Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

The noble stared right back at her, not intimidated by her silent challenge. Why did she always have to be so difficult?! Stephen took a deep breath, and attempted to change tactics. "I am going to make a wild guess here and say that you are probably not the only one after these pages, hm? Personally, I would rather have someone from my guild obtain them before anyone else gets the chance. 500 EMP is nothing to bat an eyelash at, even I know that. So, if you are still not getting it, that means the richer you will be once you have these pages within your possession. Bickering with me will give you no benefit; so why not just accept my blood help..." Though he had intended to answer her in a calm voices, he couldn't hide all of his anger, which leaked a little into his speech at the end.

The dust she had cleared from the box revealed the words "Daughters of Paten Eath" in a weak shaky print. Her grandfather had been so old, his hands withered and uneasy, she recognized his penmenship easily. He'd insisted she learned to read, even though it never did her or anyone else in the hovel a lick of good to know how. She frowned. He was the only family she remembered. He spoke of her mother, tried to make Gina sound like a nice girl - but Mae never believed it, and her thoughts of Gina rotted in her mind with the knowledge that she'd left Mae behind to start over with the farmer and their new daughter. The little sister that Mae should have grown up playing with.
She kicked the box, not because she resented learning to read, or because she resented her grandfather. She kicked it because it said DAUGHTERS. Plural. He'd only ever had one. And that one had two - but they'd never said so much as a syllable to each other. What good was teaching a family to read, when they couldn't even speak to one another?
She tugged on her coat and stormed back out the door. Finding some lost pages from the shadow world would take her mind off of her own crappy past, and maybe fill it with someone elses.
“Fine. Since you won’t leave me alone about it, here.” She shoved the folded slip of paper with the clue towards him. “A guy was bragging about having found the clue, so I swiped it out of his pocket. I don’t think he had even read it yet.” Max was rather annoyed with the man’s yelling at her, but what could she do about it. He was her boss, and he was more skilled than her. The only thing she could maybe beat him at would be running away, but that was only a maybe. She might as well cooperate, for now.

The annoyed noble snatched up the paper quickly and scanned it. It was a riddle. He HATED riddles. How Max obtained these pages did not please him as well. "Wonderful. And here I was thinking that you acquired this hint honestly using your wits but apparently my 'high' opinion of you is fated to be shattered once again." Having let out some of his anger on the annoying girl, he focused on the hint, trying to figure it out. It took a few seconds to figure it out. A frown graced his lips. Oh this day was just getting better and better. Out of all the places, it had to be the clock tower. Was it really the clock tower? There was no other place that he could think of that would fit the description... "It is the clock tower, I believe. Let us carry on then" he muttered, handing the note back to her.
Max’s eyes went wide for a moment before blinking back to normal. “N-no,” she stuttered. “I can’t go there. If you think it’s there, fine go ahead. But I won’t go anywhere near that place.” Her knuckles turned white as she clutched the edge of the fountain. She knew exactly where the clock tower was. She knew because she would never go within fifty feet of it. It took her a moment to realize the clock tower fit the description of her hint, but even then, she would never go willingly to that place.

Stephen paused, keenly aware of her sudden change in attitude. He knew that look in her eyes. It was the same he got when someone mentioned heights. Cautiously, he turned to face her and addressed her slowly, all hostility gone from his voice “Why?” If she was afraid of heights too, they could work through this but there would be no chance that they would be able explore the upper parts of the tower, something he had been counting on her to do.
Max stood up and turned away from him, fighting the urge to run away. The least she could do was start taking a step or two. “I just can’t,” was all she said. She didn’t want to tell Stephen about her fear. He would surely use it against her, and she wasn’t sure she could live through another encounter like that. If he kept pressing her, she would have no choice but to run away.

Silence spanned between them as he tried to figure out what exactly was upsetting her. Though she was doing a good job of hiding it, he could tell something was up given by her initial reaction. Coming up with nothing, he sighed. "Fine. I shall go and look around. If I find anything, I will share the information I have obtained since you did the same courtesy for me. Is there anymore information that would help me to find these pages or shall I go now?"
“I said all I found,” Max replied, glaring at him. She stood up now and waited for him to walk off. As he did, she promptly turned and walked in the opposite direction. “So much for that idea,” she mused to herself. “Maybe I’ll have better luck elsewhere.” She began walking back towards the outskirts region. At least that place was quiet.

George popped his head over and went to retrieve her. He helped boost her over and she perched herself at the top of the wall, holding out her small hand for him to take in order to assist George as well, but he was able to do it on his own. Tentatively, she climbed her way down, and turned to face Lefiruc. As he asked her how he could help, she looked down at the paper she had clasped tightly in her palm, the note from M.I., and held it out to him with worried eyes so that maybe he could tell her what it meant.
"Ah, I see." said Lefiruc as the young lass showed him the message. "Well, what's happening is, we're looking for pages to a very old book. A book that is said to have knowledge about our kind that has been thought lost for a very long time." the older man explained slowly so that each of the words would be understood properly. "The problem is, there are some people who think that this is a bad thing, and want to destroy the pages before we can find them. So, its a race to find the pages. And I think one of them is in this Garden somewhere." Lefiruc explained before he nodded to George, the butler taking point position. "So... shall we go on this scavenger hunt together?" he asked the girl, holding out a hand for her to take if she wanted.
Lone jumped excitedly, her eyes wide, and nodded tentatively taking his hand as she did. Whatever this book was, it had to be important, especially the the guild, and she wanted to contribute as much to the group as she possibly could!

Jasper moved through the massive stone hallways silently, careful not to disturb the stillness that filled the Incolentium. With each step he took, he wondered more and more if the uncomfortable silence was a natural part of the architecture or if it spawned from his perceived trespassing. After a while, he found himself in what seemed to be a library. "This is going to take forever." He told himself with an audible groan as his eyes scanned over the monumental rows of books. "Better get started." he sighed before walking over to the nearest bookshelf and grabbed a book.
