Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Danny hovered around the edges of Lodan near the forest's border. Things needed to be put into motion. Things were too calm. Danny stood right inside border of the forest out of sight, and watched. And waited. Rumors had been spreading in the city that a shadowy organization was gathering itself. After the attack on the science labs in the city proper, folks were willing to believe. The rumors were wild. A firestorm consumed the entire building, some said. Others said that everyone inside had been killed by the living dead. And still others claimed that one person had done it by mind controlling everyone inside. The only things that were agreed upon were that Anders had done it, and that this was only the beginning. So the rumors worked their way through the slums of Lodan, mentioning that one could meet with the group responsible for the lab accidents. Go to the borderland forest at eight in the evening, unarmed. Wait one hundred yards inside, out of sight. Someone would meet you there.

Lasair had no idea what he was getting himself into. First he was at a bar, talking up some pretty ladies, when this cranky waitress came up to him and started rambling about some rumor regarding some organization. He didn't catch all of what she was saying, but it ended with him promising to see if the rumor was true, if for no other reason than to add it to his vast collection of stories to tell. He paused at the edge of the buildings, looking out at the forest, before walking forward. He eyeballed a hundred yards as he walked inside, and then found a low branch. He hopped onto it and sat, swinging his legs beneath him. Technically he was unarmed, but in case this someone DID show up, AND had the power to read his mind, he wore his black gloves, cutting him off from his source of spark. And so he waited, humming softly to himself and already being to dramatize the experience in his mind.

Danny had been watching from his hiding place in the shadows. They looked unarmed... but that wasn't ever a guarantee. Danny used all of his experience and skill from his time charting the shadow beasts to approach the stranger. As soon as he was close enough that the other wouldn't be able to react violently before he was disposed of, Danny spoke up.
"Off the tree. Feet shoulder length apart. Arms out, palms up." His steel sword glinted in the light. He'd save the magic for later, and had used most of his last paycheck for the blade he now carried.

Nearly falling off the branch from the sudden voice and shine of a blade, it took Lasair a moment to gather his bearings and actually hop off the tree without falling on his face. He was starting to think no one would show up. Unless this was some kind of thief, he was wrong. Doing as told, Lasair stood before the stranger, unable to make out the face. Their voice sounded rather in about the mid-pitch range, so he couldn’t make any assumptions about their gender. He started planning ice breakers that worked for either gender in him mind, instead.

Danny quickly advanced on the man and spoke before putting his sword away. "One wrong move, an' yer zombie chow. I can 'lot worse'n the shadows out 'ere." Danny sheathed his sword across his back and quickly frisked the man. His hands roughly patted every inch of the man before he stood up and spoke again from behind the fellow. "A'right. Turn 'round an' tell me yer name an' why yer 'ere."

Smiling as their hands touched his body, Lasair had to bite his tongue to keep from making a flirty comment. He knew this was a serious moment and, well, like they said a wrong move could mean death. As he did a very strut-like turn around, he spoke, letting his deep voice ring out into the forest. “Lasair Landevier Lupen, and I came to see if this mysterious organization could use a pretty face in their campaign,” he paused a moment, his face turning to stone. “I also believe anders and humans should be equal and want to see that happen.”

"Don' need no pretty faces. Jus' folks who can work." Danny looked at the man. "An' wha' makes ya think tha' I'll b'lieve ya? Ya could jus' be someone lookin' ta take anders down." Danny looked at the man and then leaned back against one of the trees. "Why d'ya think ya can do somethin' ta 'elp? Wha' can ya bring ta the table?"

Lasair didn’t respond at first, instead thinking for a few moments as he picked his words carefully. “Well, I’m an ander myself. Can do a bit of magic, not much yet however. But what I am good at is gathering information—or spreading it if need be. I may have just returned to the neighborhood, but I’m already leaving an impression at every bar, pub, inn, and shop I visit. I can hold my alcohol better than the average man, and if you need a false trail laid out for a mouse to follow or some other public or social job needing to be done, I can do that too.” He ended with a grin, showing his white teeth. It was killing him not to complement this stranger, but at this point he was just hoping to get out alive. There were quite a few dead leave on the ground, if he made a run for it he could probably light them as he ran, but he really hoped it wouldn’t come to that.

