Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

OPEN TO CAEsAL The feral eye of midnight glared down on the city of Lodan through the thin veil of dark clouds trying intently, but failing to hide the sleeping city below. Where sunlight once shined pleasantly, offering a warm resting place; now, gave way to cold darkness, and whatever scoundrels lurked there. The soft glow of electric lighting trapped behind glass windows offered little protection from the night's shade or its chill. All was still, perhaps too still, almost lifeless. Despite the lifelessness of the streets, the Theater District was very much alive. It was almost as if the denizens of this division never slept. And for some of them, it was true. Heralds of joy by day and harbingers of death by night. Assassins.
Jasper, or as "the family" knew him, Lullaby, watched in awe at the bustle of activity that filled the theater. People of all kinds rushed in and out of the doors; some entered well dressed and pristine while others moved about gruffly, specks of fresh blood staining their cheeks. It was strange, the blue-haired initiate thought to himself as he walked to a nearby bulletin board, despite this bunch being a conglomeration of murderers, the theater seemed no different from when it was open. He shrugged off the thought and reached to pinch a specific piece of paper than caught his eye.
"Another drug dealer, eh?" he whispered to no one in particular.
He tore the small page off the board and pivoted in place to come face to face with one of his acquaintances.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't see you there." he said. (Let's see if we can get most everyone, shall we?)

The noble was in the basement of the theater, over looking the workings of the guild. He was about to double check the list of targets when the newest recruit, Lullaby invaded his personal space. Lord, he smelled bad. He instinctively took a step back, regaining his essential space once again. After that, he sniffed and frowning deeply at the smaller man, "It would be for the best that you at least attempt to be aware of your surroundings. I have enough bumbling day-dreamers here and I wish not to add to the number." After chewing him out he noticed the paper in Lullaby's hand. "Another drug dealer. You seem to have a preferred target"

You wanted CAEsAL's? Not all us are assassins, but I'll find my own way in "Hey watchit-Gahhhh-" And there was a tumble down the cellar steps.
In a heap on the floor, her hair nicely curled and spashed in front of her face from the fall, was Maeve. Though of course it was hard to tell with her face covered as it was. She couldn't see a thing, and her ankle hurt.
"Bloody wonderful, I've got en act to do in five, and some twit knocks me down the stairs to the bloody -" She sniffed and pushed herself quickly off the floor. Her eyes hadn't adjusted to the dimmer light but she could tell it was musky, and there was a puff of dust coming off her fancy get up. "Sade will love this," She muttered to herself, squinting down at her entertainers outfit, she still hadn't looked around at her location. She heard a shift in weight behind her and she froze in place.
"Dun'think I dunno someone's in here. Turn on the other lights so I can see yuh." She assumed there were others.

Triune turned to see who made the loud ruckus and was surprised to see Maeve staring into the darkness. "As graceful as ever I see, Maeve." In a quick motion he flipped the board to reveal a very plain list of supplies, effectively hiding the list of targets. "Are you alright," he asked as he walked over to light an oil lamp. He examined her get up with a smirk "I am guessing you have a performance tonight, given how you are dressed."

She blew a strand of hair out of her eyes with a puff of air and glared at him. "Have I ever mentioned I love my fans, and hate my friends?" At least when she was dressed like this. It was at least half a year now that she'd been a stage headliner and still she wasn't used to the idea. She was far more comfortable in her hardknock clothes. Must be the Ander in her. She didn't trust the nobles to respect her outside of the theater. So she preferred to keep her jazzier self inside it. Let the rogue live on the outside.

(hope you don't mind if I slip in to get a job )
Elaine poked her head in through the theater doors and scanned the room. Green eyes taking in as much detail as she could before slipping into the crowd. She had come for a job, not having picked one up in a while. For various reasons. She ducked and weaved through the flock of people coming, going, and waiting. Some gentlemen were standing nearby discussing modern politics. Their arguments meant nothing to the girl, who wanted no part in the government of the city. After slowing down to listen to their voices raising after each statement she turned away. Then flitted backstage waving at some passing performers.
Dodging backstage bustle Elaine headed directly for a dark place. She reached the cellar door to find it ajar, not entirely out of the ordinary. Elaine crept down the stairs to snatch something off the board. She stopped at the bottom of the stairs when she noticed two, wait no, three people in the lamplight.
Triune, or Stephen as he was referred to outside the guild, stood holding the lamp talking to a dusty disheveled Maeve. Who was back in her dazzling ensemble. And the boy recruit she was with in the initiates first task, Lullaby. She was not about to ask she just wanted a job and that would be currently impossible. But Elaine was patient she could wait.

