Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Alexandra barked in laughter at the rogues audacity. this may be the first time he had elevated himself above bilge rat in her mind. He still pissed her off, but there was a modicum of respect now. Alexandra starting sliding closer to the lady Cockfoster speaking to her, while keeping her eyes on Rook. "Is anything this fool saying true? Are you the queen of rogues? And did he try and steal your ship?"

Cait gave her a long stare, then shrugged off hand and added "Yes, he's telling the truth, he's a lot of dislike-able things, but so far a liar doesn't seem to be one of them." as an afterthought she added "I'd hurry it up if I were you two, storms incoming.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Mad Rook Madiggan adjusted his standing and looked at Alexandra, his jovial manner lacking completely. "So, girly, what's it gonna be? Gonna go cut the sails and kill everybody on this ship? Or would you like to help me bring the ship in and then try to kill me once we get closer to port?" Madiggan waved the cloth top of the bottle closer to the open flame.

"Well then, I don't suppose I have much choice do I? Besides, I kinda like that plan; It was brave. Crazy, stupid, doomed to failure but brave and flashy. So I'll help you for now, at least get us closer to shore so the crew won't drown after I've dropped your body overboard. After all, the lady did say a storm was brewing and anything can happen in a storm." Alex sheathed her blade, and started walking toward the exit way, calling over her shoulder. "You can give my blade to the Captain, I don't like your dirty hands on my things. And put that dratted bottle away before you light something on fire. We all know you were bluffing. You already used up the little bit of bravery you had for the day." With the last syllable of her remark dying off, Alex flipped her hair and turned her back completely on the crazy pirate, intent on making her way on deck.

Rook Madiggan grinned as she spoke. As soon as the woman's back was turned, his grin dropped into a sigh. This girl... Rook flashed Caitlin a quick grin before heading up topside. He decidedly kept the knife... just in case. "So, girly, how does one sail this thing?" Rook began walking the ship, only to lurch and turn a sickly shade of green. Sea sickness! Mad Rook Madiggan silently swore to all the gods, angels, demons, and devils he knew. Of course that Queen would pick a sea ship... Hrk! Madiggan suppressed a heave and walked over to where the girl was. If she tried to stab him, nothing he could do now. His face lit up with a grin. Maybe some of that Devil's Luck of his would pull through...

Alexandra spun on her heal, aghast. "You don't know how to run this thing? What in the queens name were you doing trying to steal one you daft moke?" Alexandra watched the wretched man start turning pale, and came to a deeper realization. not only could the fool not work a sea vessel, he had see sickness. Of all the fools in the world, fate had to curse her with this one? If they survived the storm she was going to kill him with great enjoyment. "Why the blazes would you possibly think I know how to sail one of these? I am more of an airship girl. What I know I picked up from friends on the docks!" Alexandra strode forward looking around, trying to rack her brain for all the stories and advice the salty dogs that she knew from the docks and taverns had given her. They might be able to work something out if she put him on the tiler. She would stand a better chance in the shrouds anyways.

"Tick, tock, tick tock..." The men and women on the ship started quietly then picked up the volume as they took up the chant. There was thunder in the distance and the sky was losing a lot of its sunlight. Rain was on its way and the first gust of wind teased at the sails.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Rook Madiggan returned to the hold as soon as the chanting started. His only explanation to Lexi was, "Wait here, I've got a plan. And get ready to do exactly as I say." Mad Madiggan pulled out the knife Lexi had thrown earlier and went around the hold, severing the gas and oil lines to the lanterns. He snatched up his little bottle explosive and returned to the deck. With a flourish he grinned at the crew. "Alright slackers, here's what's gonna happen. A storm is coming, we all know. What I know and you don't is this. The hold is set to explode, destroying the ship and killing everyone on this boat, unless you do as I say. I don't mind having tea time with Old Nick, but that might not be on everyone's list. So here's what you all will do. You will begin sailing this thing back to port. If not, then this entire ship goes down, and each and every one of you with it." Madiggan was grinning as he paced, and drew close to Lexi. He quickly muttered just barely loud enough for the woman to hear. "Get ready to toss a light in the hold. I'llall keep talking, keep them occupied. You are my bomb." He unstoppered his bottle and took a swig. "Oh, and it's set to burn even if I bite the dust. Gas and open flames do that, you know..." Just gotta see how this plays out now...

Alex growled at the upstart... the nerve of him, bossing her around. Oh when this was over she would have her pound of flesh. "The next time you want me to do something, there had better be a please, or I'll hang you from a mast by your tongue, bilge rat," Alex growled quietly at him him before stalking off to look for something to burn. Below decks she ignored the hold that was already a death trap and instead started for the crew quarters. There she found some clothing and after a bit of rooting around a decent flint. With a quick trip into the hold she found a bit of broken crate and fashioned it into a crude torch, though the time spent their had her head spinning from the fume. The crazy fool really was going to kill them all. Non the less she had agreed to play along with this idiotic plan and she'd see it through. At the top of the stairs, in view of the decks, Alexandra paused and struck the flint with one of her blades. As soon as the torch was alight, she grinned mischievously. She waved the torch a bit to get attention.. she wasn't going to let the blowhard have all the fun. "You heard the bilge rat boys, it's time to get this tub turned round and headed for land!" Alexandra shouted, addressing the crew, "I'm tired of listening to his voice, and if I have to bear him much longer I am liable to blow us all to perdition just to be rid of him, so if I were you, I'd make all haste."