Danny scrutinized the man from behind his goggles before he nodded once. "A'righ'. Go two hunnerd yards tha' way, then take'a righ'. Yeh'll find a big buildin' back thataway. If ya don' see it, ya ain' never gonna be one'a us. The big boss wan's me ta check an' see anyone who's lookin' fer us. So yer gonna wait there 'til I come an' getcha. Capiche?" Danny gestured with his thumb before he disappeared back into the shadows of the woods.

As soon as the person disappeared, Lasair let out the large breath he had been holding. “That ended surprisingly well…” he mused to himself before heading in the indicated direction. He slipped his gloves off into his pockets and was tempted to make a spark, but opted against it. His eyes were already adjusting to the dark, however he had to admit the building was well hidden. It wasn’t until he was within five yards of it that he actually saw it, the menacing thing that it was. Instead of going inside, he sat down against the wall. Next to the door however, in case something sketchy showed up. Lasair was already having enough trouble keeping the thought of shadow beats off his mind, so he made shapes with the leaves on the group around him instead, softly whistling as he did so, and thought which pick up lines would work best on the shadowy recruitment officer.

Ratna made her way down the street , coat flowing and smiles she know today was the day. she know her mother was once apart of a guild for magic and she intended to join up too. she had to stop a few times to check the old map in her book for which way to go, lucky she was good at keeping track of where she had been. and had made sure that each turn was a new one.
as she turned to the street that was marked on the map as 'magic guild here' she looked around for anyone who could guide her , maybe someone who looked like her in a way , someone who looked like a mystery .
Post by Danny Ravensdale on Oct 19, 2014 4:00:54 GMT
The street Ratna was on looked the same as any other street. Nothing out of the ordinary, aside from the clusters of homeless whispering fearfully about Anders swooping down from the skies to kill them all. One of the men ldt drop the rumor about Anders gathering strength, and where to find them. One hundred yards into the woods at eight pm unarmed.

"really you think that would work , all i see of that is death " Ratna was not impressed , she know how dangerous is was from what her mother said about forests and the possible creatures since she did used to live in one, so she didn't not trust that information given as she continued on to search. no way she would send herself onto a suicidal battle with creatures without more spells, she tried again but this time asking around in the next streets. there had to be someone who didn't want people to die.
her current spell was summoning Skellys which have only a very short lifespan which are uncontrollable which when summoned she force them by kicking there back towards the target, against a monster she had no chance since the spell only works 5 times before she had to rest. so there no question about it. she needed real answers , not a death wish
"there has to be someone who knows who not thinking about kill me and instead helping me "

One of the fearful homeless looked up at Ratna and spat angrily. "That's why none'a us are gonna go and check it. Where's your man? He should keep a tighter leash on you..."
As Ratna spoke on the next street over, her questions were met with varied replies.
"There's no auch thing as an organized group of Anders. That'd be little better than dogs anyways."
"I heard you can find them if you talk to a ten foot giant!"
"A hundred yards into the woods at eight. That's where they'll be... trying to do some kind of demon witch dance I'll bet."
"Quit asking around, before you get hurt. They don't take kindly to people poking their nose into their business."
"I heard you can find their leader when he appears in the clocktower when it strikes twelve!"

"well this is not really helpful" she noticed that they are being fearful, and Ratna was getting annoyed about this , no proper answers and not getting anywhere , so at the last one she decided maybe a scare would work theses people up so she quickly had to find some poor fellows bones, which with all these poor people there should not be a hard task. she managed to find intact skelly quickly grabbing it and dragging it into the center of the street. "ok anyone like to see a magic trick?"
( well , most she can do is make a noise 1st , sometime fear can be the best weapon )