Zona needed a new target, so off to the guild base she went! The last one she had was far too easy, didn't put up a fight or anything, just sat there and begged for his life... it was fun up until he started balling like a small child. She needed something, someONE more engaging, more alive, more... not crying... so she was off to see what she could find.
Upon arriving at the guild she noticed a show was about to start, not really fazing her Zona continued on her way toward the stairs that lead to the basement of the theater. It was a nice little spot, almost like it was hiding in plain sight. Zona open the door and walked on down, something was off though, it was... brighter down there than it normally was, and upon looking further she could see why. It seemed that Maeve had fallen down the stairs and ended up in the main guild room, "Well that was stupid of her..." Zona thought to herself as she made her way down the stair. She then noticed Stephen and Jasper were there too along with a lone Elaine over and off by the board. "Well now... You guys are havin' a party and ya didn't invite me?" Zona asked with a bit of a playful pout, truly putting her code name to good use.
Badger: The cuss you are. Mr. Fox: The cuss am I? Are you cussing with me? Badger: No, you cussing with me? Mr. Fox: Don't cussing point at me! Badger: If you're gonna cuss with somebody, you're not gonna cuss with me, you little cuss! Mr. Fox: You're not gonna cuss with me! -Fantastic Mr.Fox (2009)
It was raining outside. Not an overly bad downpour, but Max really hadn’t wanted to sit outside in it. So as she usually did in bad weather, she was lurking around inside the guild. She recalled Zona offering her an invitation to her house, but the guild had been closer this day. Max had been sitting in the corner of the guild’s secret room staring into the distance via the back of Triune’s head. She knew it bothered him when she looked at him so she made a habit of doing it all the time. One of the newer members, Lullaby, had been staring at the guild bored at one moment, and in the next there was a flurry of activity.
Max simply stayed in the corner watching them all. She hadn’t felt a need to step forward, but as Zona entered, she thought it would be worth it. “Need something?” she asked to no one in specific.

"OK WHICH ONN'A YOU PUSHED ME?" Mae snapped at all the newcomers in the room. She was paranoid for sure one of 'em did it- "Oh, hi little sister," She said to Elaine.

Elaine raised her hands in defense but dropped them to wave at Mae. Then she cast a grin at Zona. "I would have invited you but, unfortunately I didn't know who all was coming." She needed to go hang out with her blue-haired friend. Then she heard a third voice. Leaning sideways she peered around Mae to spot Max sitting in the corner. "Hey." She said doing a swift wave. Lets see, Stephen being sassy as usual, Max hiding in the corner, Zona doing whatever Zona does, Lullaby at the board, and Mae all razzle-dazzled in the middle. She scanned the room one more time to make sure she hadn't missed anyone. Everything seemed to be in the usual order. Elaine coughed to stifle a small laugh now that she thought about it. She looked back up and around. Musty basement behind a theater stage and a bunch of people standing around.

"What friends," he jabbed back, quirking an inquisitive eyebrow at her. Of course, one could say the same to him but that was beside the point. Elaine and Zona entered the room soon afterwards, causing the noble to frown even more. Joy, more people; he lo~ved people. Max spoke up just then. Drat, she was still here. He had just about forgotten her until now. She probably was still staring at the back of his head; The gall of that woman. Then Maeve yelled, which pushed Stephen over the edge. Pintching the bridge of his nose, he waited for Elaine to shut up then turned on Maeve. "Must you yell. To be honest you are not allowed in this room, Maeve but I have allowed you to linger here- Though, I most certainly would have no problem with kicking you out since you have a performance to attend in the near future. Then again, you just toppled down the stairs- maybe you are in no condition to continue. I think I shall just have Sade find you a replacement for tonight and send you on your merry way back to whatever hovel you live in." Yes, it had been a bad day. Yes, he was taking it out on Maeve. Only because he believed she could take it.