Caitlin didn't say anything at all during the turn of events. She raised an eyebrow now and again at the two intitiates behavior but otherwise kept to herself. The crew looked nervous at Madiggans threat, glancing for help from Caitlin or some cue. She gave none and kept her face completely nuetral. This trial wasn't about what she could do with a snap of her fingers, it was about what they could do. After a drawn out pause and the return of one fire bearing bitty, one of the sailors stepped forward.
"Bloody hell, I can't swim." he grumbled, "an' I can't fly me neithers," he added, grabbing one of the sail lines and unfurling the beast. "Some one want to give me a hand?" He shouted, and another non-winged ander stepped forward to take the line. One at a time they got to work and had the sails billowing out to catch the stormy winds and ride them back into shore. Madiggan was left to steer the old girl in, and would be expected to do so unless he said something otherwise. Caitlin could tell they were already off course and would end up banking under the cliff if they didn't turn her about.

Mad Madiggan grinned and swayed unsteadily on his feet. He triumphantly marched up to the wheel before looking at Alexandra with a sickly smile. "Doll, would you mind sailing this thing back in? My task was to get the ship back to port... yours was to keep me from sailing it in. If I do nothing to take part in the sailing act, you complete your trial too." He grinned and leaned against the railing as he watched the ship head towards the rocks. "Oh, and please decide quickly if that's a reasonable offer. We're heading for some rocks."

Alexandra sighed inwardly. The absurd man really was a lunatic, and she had been pulled into his crazy plan. At least they were under way again, and the foolish popinjay had actually accounted for her need to pass in his plan. Maybe just this once she wouldn't kill him. She was definitely going to punish him somehow, but at least he'd live for now. Alexandra squared her shoulders and strutted up to the man with a sickly sweet smile. "Hold my torch, bilge rat, and don't go setting anything on aflame. I know how you little boys like playing with fire," she said to him waspishly before relieving herself of the burning scrap. Moving to take the wheel Alex surveyed their position and noted that they were indeed heading for trouble. As she turned the wheel the ship began to lumber into deeper waters where she might have a few moments to find her course. "You know, bilge rat, you could try helping. You might not be able to steer but surely one of those fancy noble schools taught you about maps. Can you navigate, rich boy?"

Well, that was that it seemed. Rook Madiggan grinned at Lexi before nodding. "I think that won't be a problem." He quickly disappeared below decks before returning with a faded map of the area. He looked at the shoreline, the rocklinerock line, and every other identifier he could before he licked his thumb and brushed of his hair from his face. He took care to keep the torch away from the map, just in case. "Alright..." He looked around once more. "You'll want to turn us what looks like eighty degrees to the right. After that, just hold her straight. If I'm right reading this thing, we'll be back to Lodan in about ten minutes. After that, why don't you let one of the other sailors guide her in, huh? I don't want my ship being ruined."

Alexandra gave a deep, long suffering sigh. "Starboard, bilge rat, it's called starboard. Your left is port. If you are going to captain a boat, at least learn the basics." Alexandra spun the wheel and set the ship on the course suggested by the over inflated noble. After a short time had passed and the familiar port grew closer Alexandra called out to the crew "helmsman to the wheel!" She called out, and as the man approached Alex stepped away "Take into port, if you would." Alex relaxed now, and let the crewman take his spot at the wheel. As they got close enough to the docks, Cait turned to the silent Captain Cockfoster and gave her best wicked grin, before turning slightly to the crew. "First round is on me tonight boys! And the first man who can dunk this bilge rat in the harbor gets to dance with me all he wants tonight!" Turning her evil grin on the mad bomber, Alex nodded her head towards the dock they were sliding up to. "Better start running, bilge rat."

some of the men cheered at the mention of free drinks, always in the mood for such, but the cleverer ones hold their excitement in, knowingly.
"Not so fast Skinny," Caitlin told the girl. She liked her, she really did, but the thing was... "I gave you a task to do, and you did precisely the opposite. Rather than stop him from completing his assignment, you helped him do it. I'm terribly tempted to fail him on account of his complete ineptness if not for the technicalities. And technically, he completed his trial without a scratch on MY SHIP," she directed the emphasis of my ship at Maddigan who'd already taken to calling it his own, "And without a scratch to himself. So, congratulations, I like your can-do seamanship, but it has earned HIM his spot on the crew.... but as for yourself, well..."
Caitlin advanced on the girl. "You've failed me."
The crew lingered quietly nearby now, some utterly dismayed that there would be no free beer in this but dutiful nonetheless to the captain in covering her back. "Like I said before though, I have taken a liking to you, lucky that, since it means I'll make an exception in your case. One and only exception- so don't go letting people think that this will be made available to others in the future."
Caitlin took a step back and grinned. "Free drinks on the both of them. They wanted to work as a team, they can pay as a team, enjoy!" She shouted and everyone got rowdy this time, closing in with the intent to crowd surf the new inductee's to the pub, supposing they don't decide to take a swim over the edge after all. Later she would show a tinge of mercy and assign Maddigan to the sky fleet, maybe put Skinny on the same airship to keep an eye on Maddigan, unless they got too cavalier with each other, in which case she might be better off splitting the pair up.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff.
