streets, past the children to the side of the house and climbed the wall up to the window as she tried to open it to get in.

Stephen frowned even deeper at the girls statement. Well, something was going on here, this was purely not coincidence. "My name is Stephen and I am looking for my friend Edelweiss. Do you happen to know where she is? I come bearing gifts" He lifted the box of donuts with one hand and shook it ever so slightly for emphasis.