Maeve could feel the tension in the air at Stephens outburst. The static could make your hair stand on end as she slowly turned from facing the girls on the stairs, to the man at the bulletin board. "Supply list" it read. These people must all require a lot of supplies, she thought sarcastically. Her eyes as they fixed on him glowed with a liquid mercury color. "You're telling me the headliner at this theater, the name everyone in that audience is paying to see perform tonight is not permitted-" yeah, she could use big words, like permitted, she'd been around Sade long enough to pick up a few like that "- in the Supply room? And like a bossy noble Patron of the arts like yourself is going to stop me anyway. You might have a little scrapper in you down deep somewhere, I've seen it, but I doubt..." She took a step forward, "that he's ready," She took another step closer, "For a catfight. With. Mae." She stared daggers into his eyes.
After a momentary staring contest she sneered to anyone in the room who was willing to break away from the scene, "Tell Sade to send out the understudy, tell him I'm busy."

(Soka, technical difficulties...) "Sorry, I really didn't mean to. I just-" Jasper began but was cut short by sound something heavy bouncing down the stairs. Each thump made him wince the smallest bit, but then he noticed the noises where those of a person rolling down them, and he'd covered his eyes with a forearm.
At the last of the noises, Jasper peeked over his arm precariously to catch a glimpse of the misfortune soul who had taken the dive. With his eyes already adjusted to the darkness, he saw the glimmer of a performer's costume and fancily curled hair.
"I hope she's okay." the blue-haired boy whispered under his breath.
As if queued by his unheard comment the woman sat up and called out for light. The noble seemed to follow through with her demands. The two exchanged some words, which the youthful assassin tried not to listen to out of respect. Another woman, the initiate that hadn't gone missing during his trial, entered and almost right behind her, a more familiar blue-haired girl appeared. A smile brightened Jasper's face as he saw Zona and he wave like a child would, standing on his tippy-toes. There was the group conversed a bit and he could help but eavesdrop. Apparently, everyone here knew each other, which made sense seeing as most of them had met before the blue-haired Ander's trial.
Then things got a little heated. The unlucky performer and that sourpuss noble were practically at each other's throats before Jasper had barely enough time to react.
"Hey, hey." he called out to the two as he stepped closer to the feud. "There's no need to fight. We're all family, right?" he continued peppering a simple suggestion into his words: "Calm down." (Deceit I x2). He beamed a bright, close-eyed smile and hugged himself for emphasis.

How could he forget; Maeve did not know he was the second in command of the underside of CAEsAL- Queens, she did not even KNOW there was an underside to CAEsAL. The fact that she lacked this knowledge amused and infuriated him even more. But she was not stupid. The longer she stayed down here the higher the chance that she could discover CAEsAL's "little secret." The code echoed in his mind as he thought about his predicament: Do not blow your cover. Do not compromise the Association. Do not shed blood without reason . The most logical approach would be to apologize and offer to take Maeve back to where ever she needed to go; but this meant he would have to risk his pride and power in from of the new initiates. There was nothing he hated more then losing power. But would bowing out even make him lose the respect of his members? It takes courage to start a fight but it takes far more walk away from it. He worked out the possible problems and solutions in the few seconds of silence that he stared down at the woman challenging him.
Alas, the decision was made for him the moment Jasper intervened. At the man's words, he felt a sense of calm wash over him but that did not mean he had forgotten what just happened. After letting out a breath he did not known he'd been holding, a polite smile lit his face as he took a step back. "My apologies, I should not have lost my tempter. It would be a shame for you to miss your performance over something as trivial as this. May I have the honor of escorting you back to your room? I hope to put this unpleasantness behind us." After a short pause he added, "And to answer your question, the reason that the performers are not allowed down here is mainly that there a many hazardous and breakable props down here that could cause injury. We would not want an accident to occur that might endanger the stars of this entertainment business. I hope you understand"
